I kind of want to see an evil medicine cat in Warriors. A cat driven to madness a bit similar to Goosefeather but going down a wrong path. Like a manipulative cat using their knowledge and title to gain power or a cat that thinks the only way to stop a bad future is by poisoning others or do twisted deeds in hope of better outcomes. But I think a fanfic already did that.

Well, the glorification of Mapleshade's murder is because the book is partially through her PoV. It would make no sense for the book to be like, "Mapleshade was thrilled when she finally felt Ravenwing fall limp beneath her, a tremor of satisfaction ripping down her spine." And then the narration be something like, "Mapleshade took another cat's life, and that's no good!" The "narration" in Warriors isn't like an episode of Caillou where a voice above is walking through reader through what happened. It merely describes what is going on with the characters. So if Mapleshade feels glory from murder, the narration simply says it how it is. However, I agree that the book was far too rushed. It was like "Mapleshade's kits drowned, time for a murder spree!" Rather than properly developing her fall into insanity.
I personally don't see how else they could've handled it. Spottedleaf's Heart was told from the point of view of Spottedpaw, who had no idea that the relationship was bad and was being groomed into thinking it was okay. As said in the other comment, there's not going to be random narration where it says if something is right or wrong.
Maeshades Vengence was made to not have a resolution, she was kicked out of her clan, lost her kits, was cheated on, then banished. At this point, she thought no one cared for her so she murdered everyone. That doesn't justify it or say it was right, but what she did did have a reason. At the end of the book when someone tried to help her, she denied them showing there was no sympathy, kindness, or reasoning in her heart anymore so she went to the dark forest. Mapleshade was like a princess, all her life was perfect until that one horrible event, so she didn't know how to deal with it other than with anger, I think this makes perfect sense in her story arc. Thats why I like her.

Ehh. Mapleshade... Is an iffy character. I'd agree if there was /more/ to her story. I do agree that her being in a novella was just rushed and too short, though I feel like a Super Edition would've been too long and dragged things on. It's quite a hard topic. Maybe she should've just been a tale in a new series about villains perhaps.

I didn’t really see Alder X Velvet as a forbidden romance. He never acted upon it, he basically had a high school crush, and got over very quickly. As Jayfeather said, his feelings weren’t wrong, but acting upon it was. If he had left with Velvet or mated with her, etc. then it would be a forbidden romance, but until then it shouldn’t be counted as a forbidden romance But hey, that’s my opinion :3
Agreed. I actually liked the kittypet subplot. The scene with Fuzzball meeting Jayfeather was HILARIOUS! And I liked how they brought out Jayfeather's softer side. I like the part when he was devastated over Briarlight's death, Fuzzball sits besides him to comfort him, and Jayfeather puts his tail on his shoulder and accepts his comfort. I loved that part because even though Fuzzball annoyed him, he still accepted his comfort. I also like how Jayfeather told Alderheart that he was needed in ThunderClan, and he was a good medicine cat. I like it when grumpy characters aren't grumpy 24/7. Real humans show multiple sides of themselves.

I like mapleshade very much but every people has his/her own opinion.Also will be boring when every people have the same opinion. I respect the opinion of other and think`s interesting of their opinion.
Mapleshade is my favorite character out of every villain... I would agree if she killed her (Old mate). Becaues of what he did to her. (Just take this as my opion in this comment section)
To be fair, she was "insane" before. I mean, not really, but she had some weakness before (mentally). It was somewhat noticable to begin with, there was something in the way she thought, acted, believed in... Something was off. And her loosing her clan, her kits and her mate made that weakness into a monster. That does NOT excuse her actions at all. Killing cats was absolutely wrong. But that at least explains it.
Then I don't understand why Scourge isn't on this. He went mentally insane as well, it wasn't really even a good reason. All because someone bullied him, he all of asudend wants to kill a bunch of cats. Mapleshade lost everything she could have loved. In my opinion, she's the best villain.
The thing that mainly made Scourge (Tiny) leave was Ruby's words "You know what happens to unwanted kits? They get thrown in the river." I personally like Scourge and feel sorry for me...but people have their opinions and I respect yours.
When you were talking about cinderheart, I (almost) completely disagree. First of all, I really disagree with "Cinderpelt enjoyed her life afted becoming a medicine cat." To a certain extent, yes she did enjoy her life, but she never chose the life of a medicine cat, she wanted, very much to be a warrior of Thunderclan. She said, a lot of times, that she always dreamed of being a warrior. When the accident happened she was obviously crushed by thr fact that she would never be able to fight or hunt like a warrior, and she would be a medicine cat instead. She specifically held it in because she didn't want to be all "poor me." Her destiny was always to be a warrior, but Starclan never predicted the accident. So in a way, she enjoyed her life, but not to the extent she was supposed to. Second, I believe cinderpelt did need that second chance. Like I said, she really wanted to become a warrior, and that was her original destiny. That was the whole reason she was given a second chance. Unfortunately she wasn't developed as a charcter too much, but she was enough that her actions made sense. So all in all, Cinderheart, in my opinion, wasn't a horrible character. She was a great one, that just deserved a bit mkre development to give a better understanding of her life.
My most hated cat is Slash. He felt like a One Eye wannabe to me and I could not find any good qualities in him. I like One Eye because he's a butt kicking elder among many things. And really? Slash is too lazy to hunt for himself?
Dave Muller Hardly. One Eye is far superior to Slash, and he should have been the villain throughout the last two books of the arc. Also, I'm curious, what made you think Slash was One Eye? It was stated many times they were two different cats, as well as they had different appearances.
I completely disregarded Slash, that was how boring he was. In all honesty, 80% of characters in Dawn of the Clans were really unlikable to me. Slash was cardboard, the background cats like Acorn Fur and Cloud Spots were forgettable and had barely any unique traits to make them seem interesting, Clear Sky was just... Disgusting, and don't get me started on Star Flower. I was quite disappointed. I would've thought this would be the moment for the Erins to make the first ancestors of the clans seem that more interesting, but nope!
I really like alderheart, but he is getting super boring. He's barely even his own character anymore and has almost no personality. I really hope he does something in Raging Storm so that I can feel as attached as I once felt to him. Also, I highly agree with Lionblaze. He's just a bore to read about, and I never liked his chapters. Especially with Heatherpaw. Him fantasizing about killing her is just sorta?? idk. he let his power take control of him, and I've never liked battle hungry cats.
oh hello, didnt expect to see you here yeah, at first i loved alderheart, a lot of people could relate to him, but he's just boring now?? i feel like the erins just want to write about twig and violet and whats going on with them, skipping over the protagonist we were introduced to at the start of the arc. i do hope they pick up on him again; my worry is that when he went to visit velvet to give her toy back, considering he spent a long time with her, he mated with her, just to make alder more interesting..

I enjoyed Cinderheart interaction with the power of three in my opinion. I love how Jayfeather try to help her when her leg was injured and try to break the 4th wall as well.
I personally do not believe that BlueStar should be on this list, but I respect your opinion. Allow me to explain. To me, BlueStar really brought a sense of hopelessness and just overall emotional breakdown in the story, which I respect. Although her emotions may seem over the top and she may seem dramatic, once you think about it deeper, it makes more sense. All her life she had an incredible weight that switched from place to place, barely giving her enough time to really figure out what to logically do about it, so she decided to bottle up her emotions and replace it with focusing more on her clan instead of dwelling on the past, which is at the same time smart and stubborn. After she found out that one of the only cats left that she felt she could trust killed off or at least tried to kill cats that she had very close to her, along with all the drama that was happening way to fast for her to make sense of it all, she could barely keep hold her weight anymore, and all the emotional torment that she had to hide away for most of her life just spilled out making her feel utterly defeated, and for me, that means a lot.
Velvet Wing Okay, but that doesn't give her an excuse to bring down her misery on literally everyone around her since she was an apprentice. Remember when she named Brightheart Lostface and indirectly caused Swiftpaw's death because she was too lazy to give them their warrior ceremonies sooner? She always thinks she's in the right, when she's clearly not over half the time. She's super bitter as well, and to me, bitter characters (especially ones who are bitter for no reason) aren't interesting to read about at all.

Many people hate characters because of their actions, and never seem to care if they are well developed or not, and that seems to be the case here.
Blue Jay yeah, but she neglected to take care of her clan because she was depressed. You shouldn't feel sorry for yourself to the point that you shun everyone around you. Especially if you are in a position of authority like blue star was. These cats deserve a leader that will actually be there for them.

Okay, so I am totally prepared to be hated, but I LOVE Ashfur. I am not just one of the fan girls that love the evil angsty villain, but I actually can really relate to him. From the confusion on how he handled his emotions to the loss in his life really made me connect to him.
I understand why people hate Ashfur and your points were much better than anybody else's. I kinda wished that the Erins made him feel super horrible or gave more insight on what happened to him after he died. There is no way that he was just sent to Starclan. He must've been in the Dark Forest first and begged to leave or he said he truly felt sorry. Now that I think about it, the Erins should've put him in the final battle to add to his character instead of having him not exist at all (unless they did but I don't remember). I'm sure the Erins had plenty of potential for Ashfur but threw him out as quick as possible. Because you know, *plot twist* thanks for reading my ramble if you did :)
My defenses for some of the cats I actually like mostly a joke and I respect this dude's opinion Bluestar-she was almost murdered by her deputy give her a break she's old she's sick and probably had PTSD from everything that happened Leafstar-shes the first leader of current skyclan and a former rouge you really expect her to know what to do Lionblaze-its cool to read about him getting over the fact that he's not invincible it shows a big part of the prophecy cats learning to live without their powers though dovewings was quite a bit cooler Mapleshade-im changeing my mapleshade thing i have a pretty good defense for mapleshade because I really like her- so she is more interesting in death than in life like yes I was kinda disappointed by the novella but I like her for after her death and how she manipulates cats in order to get her revenge and definitely helps build up the suspense in crookedstars promise along with a multitude of the other books also she's i think the first female antagonist of the series so there my actual argument for mapleshade Sol-sol was fun to read about and given more development in the manga if you haven't read skyclan and the stranger read it it's good so basically Sol was a kittypet(and the one responsible for harrybrooks horrible name yes leafstar named her kit after him) then joined skyclan under the name of sol after a while he got impatient stole leafstars kits before getting caught by waspwhisker and driven off swearing vengeance against the clans so he has a pretty decent backstory and I actually like him
I agree, but there's no excuse for Ashfur, Hawkfrost, or Cinderheart. Ashfur was a great guy his whole life and then boom! now he's trying to kill three cats. Hawkfrost was completely under developed and Mothwing should have gotten a few chapters in New Prophecy to fix that. Cinderheart is just Starclan taking pity on Cinderpelt so they gave her a new life just so she can have a boyfriend.
Georgecat22 well it did show hawkfrost blackmailing mothwing. And the verbal abuse as well. That was enough for me to get a clear picture of him. Not to mention how he challenged mistyfoot orders
I can understand most of your choices. I was surprised about Mapleshade but now that you explain, I get it. I really like the book when it first came out but I can see the flaws. I feel it was supposed to get the super editions treatment but for some reason couldn't and decided " really why don't we just changed to novella? We already did it for Tigerstar. It will sell like hot cakes !" Not realizing that we had 1 SE, 9 book with alive and 12 books as spirit to know about him. The only thing to do with Tigerstar was to explain his actions and how he became leader. It work because it made clear he honestly thought he was helping his clan, not realizing that blinded by his ambition and Mapleshade's guidance. He won Shadowclan because he gave his loyalty to them with a hidden price. However, even though we know Mapleshade for 6 books before novella, we very little about her. All we know was she had kits with Crookedstar's great-grandfather, she got exile from her clan, lost her kits, rejected by her mate, cause some sort of trouble as rogue and swear revenge on her former mate family. There was no mention of murder before now and it shortened length it end up glorifying murder. If we have more seen her crazy or saw nothing good come out of it then maybe. My only defense is the book does have a resolution but it very weak. It is to show why she continued to haunt her ex-mate family even if she got her revenge. I feel it would be stronger if they made a tenth chapter, something maybe tie in with to Crookedstar's SE. This what I came up off the top of my head: she see Crookedstar for the first time and can see there is greatness in him. Mapleshade swell in anger as think her past, the path to glory to a deputy maybe even leader that should have belong her or her kits or even kits' kins. Now she must watch as this great honor be will surely given to light brown kit that never should've been born. However, she stop and think. 'What if I train this kit? Could I make it so he would obey me and Me alone?' And in that was there in that stormy night, she decide she would use little stormkit. She would used Appledusk's kin to destroy ThunderClan, ruin RiverClan and end her faithless mate line once and for all. A rough purr pour out of her for the first time in countless moons. "Welcome to the world, Stormkit. You will be my vengeance."
Reading the story of Mapleshade was very upsetting. Her behavior and justification made no sense, and although her story was set in a time long before the main series, it made no sense that she was the only forbidden romance with actual direct punishment for her decision. The other books rely on social problems than the leader banishing a code-breaker.
i mean with new leaders, moat would see it differently. sure there are a LOT of code breakers but all of that doesnt have to resolve to banishment. they'll be losing too many cats over that.

Jackyoshi agreed. His reasoning for hating Mapleshade, though he can hate her, falls flat on its face for me. In Mapleshade’s vengeance, it was easy for me to see things from her side and, though I would have preferred a different outcome, like she realizes she was no better than the cats who sent her kits away to die by way of murder, I can at least show SOME sympathy to her. The many books she shows up in afterwards makes her a character that you would hate big time. He makes Appledusk, Frecklewish, and Ravenwing, and even Oakstar, to be made out to be completely pure of evil, but they have done some questionable things too. Oakstar banishes KITS for StarClans sake, kits barely out of the nursery. And for what? Because they were the offspring of the cat who he believed killed his son. Appledusk dumped and cheated on Mapleshade. Why? One of the reasons was coverup, and another was because she had brought the kits to a swollen stream and wondered why they drowned. Frecklewish was clouded by emotion and nearly KILLED Mapleshade. If she hadn’t tried going to RiverClan and her kits were still alive, what would they do if their mother passed away from a wound that was infected. And Ravenwing jumped to conclusions about the prophecy he saw when he knew darn well that StarClan is always vague. Even though their deaths weren’t right, what they did to Mapleshade, although understandable, was very flawed and led to the death of her and her kits.

I just can't take Brambleclaw AT ALL. He started out pretty nice in Midnight, his concept of "I'm not what people think of me" was pretty nice too... But then, out of sudden, he started bitching around after he started being the selfish trash and wanting to be deputy so badly while he was talking/hanging out with his OBVIOUSLY evil brother (the meetings with Tigerstar and his crooked motives would be enough, c'mon. You must be so naive not to notice that Hawkfrost had evil intentions), defending him to Squirrelflight (who was trying to warn him about it) saying that he loves her sister the same way and then saying "oooh, you dont belive me becous uf mah futher, im not evil as mah futher". MAN, I NEEDED TO HOLD MYSELF NOT TO SKIP HIS POINT OF VIEW CHAPTERS.
Yeah. I enjoyed his character in 'The new Prophecy', but after that, he just became annoying and unlikable. He's far from being my LEAST favourite character, though.
I'm so glad someone agrees with me that Bramblestar is just horrible! He is SO boring to read about, he was okay in the New Prophecy, but ever since he's just been horrible.
I’m a bit late to the party but I have to say something to defend Lionblaze’s honor. He’s not boring. He’s the best of the Three. Also, since when did Jayfeather get a whole lot of development? When he went to the Moonpool a thousand times? Plus, it’s not like Dovewing is very interesting. Her whole “personality” is that she likes Tigerheart. Lionblaze is just so fun and interesting. He was a great change of character, considering all the previous protagonists were all serious and formal, whereas Lionblaze is more goofy and funny. He’s my very favorite character, and he’s been through so much, lost so much, and just doesn’t get enough appreciation.
I was disappointed when you mentioned Bluestar, but when you brought up Lionblaze, Cinderheart, and Alderheart, all was forgiven. I liked Alderheart at first but now he bores me. And then Ashfur came and I screamed praises to Starclan. Though Mapleshade did break my heart but eh, you had enough to agree with to not be upset. Here's my top 10 Dishonorable mention: Pinestar 10. I also dislike Twigbranch. She abandons her Clan the moment before she gets her warrior name, then proceeds to do it AGAIN. Once she returns to ThunderClan she excepts them to welcome her and just hand everything to her? She also completely leaves Violetshine constantly and expects her sister to be totally chill with it.
Kinda curious about Heatherstar, I really like her a lot ! To me, she is the exemple of a good leader. She can makes hard decision that would disapoint her entire clan just to make sure they are all safe. She also seemed really brave and wise. Why do you not like her ? (I totally agree on the rest though)

I think Mapleshade was definitely NOT written well. The idea was okay, but they didn't paint her out and execute her in the right way. If it had been done well, I personally think that Mapleshades vengeance would be AMAZING.

Honestly, and this is only an opinion.. Firestar was mostly the most predictable cat in the Warriors series. "Fire will save the clans." We basically all knew that he would've been the one to do it anyways. Also, he had a forbidden love with Spottedleaf but when she died he moved onto Sandstorm even though he still had feelings for Spottedleaf. Those are the only two things that really bothered me the most about him. But if you understand how I feel then I really appreciate it.

Maybe the reason why mapleshade is the way she is is due to a mental illness. She doesn’t know how or just can’t react to a breakup normally within reason. Same with ashfur. Their behaviors just aren’t normal.
Remember when Brokenstar mass murdering and child labour was shown as disgusting and not getting the abused as kit pass yet every villan after him was treated like a gud boi who go kill but it fine.
Personally, I really like Sol. He was different compared to the other villains, I was really unsure if he was meant to be a good or bad guy at first. And his time in the mangas was also interesting, imo. As for Ashfur, I don't like him at all. But I think his behavior is born from his time as a kit/apprentice. From his mother dying, he learned seeking revenge is okay (nobody had time to correct him because of the dogs and Tigerstar), he never learned that there's other ways to solve stuff, and by attacking the dogs he thought violence would be a suitable revenge. And in the battle of Bloodclan he learned solving problems with violence is also okay (once again, nobody would correct him). That's why he snapped when Squirrelflight rejected him. He saw it as another problem, that he solves with violence, because that's what he was taught. But that's just what I think. And Mapleshade, actually... She had a weakness before everything happened. Something was off from the very start. Yes, it's very subtle, but it's there. It might be difficult for the normal person to notice, but I did notice it. There was something about the way she thought, the way she acted, what she believed in... Something was wrong. She had a weakness mentally from before. By loosing her clan, her kits and her mate, that little weakness became a huge problem. That, of course, does NOT forgive her or justify her actions, murder is wrong! But it explains it a little bit. I feel like her story would've been better as a super edition instead, then they could've explored that weakness more than they did. Maybe show us how she got it, was it from birth? Was it an event that triggered it? Was there a cat teaching her bad lessons? Who knows. We sure don't The novella was, by the way, written from HER point of view. That's why murder is viewed as "good", because SHE thought so But of course, I respect your opinion. Because, well, everyone has different opinions. These are simply mine

Tkjk04 basically, ever since the New Prophecy series started, it was tradition in the warrior series to have at least one medicine can protagonist. The New Prophecy: Leafpool Power of Three: Jayfeather Omen of the Stars: Jayfeather again (and Flametail for a brief chapter) A vision of Shadows: Alderheart The Broken Code: Shadowpaw (I hope his official medicine cat name will be something like Shadowstripe or Shadowbird. They sound cool to me). Edit: I actually think it is meant to show the difference in life between the two, so we can have better understanding about it. The medicine cat’s seem a bit more mature than the warriors, probably due to their extensive knowledge, and the strife about not allowed to have kits.
Hmm ashfur tried to kill 4 cats. He helped hawkfrost to try to kill firestar. Not to mention all the hints at his instability. When he was fighting with lionblaze. And shows how he not close to him. It like he was in the background stewing over it all. Just cuz he felt entitled to squirrelflight. Ugh hate nice guys like him. They wasn’t even mates. She viewed him as a friend.

Mapleshade's my 4th favorite cat, and if I were in her shoes after literally everyone betrayed her, I'd probably go crazy and murder everyone too. I watched a video (Draiknator video) which made my hate for appledusk and love for mapleshade higher. It explained that mapleshade's only real option was riverclan, where she would most likely be yelled at. Mapleshade is a 'different' villain in my opinion. She didn't choose to be a villain, she was basically forced to.

You are right, she is one of my favorite characters but how she just kind of acts like how she wants to die and how she just doesn't shown any emotional and doesn't bother to clean and prune herself any more...it's just..idk, but what really made me lighten up and just love her is that moment she (SPOILER ALERT) knocked the dog off the cliff, she risked her life to save Thunderclan. That made me feel guilty for not liking her.

Reasons why Mapleshade should NOT be here: 1. she lost everything because Thunderclan and Riverclan are jerks. 2. I hate Bramblestar because his development is stupid! I hate Squirrelflight because she is so bratty and rude!! I hate Millie because she focused only on Briarlight and never payed attention to her other kids!!!! I hate Palebird,Featherstorm and Brightflower because they never showed care to their kittens and forgot about them completely. And Palebird is the worst because she forgot all about Talltail, Finchkit and Sandgorse and moved on with stupid Woolytail and then forgot all about Hopkit. Overall some stupid characters.
I disagree with mapleahade and only mapleshade because well ahe is my favorite villain because she doesn't have the simple over reused power hungry thing almost every other villain does and she was killing them at the fact she had nothing left her kits dead her clan refuseing to except her and her grief blinded her and she wanted justice and thats what she saw as justice and that each cat she killed was one that basicly made the deaths of her kits happen and the love and bond between a mother and her childeren is strong enough for the loss of the to push and unstable mother to that and before she seemed to have an interseting charater in place but i agree that the story was rushed it was only about 1/3 the size of a normal book so i understood why but i know its just your opinion and this is just mine so if you ever actually read this i would be surprised but otherwise o agree on all the other characters and thx for the work you put into the videos i enjoy them
About Bluestar. There's more about her in Bluestar's Prophecy and that she did carry a heavy burden about her kits Mistyfoot and Stonefur, her death wasn't expected in my view it was sudden, but also sad and saved Thunderclan from certain destruction and Firestar's life. So she is never one of the worst cats.
Alderheart is actually my favorite character in Warriors. In the Apprentice’s Quest, his anxiousness and self-doubt, along with his failures at being a warrior and completing his quest was very interesting to me. It set him apart from every other perfect, sawdust protagonist in Warriors. (Like Leafstar) However, I really wish they would have expanded on his arc. He has so much potential as a character and instead of developing him, they wasted all the development on Twigpaw and Violetpaw lol. Also, Lionblaze is one of my favorites as well. I loved his struggle with his power and bloodlust, and he actually developed a lot throughout the overall serial. In the POT, he was an arrogant, selfish, immature apprentice. However, as OotS progressed, he grew into a more mature and responsible cat and a great mentor to Dovewing. Sorry for the long rant😂I totally agree with Cindepelt! My personal least favorite is Leafpool. Great video, sorry again for this essay😂

Well, the glorification of Mapleshade's murder is because the book is partially through her PoV. It would make no sense for the book to be like, "Mapleshade was thrilled when she finally felt Ravenwing fall limp beneath her, a tremor of satisfaction ripping down her spine." And then the narration be something like, "Mapleshade took another cat's life, and that's no good!" The "narration" in Warriors isn't like an episode of Caillou where a voice above is walking through reader through what happened. It merely describes what is going on with the characters. So if Mapleshade feels glory from murder, the narration simply says it how it is. However, I agree that the book was far too rushed. It was like "Mapleshade's kits drowned, time for a murder spree!" Rather than properly developing her fall into insanity.
I personally don't see how else they could've handled it. Spottedleaf's Heart was told from the point of view of Spottedpaw, who had no idea that the relationship was bad and was being groomed into thinking it was okay. As said in the other comment, there's not going to be random narration where it says if something is right or wrong.

Maeshades Vengence was made to not have a resolution, she was kicked out of her clan, lost her kits, was cheated on, then banished. At this point, she thought no one cared for her so she murdered everyone. That doesn't justify it or say it was right, but what she did did have a reason. At the end of the book when someone tried to help her, she denied them showing there was no sympathy, kindness, or reasoning in her heart anymore so she went to the dark forest. Mapleshade was like a princess, all her life was perfect until that one horrible event, so she didn't know how to deal with it other than with anger, I think this makes perfect sense in her story arc. Thats why I like her.

I didn’t really see Alder X Velvet as a forbidden romance. He never acted upon it, he basically had a high school crush, and got over very quickly. As Jayfeather said, his feelings weren’t wrong, but acting upon it was.
If he had left with Velvet or mated with her, etc. then it would be a forbidden romance, but until then it shouldn’t be counted as a forbidden romance

The scene with Fuzzball meeting Jayfeather was HILARIOUS! And I liked how they brought out Jayfeather's softer side. I like the part when he was devastated over Briarlight's death, Fuzzball sits besides him to comfort him, and Jayfeather puts his tail on his shoulder and accepts his comfort. I loved that part because even though Fuzzball annoyed him, he still accepted his comfort.
I also like how Jayfeather told Alderheart that he was needed in ThunderClan, and he was a good medicine cat. I like it when grumpy characters aren't grumpy 24/7. Real humans show multiple sides of themselves.

He took another breath and let it out in a contented sigh, his breaths regular as he listened to the cheerful birdsong wafting on the breeze. Suddenly Jayfeather called to him, and Alderheart took a deep breath to shout loudly back. His voice, strengthened by the clear spring air, carried across to the camp before he took a strong breath and sprinted back to find Jayfeather waiting for him, impatiently kneading his paws in the damp earth.

To be fair, she was "insane" before. I mean, not really, but she had some weakness before (mentally). It was somewhat noticable to begin with, there was something in the way she thought, acted, believed in... Something was off. That does NOT excuse her actions at all. Killing cats was absolutely wrong. But that at least explains it.
Then I don't understand why Scourge isn't on this. He went mentally insane as well, it wasn't really even a good reason. All because someone bullied him, he all of asudend wants to kill a bunch of cats. Mapleshade lost everything she could have loved. In my opinion, she's the best villain.
The thing that mainly made Scourge (Tiny) leave was Ruby's words "You know what happens to unwanted kits? They get thrown in the river." I personally like Scourge and feel sorry for me...but people have their opinions and I respect yours.

When you were talking about cinderheart, I (almost) completely disagree.
First of all, I really disagree with "Cinderpelt enjoyed her life afted becoming a medicine cat." To a certain extent, yes she did enjoy her life, but she never chose the life of a medicine cat, she wanted, very much to be a warrior of Thunderclan. She said, a lot of times, that she always dreamed of being a warrior. When the accident happened she was obviously crushed by thr fact that she would never be able to fight or hunt like a warrior, and she would be a medicine cat instead. She specifically held it in because she didn't want to be all "poor me." Her destiny was always to be a warrior, but Starclan never predicted the accident. So in a way, she enjoyed her life, but not to the extent she was supposed to.
Second, I believe cinderpelt did need that second chance. Like I said, she really wanted to become a warrior, and that was her original destiny. That was the whole reason she was given a second chance. Unfortunately she wasn't developed as a charcter too much, but she was enough that her actions made sense.
So all in all, Cinderheart, in my opinion, wasn't a horrible character. She was a great one, that just deserved a bit mkre development to give a better understanding of her life.

I completely disregarded Slash, that was how boring he was. In all honesty, 80% of characters in Dawn of the Clans were really unlikable to me. Slash was cardboard, the background cats like Acorn Fur and Cloud Spots were forgettable and had barely any unique traits to make them seem interesting, Clear Sky was just... Disgusting, and don't get me started on Star Flower.
I was quite disappointed. I would've thought this would be the moment for the Erins to make the first ancestors of the clans seem that more interesting, but nope!

I enjoyed Cinderheart interaction with the power of three in my opinion. I love how Jayfeather try to help her when her leg was injured and try to break the 4th wall as well.
I personally do not believe that BlueStar should be on this list, but I respect your opinion. Allow me to explain.
To me, BlueStar really brought a sense of hopelessness and just overall emotional breakdown in the story, which I respect. Although her emotions may seem over the top and she may seem dramatic, once you think about it deeper, it makes more sense.
All her life she had an incredible weight that switched from place to place, barely giving her enough time to really figure out what to logically do about it, so she decided to bottle up her emotions and replace it with focusing more on her clan instead of dwelling on the past, which is at the same time smart and stubborn.
After she found out that one of the only cats left that she felt she could trust killed off or at least tried to kill cats that she had very close to her, along with all the drama that was happening way to fast for her to make sense of it all, she could barely keep hold her weight anymore, and all the emotional torment that she had to hide away for most of her life just spilled out making her feel utterly defeated, and for me, that means a lot.
Velvet Wing Okay, but that doesn't give her an excuse to bring down her misery on literally everyone around her since she was an apprentice. Remember when she named Brightheart Lostface and indirectly caused Swiftpaw's death because she was too lazy to give them their warrior ceremonies sooner? She always thinks she's in the right, when she's clearly not over half the time. She's super bitter as well, and to me, bitter characters (especially ones who are bitter for no reason) aren't interesting to read about at all.
MapleshadeDarkRay_YT, I did not say she was excused for that. All I am saying is that she was a well developed character and that is it. This is what Akira was talking about. Many people hate characters because of their actions, and never seem to care if they are well developed or not, and that seems to be the case here.
Blue Jay yeah, but she neglected to take care of her clan because she was depressed. You shouldn't feel sorry for yourself to the point that you shun everyone around you. Especially if you are in a position of authority like blue star was. These cats deserve a leader that will actually be there for them.

Okay, so I am totally prepared to be hated, but I LOVE Ashfur. I am not just one of the fan girls that love the evil angsty villain, but I actually can really relate to him. From the confusion on how he handled his emotions to the loss in his life really made me connect to him.

I understand why people hate Ashfur and your points were much better than anybody else's. I kinda wished that the Erins made him feel super horrible or gave more insight on what happened to him after he died. There is no way that he was just sent to Starclan. He must've been in the Dark Forest first and begged to leave or he said he truly felt sorry.
Now that I think about it, the Erins should've put him in the final battle to add to his character instead of having him not exist at all (unless they did but I don't remember).
I'm sure the Erins had plenty of potential for Ashfur but threw him out as quick as possible.

Lionblaze-its cool to read about him getting over the fact that he's not invincible it shows a big part of the prophecy cats learning to live without their powers though dovewings was quite a bit cooler
Mapleshade-im changeing my mapleshade thing i have a pretty good defense for mapleshade because I really like her- so she is more interesting in death than in life like yes I was kinda disappointed by the novella but I like her for after her death and how she manipulates cats in order to get her revenge and definitely helps build up the suspense in crookedstars promise along with a multitude of the other books also she's i think the first female antagonist of the series so there my actual argument for mapleshade
Sol-sol was fun to read about and given more development in the manga if you haven't read skyclan and the stranger read it it's good so basically Sol was a kittypet(and the one responsible for harrybrooks horrible name yes leafstar named her kit after him) then joined skyclan under the name of sol after a while he got impatient stole leafstars kits before getting caught by waspwhisker and driven off swearing vengeance against the clans so he has a pretty decent backstory and I actually like him

I agree, but there's no excuse for Ashfur, Hawkfrost, or Cinderheart. Ashfur was a great guy his whole life and then boom! now he's trying to kill three cats. Hawkfrost was completely under developed and Mothwing should have gotten a few chapters in New Prophecy to fix that. Cinderheart is just Starclan taking pity on Cinderpelt so they gave her a new life just so she can have a boyfriend.

I was surprised about Mapleshade but now that you explain, I get it.
I really like the book when it first came out but I can see the flaws.
I feel it was supposed to get the super editions treatment but for some reason couldn't and decided " really why don't we just changed to novella? We already did it for Tigerstar. It will sell like hot cakes !"
Not realizing that we had 1 SE, 9 book with alive and 12 books as spirit to know about him. The only thing to do with Tigerstar was to explain his actions and how he became leader. It work because it made clear he honestly thought he was helping his clan, not realizing that blinded by his ambition and Mapleshade's guidance. He won Shadowclan because he gave his loyalty to them with a hidden price.
However, even though we know Mapleshade for 6 books before novella, we very little about her. All we know was she had kits with Crookedstar's great-grandfather, she got exile from her clan, lost her kits, rejected by her mate, cause some sort of trouble as rogue and swear revenge on her former mate family. There was no mention of murder before now and it shortened length it end up glorifying murder. If we have more seen her crazy or saw nothing good come out of it then maybe.
My only defense is the book does have a resolution but it very weak. It is to show why she continued to haunt her ex-mate family even if she got her revenge. I feel it would be stronger if they made a tenth chapter, something maybe tie in with to Crookedstar's SE.
This what I came up off the top of my head:
she see Crookedstar for the first time and can see there is greatness in him. Mapleshade swell in anger as think her past, the path to glory to a deputy maybe even leader that should have belong her or her kits or even kits' kins.
Now she must watch as this great honor be will surely given to light brown kit that never should've been born.
However, she stop and think. 'What if I train this kit? Could I make it so he would obey me and Me alone?' And in that was there in that stormy night, she decide she would use little stormkit. She would used Appledusk's kin to destroy ThunderClan, ruin RiverClan and end her faithless mate line once and for all. A rough purr pour out of her for the first time in countless moons.

Reading the story of Mapleshade was very upsetting. Her behavior and justification made no sense, and although her story was set in a time long before the main series, it made no sense that she was the only forbidden romance with actual direct punishment for her decision. The other books rely on social problems than the leader banishing a code-breaker.
i mean with new leaders, moat would see it differently. sure there are a LOT of code breakers but all of that doesnt have to resolve to banishment. they'll be losing too many cats over that.

Jackyoshi agreed. His reasoning for hating Mapleshade, though he can hate her, falls flat on its face for me. In Mapleshade’s vengeance, it was easy for me to see things from her side and, though I would have preferred a different outcome, like she realizes she was no better than the cats who sent her kits away to die by way of murder, I can at least show SOME sympathy to her. The many books she shows up in afterwards makes her a character that you would hate big time. He makes Appledusk, Frecklewish, and Ravenwing, and even Oakstar, to be made out to be completely pure of evil, but they have done some questionable things too. Oakstar banishes KITS for StarClans sake, kits barely out of the nursery. And for what? Because they were the offspring of the cat who he believed killed his son. Appledusk dumped and cheated on Mapleshade. Why? One of the reasons was coverup, and another was because she had brought the kits to a swollen stream and wondered why they drowned. Frecklewish was clouded by emotion and nearly KILLED Mapleshade. If she hadn’t tried going to RiverClan and her kits were still alive, what would they do if their mother passed away from a wound that was infected. And Ravenwing jumped to conclusions about the prophecy he saw when he knew darn well that StarClan is always vague. Even though their deaths weren’t right, what they did to Mapleshade, although understandable, was very flawed and led to the death of her and her kits.

I just can't take Brambleclaw AT ALL. He started out pretty nice in Midnight, his concept of "I'm not what people think of me" was pretty nice too... But then, out of sudden, he started bitching around after he started being the selfish trash and wanting to be deputy so badly while he was talking/hanging out with his OBVIOUSLY evil brother (the meetings with Tigerstar and his crooked motives would be enough, c'mon. You must be so naive not to notice that Hawkfrost had evil intentions), defending him to Squirrelflight (who was trying to warn him about it) saying that he loves her sister the same way and then saying "oooh, you dont belive me becous uf mah futher, im not evil as mah futher". MAN, I NEEDED TO HOLD MYSELF NOT TO SKIP HIS POINT OF VIEW CHAPTERS.

I’m a bit late to the party but I have to say something to defend Lionblaze’s honor.
He’s not boring. He’s the best of the Three. Also, since when did Jayfeather get a whole lot of development? When he went to the Moonpool a thousand times? Plus, it’s not like Dovewing is very interesting. Her whole “personality” is that she likes Tigerheart.
Lionblaze is just so fun and interesting. He was a great change of character, considering all the previous protagonists were all serious and formal, whereas Lionblaze is more goofy and funny. He’s my very favorite character, and he’s been through so much, lost so much, and just doesn’t get enough appreciation.
I was disappointed when you mentioned Bluestar, but when you brought up Lionblaze, Cinderheart, and Alderheart, all was forgiven. I liked Alderheart at first but now he bores me. And then Ashfur came and I screamed praises to Starclan.
Though Mapleshade did break my heart but eh, you had enough to agree with to not be upset.

I think Mapleshade was definitely NOT written well. The idea was okay, but they didn't paint her out and execute her in the right way. If it had been done well, I personally think that Mapleshades vengeance would be AMAZING.

Honestly, and this is only an opinion.. Firestar was mostly the most predictable cat in the Warriors series. "Fire will save the clans." We basically all knew that he would've been the one to do it anyways. Also, he had a forbidden love with Spottedleaf but when she died he moved onto Sandstorm even though he still had feelings for Spottedleaf. Those are the only two things that really bothered me the most about him. But if you understand how I feel then I really appreciate it.

Maybe the reason why mapleshade is the way she is is due to a mental illness. She doesn’t know how or just can’t react to a breakup normally within reason. Same with ashfur. Their behaviors just aren’t normal.
Remember when Brokenstar mass murdering and child labour was shown as disgusting and not getting the abused as kit pass yet every villan after him was treated like a gud boi who go kill but it fine.

Personally, I really like Sol. He was different compared to the other villains, I was really unsure if he was meant to be a good or bad guy at first. And his time in the mangas was also interesting, imo.
As for Ashfur, I don't like him at all. But I think his behavior is born from his time as a kit/apprentice. From his mother dying, he learned seeking revenge is okay (nobody had time to correct him because of the dogs and Tigerstar), he never learned that there's other ways to solve stuff, and by attacking the dogs he thought violence would be a suitable revenge. And in the battle of Bloodclan he learned solving problems with violence is also okay (once again, nobody would correct him). That's why he snapped when Squirrelflight rejected him. He saw it as another problem, that he solves with violence, because that's what he was taught. But that's just what I think.
And Mapleshade, actually...
She had a weakness before everything happened. Something was off from the very start. Yes, it's very subtle, but it's there. It might be difficult for the normal person to notice, but I did notice it. There was something about the way she thought, the way she acted, what she believed in... Something was wrong. She had a weakness mentally from before. By loosing her clan, her kits and her mate, that little weakness became a huge problem.
That, of course, does NOT forgive her or justify her actions, murder is wrong! But it explains it a little bit. I feel like her story would've been better as a super edition instead, then they could've explored that weakness more than they did. Maybe show us how she got it, was it from birth? Was it an event that triggered it? Was there a cat teaching her bad lessons? Who knows. We sure don't
The novella was, by the way, written from HER point of view. That's why murder is viewed as "good", because SHE thought so

Mapleshade's my 4th favorite cat, and if I were in her shoes after literally everyone betrayed her, I'd probably go crazy and murder everyone too. I watched a video (Draiknator video) which made my hate for appledusk and love for mapleshade higher. It explained that mapleshade's only real option was riverclan, where she would most likely be yelled at. Mapleshade is a 'different' villain in my opinion. She didn't choose to be a villain, she was basically forced to.

You are right, she is one of my favorite characters but how she just kind of acts like how she wants to die and how she just doesn't shown any emotional and doesn't bother to clean and prune herself any more...it's just..idk, but what really made me lighten up and just love her is that moment she (SPOILER ALERT) knocked the dog off the cliff, she risked her life to save Thunderclan. That made me feel guilty for not liking her.

I hate Bramblestar because his development is stupid!

I hate Millie because she focused only on Briarlight and never payed attention to her other kids!!!!
I hate Palebird,Featherstorm and Brightflower because they never showed care to their kittens and forgot about them completely. And Palebird is the worst because she forgot all about Talltail, Finchkit and Sandgorse and moved on with stupid Woolytail and then forgot all about Hopkit. Overall some stupid characters.

I actually hate Bramblestar.
I disagree with mapleahade and only mapleshade because well ahe is my favorite villain because she doesn't have the simple over reused power hungry thing almost every other villain does and she was killing them at the fact she had nothing left her kits dead her clan refuseing to except her and her grief blinded her and she wanted justice and thats what she saw as justice and that each cat she killed was one that basicly made the deaths of her kits happen and the love and bond between a mother and her childeren is strong enough for the loss of the to push and unstable mother to that and before she seemed to have an interseting charater in place but i agree that the story was rushed it was only about 1/3 the size of a normal book so i understood why but i know its just your opinion and this is just mine so if you ever actually read this i would be surprised but otherwise o agree on all the other characters and thx for the work you put into the videos i enjoy them

Maple shade has just been through a lot of emotional trauma and grief those cats did betray her like appledusk just dumped her.
About Bluestar. There's more about her in Bluestar's Prophecy and that she did carry a heavy burden about her kits Mistyfoot and Stonefur, her death wasn't expected in my view it was sudden, but also sad and saved Thunderclan from certain destruction and Firestar's life. So she is never one of the worst cats.
Alderheart is actually my favorite character in Warriors. In the Apprentice’s Quest, his anxiousness and self-doubt, along with his failures at being a warrior and completing his quest was very interesting to me. It set him apart from every other perfect, sawdust protagonist in Warriors. (Like Leafstar) However, I really wish they would have expanded on his arc. He has so much potential as a character and instead of developing him, they wasted all the development on Twigpaw and Violetpaw lol. Also, Lionblaze is one of my favorites as well. I loved his struggle with his power and bloodlust, and he actually developed a lot throughout the overall serial. In the POT, he was an arrogant, selfish, immature apprentice. However, as OotS progressed, he grew into a more mature and responsible cat and a great mentor to Dovewing. Sorry for the long rant😂I totally agree with Cindepelt! My personal least favorite is Leafpool. Great video, sorry again for this essay😂

@@kyaschafer7357 Alright. Appledusk never called his kits a mistake. He implied it he cared about the kits and blamed Mapleshade.
I mean, she caused they're deaths. Plus, would you ruin your life just for a forbidden mate? He's technically in the right.
But on Mapleshade's point of view, she wouldn't have known the river was flooded, she's a thunderclan cat, a mother, it was possible she was too focused on getting a home for her kits she didn't notice that the river had flooded.

@@astronic9979 actually you're 100% right, Appledusk is vilified because we only saw things from Mapleshades POV, things would be much different if we heard his side.
