I've been going to Starbucks 20 years. Not anymore.
Finally, Douchebag Schultz has given me a reason to get my coffee and pastries elsewhere.

A Starbucks Conversation about Race - the Racetogether program to examine our racism. Howard Schultz CEO OF STARBUCKS, contradicted himself on racial bias. First he says everybody has racial bias, and thus the need for the program/talk about it, and then he says he doesn't have racial bias. The implication: It's just the rest of us that are racists. The Starbucks barista/girl did not follow his contradictory lead in this interview on you tube/janhelfeld.

Schulz claims the program is "voluntary", but no program that is ever instituted and promoted by the CEO of ANY company is EVER truly "voluntary".
We all know what this means. It means, that even employees who don't WANT to participate, will receive indirect pressure to do so. For example, if almost all of your fellow employees at your store do this, and you don't, then it's almost certain the word will get out that you're "not a team player."
And, being labeled as such, is just one step away from being unemployed, sooner rather than later.

Company's not gonna last long if people are leaving because the line is being held up by people trying to have meaningful conversations that will likely just become ugly arguments. People just wanna be served

The truth is people learn racism from their families and they don't want to change. Making people talk about this subject is like talking religion, I laugh when people talk about how advanced we are. People still want to live in the 1800's. How many people all over sit in Starbucks just for the wifi? But 2 black men were arrested for just sitting there. I'm glad they remained calm during this crap.
