Another thing; White-eye was nursing kits around the time Bluefur made that choice. So, if she *actually talked with Sunstar and White-eye*, she could've had it arranged to where White-eye would nurse Bluefur's kits while she was busy with deputy duties. *sarcastic slow clapping* Great job, Bluefur!
True, but that's really just because both Goosefeather and Bluefur thought that Thistleclaw would become deputy if they didn't do something, but Sunstar was hardly even *considering* Thistleclaw as a candidate. Sunstar's thought process was basically, "Thistleclaw's strong, but too aggressive, next candidate." So even if Bluestar hadn't given up her kits, there still most likely wouldn't have been a real problem.

TBF, who were her options? Whitestorm, Tigerclaw, and... Darkstripe??? Obviously it should've been Whitestorm, but ThunderClan was also dealing with RiverClan and Brokenstar's ShadowClan so they needed some strength in their corner.

But nah cause Whitestorm is Thistleclaw's son and apparently that makes him sooo much worse then Tigerclaw somehow. I'm kinda glad he wasn't chosen though cause Tigerclaw would have probably taken him out too (then again that could mean getting Longtail as Firestar's possible first deputy though and that would have been cool

Let's be honest, Goosefeather played a HUGE part in bluefurs conviction and belief. everything was working against bluefur, and we know she later regretted it. Bluestar literally went insane, and the grief of the past played aa big part in that.
Bluestar made many mistakes. I think her worst mistake was bringing Snowfur to thunderpath were she died. Without her dying, the complete story would be different. Btw I really don't like Bluestar and her relationship with Oakheart because it was so out of the blue.
Nice video. I totally agree with you. It always bugged me when people complain how Bluestar didn't choose Thrushpelt when he was so nice. Well, for one, she didn't love him. And for two, she didn't love him. I mean, honestly, no matter how nice someone's nice to you, you're not gonna force yourself to have feelings for him, and it's not gonna make you a horrible person. The whole point of Thrushpelt is that he perfectly understand it.
I think the only thing I did not agree with Bluestar toward Thrushpelt is... Not telling him who where her kit's dad or asked help to transfert her kits to riverclan. Like, I don't know, but I do not think he would have been antagonist to her plan. Like, please, miss, you had one cat that just wanted you to be happy (even if it was without him). Now that I think about it, she must probably have felt something seeing Firestar knowing about Silverstream&Greystripe.

It was not just her life, but her kits life on the line (not saying they would've been killed, but impacted somehow), no matter how nice he was, she might not have want to play with her kits life. Even when you think you know and trust someone, everything can brutally change if you tell them something they strongly disagree with. Second. Telling the truth to him was making him share her crime. If Thunderclan found out, and also, somehow, they found out that he knew all along, he would be considered to be at fault too for covering for her (remember how Squilf had to defend herself in front of Starclan for covering up for Leafpool.... Even though she was forced too.)

I always noticed a parallel between Bluestar and Snowfur with their love interests. Snowfur and Bluefur used to think Oakheart was a cocky, arrogant warrior, only Bluefur realized he wasn't later. Though Snowfur still insisted he was. Bluefur thought that Thistleclaw was also cocky and arrogant, as well as very fierce with others. Snowfur didn't, and was mooning over him since apprenticehood. They were also wrong in their own way- Oakheart and Bluefur was illegal. Thistleclaw was actually a bad, fierce cat according to the books(though I don't really go with Spottedleaf's Heart as being canon, OotS was still a thing).
Sunstar could’ve chosen Thrushpelt he had spottedleaf when she was doing warriors training and sunstar wanted someone young Thrushpelt is young he also had a apprentice which is a requirement of being deputy I think the Erin’s just wanted drama so they ignore this factor but Bluestar’s prophecy is still a good book
I feel like a lot of Bluestar’s decisions were influenced by the fact she grew up around loss. It’s the only thing she knew. It’s like how kids in abusive households grow up to find partners who abuse them. They gravitate toward trauma because it’s what they know. The same could be said for Bluestar. Desperate and searching for a quick fix to her problems, she gravitated to the only thing she knew- loss. She would lose her kits to save her clan, because she knew how to navigate loss and knew how that particular grief felt.
BlueStar’s Big Mistake(s) … Most of her entire life and life choices. *jk* .... But still! Come on! When someone tells you that your ‘most trusted deputy’ is a cold blooded murderous killer, don’t just ‘meh’ those claims away! For the love of StarClan! Look into it a bit! Gosh dang it all. Honestly, I feel that Bluestar was mentally ill While she was in grief for her relatives, and corrupted by Goosefeather’s prophecies, she thought about thistleclaw becoming deputy ruining the clan, all of that caused her to not think straight, which leads to her sacrificing her kits When everything went wrong with the deputies she chose, she felt as if it wasn’t worth it. She felt like everything that she did was worthless. So she battled with Starclan thinking they were to blame for everything she went through (the prophecy). She felt like she was destined to suffer

Honestly, If Bluefur had just gone up to Sunstar and said, "Trust me, Thistleclaw if not a good choice. He will be the downfall of Thunderclan." Then Sunstar would believe her, he loved her as his own daughter, and trusted her. Sigh, Thrushpelt might have been a good leader, who knows.
Can we also talk about the pure grief she caused Thrushpelt when she said the kits died? Like how afterwards he was described as grieving like a father would. Also the trama she gave to Brightheart was unmistakable.
Does anyone else agree that Bluestar's Prophecy is the SADDEST book? It's just my opinion but I was up at 4am reading about Mosskit's death CRYING. Lmao Edit: I also cried in Moonflower's death, Sunfall talking to Bluepaw about needing to move on, Snowfur's death, Bluefur telling Whitekit about Snowfur's death, Bluefur telling Oakheart that they can't be together, and of course when it talked about them searching the camp for an entire moon looking for the 'lost' kits.
I can agree with her biggest mistake but not the part about Oakheart. I as a BlueOak shipper am of course here to defend my ship!!!: I don't agree with your part on Oakheart being a person she was curious about but didn't want any future commitments with because she and Oak are mates in Starclan. Surely if that was the case you'd think she'd like Oakheart for a bit more then his looks and reputation. I think Oakheart and Bluestar is a perfect pairing. On one side you have Bluestar, a cynical character who constantly is living in the past and never lets go of death. Then you have Oakheart who despite having a brave exterior is a fun-loving character who cares more for the future and recognizes that life just goes on. Two complete opposites who compliment each other a lot. It does a lot more than say Crookedstar and Bluestar because they're too similar to be anything more then friends. They recognize each other as respected leaders but Crookedstar is too loyal and would probably be too serious for Bluestar. Bluestar acted like a whole different person when around Oakheart but in the end she was the more responsible one and Oakheart wasn't too good when it came to decision making. That's when their relationship hit a turn when kits were introduced. Bluestar however being the responsible one took them to Riverclan and was a moment of development for Oakheart to step up and act like a real deputy would and take the kits in. However after Bluestar losing another life at her paws for probably nothing and having no one to comfort her she probably wouldn't find her way back to Oakheart. As well as that Oakheart learning more about responsibility from Bluestar and him having to raise two kits now he left part of his fun-loving self behind with their relationship to instead focus on priorities. Of course this doesn't mark the end of their relationship just for Bluestar's Prophecy. A bit more development in the main series and then they meet in Starclan and get to be themselves. So in conclusion their opposite personalities happened to make them the perfect pair but of course caused future strain in their relationship at least until they both met in Starclan again.

Warriors cat series is a youth/young adult novel. But the Erin know the book would reach the hands of children so they censor it. Just like a "Dangerous Path". No joke the new version of the book was missing pages when I was reading it.

Nooo! Her biggest mistake was having unreal fur schemes. WHAT TYPE OF CAT HAS PURPLE-GREY-BLUE fur? DARNIT BLUESTAR. (I know it’s not her fault it’s the writing team-her parents) Sorry Bluestar but it had to be said.
While genetically she's not a Russian Blue the Erin's don't care about genetics. They base pelt colours of actual cats including purebred ones. So while she may not be a Russian Blue by realism, her pelt colour is definitely based off one.
In any picture of Oakheart he ALWAYS looks charming and nice I’ve never seen a picture of him that’s not charming and nice.It gives him a better reputation.
To be honest I didn't have any trouble with her giving the kits at the end of the book, that desicion made sense but I feel like they should've explored bluefur and Oakheart more. I think the way akira thinks of bluefur's mindset makes sense but there really is no hints in the book to make that conclusion while reading it. And since we only see them spend true quality time together once at fourtrees, it feels very weird. Love your explanation tho akira!
I actually don’t ship Bluestar with Oakheart or Thrushpelt... I ship her with Crookedstar. Mainly because of their interactions at the gatherings in their super editions.
Bluestar could have said “I found these kits out in the snow and I would like a Queen/cat to take care of them so they can be a member of ThunderClan.” Or something like that
I like Bluestar because she's such a complex character. She tries to do the right thing but she messes up big time and has to live with the consequences, which is a very relatable conflict. And I think in the end, for most of her life, she was able to rise above the mistakes she made in the past and become a great leader.
What about Goosefeather? Sure, he gave her the prophecy, but he was also pressing her to become deputy. All I can say is, that I can relate to Bluestar in some way, because she's the type of character that doesn't work well under pressure and suffering.
In my opinion Bluestar is calm and wise soul. Who made a lot of hard and difficult choices in her past. Then in the present she lose three Thunderclan deputy and good Thunderclan cats die. Everything she done to save the clans did nothing, even giving up her own family didn't change the darkest events to unfold. So she put all her faith and hope in a flames colored ginger tom from Two-leg place. Who was once rised as a kittypet named rusty with a compassionate and selfless heart. Bluestar taught her new apprentice/adopted son as true member of her family and teach him ways of the warrior code in order to rewrite the mistakes of the past and add light in the darkness, confusion during those chaos times of Brokenstar and Tigerstar.
I watched the minute this was posted! But Bluestar learned from some of her mistakes. Most of these weren't her fault. Like, being angry after her sis and her mom passed. I am still heartbroken that my Grandpa died, and it has been months!
I simply adore Bluestar! But feel like they could've done more with her character. I think the only real mistake she made was naming Brightheart Lostface but she was still as I would put it "Mad as a hatter" and still grieving over who she lost which was I guess around 6 cats. But it was still a no-no on her part.
And I agree with Akira she did live a life of loss and just needed someone to lean on, we all do. I think Sunstar was the only one who was guiding her the right way along with Rosetail and Goosefeather.
Okay, sure, Thrushpelt might’ve been nice, but even if they’re nice then you still don’t have to downright LOVE them! There are plenty of nice people with crushes that aren’t returned in the world, hahaaa. Basically, not Bluefur’s fault that she didn’t like Thrushpelt all that much.
I'm glad servers for Warrior's roleplay has it that deputy's and leaders can have kits, I have a deputy character, Sparrowflight, who was deputy before kits, had a litter of three, and there was a temporary deputy while she was nursing them, after she finished nursing them, she had their father look after them when she was too busy.
Bluestar is a grumpy cat mixed with a kind cat mixed with a fierce cat and mixed with a stressed cat. Bluestar didn't deserve a bad life. She had to suffer from PTSD after tigerclaw/star attacked him. Atleast she sacrificed herself to save her clan and join starclan.
Tbh I don't get why people get so mad over Bluestar not making Brightpaw and Swiftpaw warrioes + naming Brightpaw Lostface...? 1) Back then, apprentices became warriors when the LEADER deemed them worthy. I mean, she did the same to Firestar and Greystripe, so why's it so bad if she did it again? Maybe her reason to make Cloudtail warrior was pretty dumb, but it was still her reason. And if you're asking me, Bright and Swift literally proved her correct by making a massive fuss and nearly getting themselves killed out of pride, while Swiftpaw did. I get it, they were rightfully upset. But they didn't have to go so far. They just acted immiturely. 2) For one, she thought Brightpaw was dead. She didn't think she'd have to "live all her days as Lostface". And secondly, that's...just what they did back then. We already have cats like One-eye, Halftail, Deadfoot...Lostface is no worse, so why is it suddenly so bad?
Deadfoot was actually happy about his name. It's still a cruel issue to randomly change the name of you warriors because they got hurt. 'Oh our warrior was attacked by a dog, let's not let her forget about it, ever, by naming her out of pure spite.' It's still shitty. Doesn't matter if she thought she was dead. That was a name she'd have to take to Starclan. Bluestar named her in pure spite and anger at Starclan. There was no reason to bring an innocent cat into her hate. She didn't make Cloudtail deputy? She made him a warrior because he didn't believe in Starclan. Again, making cats feel bad because she wanted to be Spiteful.

While she was in grief for her relatives, and corrupted by Goosefeather’s prophecies, she thought about thistleclaw becoming deputy ruining the clan, all of that caused her to not think straight, which leads to her sacrificing her kits
When everything went wrong with the deputies she chose, she felt as if it wasn’t worth it. She felt like everything that she did was worthless. So she battled with Starclan thinking they were to blame for everything she went through (the prophecy). She felt like she was destined to suffer

Edit: I also cried in Moonflower's death, Sunfall talking to Bluepaw about needing to move on, Snowfur's death, Bluefur telling Whitekit about Snowfur's death, Bluefur telling Oakheart that they can't be together, and of course when it talked about them searching the camp for an entire moon looking for the 'lost' kits.

I don't agree with your part on Oakheart being a person she was curious about but didn't want any future commitments with because she and Oak are mates in Starclan. Surely if that was the case you'd think she'd like Oakheart for a bit more then his looks and reputation. I think Oakheart and Bluestar is a perfect pairing. On one side you have Bluestar, a cynical character who constantly is living in the past and never lets go of death. Then you have Oakheart who despite having a brave exterior is a fun-loving character who cares more for the future and recognizes that life just goes on. Two complete opposites who compliment each other a lot. It does a lot more than say Crookedstar and Bluestar because they're too similar to be anything more then friends. They recognize each other as respected leaders but Crookedstar is too loyal and would probably be too serious for Bluestar. Bluestar acted like a whole different person when around Oakheart but in the end she was the more responsible one and Oakheart wasn't too good when it came to decision making. That's when their relationship hit a turn when kits were introduced. Bluestar however being the responsible one took them to Riverclan and was a moment of development for Oakheart to step up and act like a real deputy would and take the kits in. However after Bluestar losing another life at her paws for probably nothing and having no one to comfort her she probably wouldn't find her way back to Oakheart. As well as that Oakheart learning more about responsibility from Bluestar and him having to raise two kits now he left part of his fun-loving self behind with their relationship to instead focus on priorities. Of course this doesn't mark the end of their relationship just for Bluestar's Prophecy. A bit more development in the main series and then they meet in Starclan and get to be themselves.
So in conclusion their opposite personalities happened to make them the perfect pair but of course caused future strain in their relationship at least until they both met in Starclan again.

While genetically she's not a Russian Blue the Erin's don't care about genetics. They base pelt colours of actual cats including purebred ones. So while she may not be a Russian Blue by realism, her pelt colour is definitely based off one.
I always think about how if Bluestar had kits with Tigerclaw they would all be purple or black.....

To be honest I didn't have any trouble with her giving the kits at the end of the book, that desicion made sense but I feel like they should've explored bluefur and Oakheart more. I think the way akira thinks of bluefur's mindset makes sense but there really is no hints in the book to make that conclusion while reading it. And since we only see them spend true quality time together once at fourtrees, it feels very weird. Love your explanation tho akira!

I like Bluestar because she's such a complex character. She tries to do the right thing but she messes up big time and has to live with the consequences, which is a very relatable conflict. And I think in the end, for most of her life, she was able to rise above the mistakes she made in the past and become a great leader.

What about Goosefeather? Sure, he gave her the prophecy, but he was also pressing her to become deputy. All I can say is, that I can relate to Bluestar in some way, because she's the type of character that doesn't work well under pressure and suffering.
In my opinion Bluestar is calm and wise soul. Who made a lot of hard and difficult choices in her past. Then in the present she lose three Thunderclan deputy and good Thunderclan cats die. Everything she done to save the clans did nothing, even giving up her own family didn't change the darkest events to unfold.
So she put all her faith and hope in a flames colored ginger tom from Two-leg place. Who was once rised as a kittypet named rusty with a compassionate and selfless heart. Bluestar taught her new apprentice/adopted son as true member of her family and teach him ways of the warrior code in order to rewrite the mistakes of the past and add light in the darkness, confusion during those chaos times of Brokenstar and Tigerstar.

But Bluestar learned from some of her mistakes. Most of these weren't her fault. Like, being angry after her sis and her mom passed. I am still heartbroken that my Grandpa died, and it has been months!
I simply adore Bluestar! But feel like they could've done more with her character. I think the only real mistake she made was naming Brightheart Lostface but she was still as I would put it "Mad as a hatter" and still grieving over who she lost which was I guess around 6 cats. But it was still a no-no on her part.
And I agree with Akira she did live a life of loss and just needed someone to lean on, we all do. I think Sunstar was the only one who was guiding her the right way along with Rosetail and Goosefeather.
And OOF I wish Sunstar would've told her sooooner >:(

I'm glad servers for Warrior's roleplay has it that deputy's and leaders can have kits, I have a deputy character, Sparrowflight, who was deputy before kits, had a litter of three, and there was a temporary deputy while she was nursing them, after she finished nursing them, she had their father look after them when she was too busy.

Tbh I don't get why people get so mad over Bluestar not making Brightpaw and Swiftpaw warrioes + naming Brightpaw Lostface...?
1) Back then, apprentices became warriors when the LEADER deemed them worthy. I mean, she did the same to Firestar and Greystripe, so why's it so bad if she did it again? Maybe her reason to make Cloudtail warrior was pretty dumb, but it was still her reason. And if you're asking me, Bright and Swift literally proved her correct by making a massive fuss and nearly getting themselves killed out of pride, while Swiftpaw did. I get it, they were rightfully upset. But they didn't have to go so far. They just acted immiturely.
2) For one, she thought Brightpaw was dead. She didn't think she'd have to "live all her days as Lostface". And secondly, that's...just what they did back then. We already have cats like One-eye, Halftail, Deadfoot...Lostface is no worse, so why is it suddenly so bad?
Deadfoot was actually happy about his name. It's still a cruel issue to randomly change the name of you warriors because they got hurt. 'Oh our warrior was attacked by a dog, let's not let her forget about it, ever, by naming her out of pure spite.'
It's still shitty. Doesn't matter if she thought she was dead. That was a name she'd have to take to Starclan. Bluestar named her in pure spite and anger at Starclan. There was no reason to bring an innocent cat into her hate.
She didn't make Cloudtail deputy? She made him a warrior because he didn't believe in Starclan. Again, making cats feel bad because she wanted to be Spiteful.
