Changing a Top End on a 65cc Dirtbike - Easy or Not?

  • Is changing the top end really hard to do on a GasGas MC65 or KTM 65sx? Not really as any mechanically inclined Dad can do it. This is my 2nd or 3rd one but we do it to keep the kids going!

    I could tell you which base gasket to use. It's the squish. Ideally, you use a decking/timing tool. Nihilo has great ones. The base gasket thickness determines tdc (top dead center), and a decking/timing tool or measuring squish makes sure the piston is getting to the correct tdc, not short or top tall A perfectly tdc bike makes sure every available compression is met and the spark happens correctly and is not late or too early.
