I think Thistleclaw should’ve been a bit higher up on the list, because in Spottedleaf’s heart, he’s basically a child predator, which is SUPER evil, but hey! Apart from this minor thing, I totally agree with this list! I’m glad you included lesser known villains like One Eye too, because when I read DOTC, he was such a cool, interesting villain!

Basically, it seemed like The Erin’s where making illusions to Revalation and One-Eye is the Antichrist. I was spooked to say the least.
In my opinion Brokenstar is the most evil. He forced three moons old kits to fight and murdered his own dad. But I understand that most people think Tigerstar is more evil. I honestly don't think Mapleshade is that evil. I mean, atleast not while she was alive. She only seeked revenge. But what she did when she was in dark forest is definetely evil!

I personally think Darktail is a very relatable villain. Tigerstar, Brokenstar and Hawkfrost, all wanted power for the sake of power. Darktail however, wanted vengeance because his father was too much of a coward to call him his son. Mapleshade is very relatable villain as well, because every major character in her novella is a jerk.
Mapleshade is probably the most evil cat because she is a master of manipulation... Though why she didn't use the fact that no one remembered her to her advantage is a mystery to me.

Every cat on the list seems to have justified reasons, I know that they’re not REALLY good reasons to kill a cat or want to take over a clan but it just seems reasonable for them to be evil. Tigerstar’s father left him when he was a kit to be a kittypet, and I mean that itself could mess someone up a lot. Thistleclaw’s ambition was influenced by Mapleshade and his grief turned into anger when Snowfur died. Mapleshade was kicked out of her clan, watched her kits die, and then got rejected from Riverclan, they didn’t even want to bury the kits near their deceased clanmates. I think the most evil cat has to be Brokenstar from the moment he was born he was evil and he gave no reason on why he was like that. He had a loving father yes, and Lizardstripe wasn’t the best mother I get that. Lizardstripe and her kits didn’t have an influence really on Brokenstar because he was already born with evil intentions and strong emotions. All the other villains seem pathetic compared to him, because they only are driven by usually grief or anger which honestly is getting old.
I believed that you would point out that Thistleclaw manipulated Spottedpaw (Spottedleaf). I was surprised you did not mention it as a factor, but it is ok. Kate said that this was the real reason Thistleclaw was evil and sent to the Dark Forest.
Sometimes I wish the story was re-engineered so Pinestar turned out to be Jake, Firehearts father. It would make the whole dynamic with Tigerclaw much different.
Mapleshade was automatically my favorite cat as soon as my sister told me about her. I like good cats, but sometimes I just need a good villain to like to. Go Mapleshade!!!!!

The way you describe Tigerstars "evilness" really impresses the notion on me, that the list was more about the most violent villans, than the most evil cats - You can be evil and still follow the rules, in this case it even made more sense for him, since he wasn't bent on destroying the clans in his lifetime, but wanted to lead all of them. If he didn't gain leadership the "right" way, he would quickly be leader of no clan once they banded together under him, since they wouldn't trust in his leadership. (I really got into that more than I should have, lol)
I can't remember well, but in Leafpool's Secret Yellowfang confirms that the reason Brokenstar was evil was because he was raised by a cat who hated him. Starclan can't make some cat automatically evil- but they understand how things will turn out when there's no other choice. Brokenkit literally had to beg to be fed, and Tigerkit was fed with dark thoughts by Mapleshade and Thisleclaw.
Clear Sky flip flopped for me. First 4 books(DOTC) I hated him and wanted him to burn. Last 2 books(DOTC) I liked him. Moth Flight's Vision Wait Moth Flights Vision took place between book 2 and 3 in DOTC right?!(This is part joke because he acted so much like his old self in the start of Dawn of the Clans, even though it was after it ended.

To me that sounds a bit more narcissistic than evil. And he started to get better later on in the series, as he deeply cares about his new mate and his Kits. But I completely respect your opinion, and I used to think he was evil myself, actually.

He went all yandere and tried to murder four guiltless cats just for sake of taking pleasure in Squirrel's suffering. That would be more evil if he succeded and killed them.
@Potato Pothead They were literally swimming in the river the day before. The only reason Appledusk had to save one was because one got tired. They literally could swim. So she assumed they would be okay. If you blame mapleshade, I hope you also blame Bluestar for Mosskit's death.
@Potato Pothead You do know the only reason the kits didn't make it across was because a dam up the river broke and the area was overwhelm while they were swimming across. They didn't drown because they couldn't swim, they drown, because they get swept away by the massive swell of water. Mapleshade only made it herself, because she was pulled out of the water.
@Potato Pothead the flood wasn't visible, the swelling of the river and the swiftness of the water was. This is what patch kit pointed out, and Mapleshade found a way to address the kits fears. That is why she aimed for the rocks for them to rest and then swim across as needed. She couldn't predict that a dam (beavers) would break while they were swimming across. Patchkit was given a sort of supernatural quality to the kit that was never explored because of it's death. (Future medicine cat my guess)

Darktail and Tigerclaw’s differences come more from their motivations than how evil they were, Tigerclaw wanted power and Darktail wanted revenge. So Tigerclaw controlling both clans while Darktail only destroyed them makes sense.

Every cat on the list seems to have justified reasons, I know that they’re not REALLY good reasons to kill a cat or want to take over a clan but it just seems reasonable for them to be evil.
Tigerstar’s father left him when he was a kit to be a kittypet, and I mean that itself could mess someone up a lot.
Thistleclaw’s ambition was influenced by Mapleshade and his grief turned into anger when Snowfur died.
Mapleshade was kicked out of her clan, watched her kits die, and then got rejected from Riverclan, they didn’t even want to bury the kits near their deceased clanmates.
I think the most evil cat has to be Brokenstar from the moment he was born he was evil and he gave no reason on why he was like that. He had a loving father yes, and Lizardstripe wasn’t the best mother I get that. Lizardstripe and her kits didn’t have an influence really on Brokenstar because he was already born with evil intentions and strong emotions. All the other villains seem pathetic compared to him, because they only are driven by usually grief or anger which honestly is getting old.
I believed that you would point out that Thistleclaw manipulated Spottedpaw (Spottedleaf). I was surprised you did not mention it as a factor, but it is ok. Kate said that this was the real reason Thistleclaw was evil and sent to the Dark Forest.

The way you describe Tigerstars "evilness" really impresses the notion on me, that the list was more about the most violent villans, than the most evil cats - You can be evil and still follow the rules, in this case it even made more sense for him, since he wasn't bent on destroying the clans in his lifetime, but wanted to lead all of them. If he didn't gain leadership the "right" way, he would quickly be leader of no clan once they banded together under him, since they wouldn't trust in his leadership. (I really got into that more than I should have, lol)
I can't remember well, but in Leafpool's Secret Yellowfang confirms that the reason Brokenstar was evil was because he was raised by a cat who hated him. Starclan can't make some cat automatically evil- but they understand how things will turn out when there's no other choice. Brokenkit literally had to beg to be fed, and Tigerkit was fed with dark thoughts by Mapleshade and Thisleclaw.

To me I don’t feel like he is necessarily evil, but a narcissist with a huge ego. He cared about his territory and the power of his Clan, but he was heartless to most cats too. To me that sounds a bit more narcissistic than evil. And he started to get better later on in the series, as he deeply cares about his new mate and his Kits. But I completely respect your opinion, and I used to think he was evil myself, actually.

He tried to destroy the living clans, starclan and the dark forest after he died and possessed bramblestar to destroy thunderclan, and exiled innocent cats because he felt like it. Also, he was so evil that dark forest cats went on to the good side to fight him, and his kill count was like 12 or something. And he did all this bc he’s a toxic ex.

Shaplemade was exiled, lost her kits and her mate broke up with her. She killed three cats and ended up in the DF. She killed cats who responsible for the death of her kits and her exile. and her mate.
Ashfool didn't have any dead kits, lived in Thunderclan, but teamed up with a riverclan cat to kill his own leader, then tried to burn three cats alive because their mother and his niece used to hang with him for a week to make her bf jelaous. He went all yandere and tried to murder four guiltless cats just for sake of taking pleasure in Squirrel's suffering. That would be more evil if he succeded and killed them.
@Potato Pothead They were literally swimming in the river the day before. The only reason Appledusk had to save one was because one got tired. They literally could swim. So she assumed they would be okay. If you blame mapleshade, I hope you also blame Bluestar for Mosskit's death.
@Potato Pothead You do know the only reason the kits didn't make it across was because a dam up the river broke and the area was overwhelm while they were swimming across. They didn't drown because they couldn't swim, they drown, because they get swept away by the massive swell of water. Mapleshade only made it herself, because she was pulled out of the water.
@Potato Pothead the flood wasn't visible, the swelling of the river and the swiftness of the water was. This is what patch kit pointed out, and Mapleshade found a way to address the kits fears. That is why she aimed for the rocks for them to rest and then swim across as needed. She couldn't predict that a dam (beavers) would break while they were swimming across. Patchkit was given a sort of supernatural quality to the kit that was never explored because of it's death. (Future medicine cat my guess)

Darktail and Tigerclaw’s differences come more from their motivations than how evil they were, Tigerclaw wanted power and Darktail wanted revenge. So Tigerclaw controlling both clans while Darktail only destroyed them makes sense.
