The whole modern day hyperloop craze was to launder money. Hyperloop was conceptualized in the 50’s I believe, but not pursued due to it being cost prohibited. At least in the civilian world anyway.
The US likely has a hyperloop connecting Black Sites across North America where Black Projects are carried out, the budget of which sucks up the majority of the insanely large defense budget along with the drug trade profits. Theres likely a Hyperloop on the Moon and Mars already too.
For context, the Jet Age became obsolete in 1957.
