    this apology is disingenuous b.s. i had the same experience at a Starbucks on record at Crenshaw and Washington in Los Angeles a while back made a complaint the district manager called me back a very disrespectful and rude person and said its company policy tell the management to react and call cops on people who are "waiting" i told her white customers were not being harassed she blamed me when she know its bias towards "certain people Starbucks has a history victim shaming a huge part of the paying public for years from my personal experience i own a Starbucks card and could shop at any given moment when im there but sitting while being black is an issue while others get to enjoy a different preferentially laxed treatment in regards to using wifi meetings etc. Starbucks has finally been exposed the apology is only because they got caught executives management employees and some customers watched for years and said nothing about this opendoor policy with white people and "are you gonna buy something" to blacks there has been a double standard for years.

      major dodson I'm Hispanic and I have dealt with Racial Profiling and Persecution at the Starbucks located in Georgetown KY, when you make a complain at the store and collect evidence they call the cops on you, pull the trespassing card, they play along and gang up to intimidate you and this includes a group of racist regulars from the store, yes they victim shame, district management and customer service department are disrespectful, careless, prepotent and try to flip it on you, employees feel empowered because CORPORATE encourages this behavior, they do nothing about it and I have spent hundreds at that store, here if you are brown no one has your back and blacks behave no different than whites, these two guys had the luck of having the community supporting them, otherwise they would be in jail! Justice is being served since it went viral!

Hey Starbucks apologize when you get caught or dont encourage the bias in the first place! they know this is the company policy of discrimination people have seen it for years and stood by doing Zero Starbucks discourages and ignores complaints this is them caught with ther pants down trying to clean it up.

    • @nicifclean
      @nicifclean 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope because the point is that Starbucks itself creates this atmospheric tone based on their company's structure to "loiter." How many people have to come out and say they have gone there not bought a thing, used the bathroom no problem, hook up laptops, charge their phones and never bothered for you all to stop the B.S. and get that for this company business model they cannot promote that kind of environment and then selectively enforce that policy.

    Starbucks has a no purchase policy...which given some exceptions... customers can sit in Starbucks without purchasing anything the CEO has said this and the Philadelphia police chief also reiterated this policy that he claims his officers were unaware of...so it begs to question why this white manager thought it was ok to subvert company policy when it came to two black men that weren’t creating a nuisance? I could understand if this particular branch was a franchise and the actual owner had a different policy...but it is not...and most Starbucks in North America are not franchises they are company owned therefore they have to adhere to the guidelines of the company

    • @davitaveritas7414
      @davitaveritas7414 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fatimah X
      It appears the manager called because this particular location is seemingly one of those exceptions to the no-purchase policy. In his apology video, CEO Johnson alluded to the fact that some stores within the Philadelphia area are permitted to deviate somewhat from standard company dictates. I suspect this is due primarily to the overall gentrification of this neighborhood and the need to suppress the amount of loitering and vagrancy in and around the store.
      During the same video, Mr. Johnson also stated it would be inappropriate to admonish this manager for her actions, presumably because he is aware it was the company itself that permitted her to implement the "pay-to-stay" protocol. While I am aware that this may simply be a smokescreen, I suspect if she truly was guilty of racial bias, it likely would have surfaced long before this incident, and I do not assume for one minute Mr. Johnson is simply being altruistic.
      That said, whatever the Police Commissioner may think regarding store policy is completely immaterial; the authorities were summoned to a trespass call, and once the manager requested these individuals be removed from the store, the responding officers were obliged to comply. Considering they did so with integrity and professionalism, they deserve much more accolades than they are currently receiving.
      Despite the widespread indignation, by what right does anyone assert someone can remain on private property without permission?

    • @fatimahx9626
      @fatimahx9626 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Davita Veritas The CEO said that there are certain exceptions to the “no purchase policy” homeless people using Starbucks as a dwelling and obviously solicitors...but he never said that this area was exempt...furthermore the police chief said that given their limited knowledge of Starbucks policy the officers acted within the scope of the law...but if they would have know about Starbucks policy at that specific location then they would not have arrested the two men.

    • @davitaveritas7414
      @davitaveritas7414 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      • Fatimah X
      There would be nothing to gain by alluding to a policy that had no impact on this event if it was not somehow materially relevant. If not, all that needed to be stated was that this store's protocols were in direct violation of Starbuck's ethos and therefore the manager in question is no longer with the company.
      In addition, during his mea culpa Mr. Johnson practically tripped over himself attempting to shield this employee from the social excoriation she is currently experiencing. If the CEO had demonstrable evidence that this escapade was initiated due to her overt racial prejudice, rest assured he would have vociferously and publicly denounced this young woman for her abhorrent actions, if only to expunge the taint of intolerance and inequity from the Starbucks' brand.
      Again, the police do not determine who can or cannot remain on private property once they are deemed unwelcome. Even if the manager walked outside and dragged these individuals into the store proclaiming them to be honored guests, if she subsequently asks them to leave they must oblige or be considered trespassing. It is clear the Commissioner was acting upon the tremendous pressure placed upon him by both city officials and the minority community at-large to atone for the perfectly legitimate actions taken by his officers, and was compelled to distance both the city and himself from any further civil liability.
      Considering the public remains blind as to what initially transpired that precipitated this fiasco, it remains paramount that all the facts be made available and assessed before leaping to potentially inaccurate and harmful conclusions.

    • @fatimahx9626
      @fatimahx9626 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination by privately owned places of public accommodation...so no the manager did not have this blanketed right to refuse service and ask these men to leave...furthermore this “no service” practice that you want to claim existed was not implemented across the board...there have been several white patrons of that Starbucks that have admitted in interviews to staying in that Starbucks for hours without purchasing anything and not being approached by the manager...why do you think that many of the white patrons initial reaction was one of disgust...one white man caught on camera yelling “what did they do?”...where they too under this imaginary “pressure” that you elude to...No that was a reaction to something those customers knew they had done a thousand times...but was being denied to two African American men who were subsequently arrested...not charged and later released...and what you are saying about commissioner Ross being under “pressure” is none sense...he self has said that all of the fan fare aside...knowing what he knows now this situation hurts him to the core...because he African American...No police Commissioner is going to admit to wrong doing on behalf of his officers and open his department up to a lawsuit if there wasn’t something to it...I have attached the article where Commissioner Ross takes
      back his original assertion that his officers acted in accordance of the law...the article also goes on to state that the two men received a settlement on behalf of Starbucks and Starbucks is mandating new Race sensitivity training to combat any “unconscious bias”... a that truly felt that this was an isolated non racial incident would just issue an apology...pay the men off and go on business as usual.

    To all the homeless people out there in America. I once was homeless myself and it was very hard to find a place that I could wash up you know take a spot shower wash my hair get under my armpits wash my dirty underwear I had no bathroom so I would be lucky enough to find a restaurant such as Starbucks that has an open bathroom policy. So I say to you my fellow homeless Americans Goforth to all the Starbucks and use their bathroom it is free it is okay they even said so they're training their employees to welcome you and the tables and chairs they don't care if you have a seat and stay as long as you want. They won't throw you out don't worry it's hot outside come on Inn and stay awhile you can even bring your own food and water. So haven't seat and take your shoes off and relax. Because Starbucks policy is y'all come back now ya hear.
