  • The reason what happened at PT: Amsterdam was BECAUSE of the meta... not in SPITE of it.

    As someone who has won 2 large proquests (40+ players in each) and qualified for Nats with uzuri, you are 100% correct. He had a lot of auto losses with his build that he didn't have to run up against. He played well yes, made a good meta call yes, but yes, also got incredibly lucky with his GEM pairings. LSS couldn't have scripted a better finish for this PT.

      Yeah dodging 19 kanos is incredibly fortunate, definitely a fair bit of a luck in the win, but such is the way of competitive card games

    Anyone who thinks Uzuri winning means the meta is less solved than we think is gravely mistaken. Uzuri won because the meta is exactly as solved as we think it is. Solved metas present the opportunity to cheat your deck to extremes. Exactly like you mention with 0 AB - those are sb slots they had available to them for other matchups

    First of all, very nice touch on mentioning Shoma's name (last name then first) in that respect! :D
    I definitely agree with your take, and I also agree with what DMArmada mentioned earlier this morning in that most folks were not expecting to play against Uzuri (thus, they did not / barely got any reps into playing against her). We have a myriad of heroes in CC, and even though there are the top few that folks are expecting to play against (Zen, Nuu, Enigma, Prism, Kayo, etc), it's just tough to cover and get substantial reps against every single possible hero going into major competitions like this.
    Shoma made a great call for the meta. He showed tremendous mastery of piloting the hero + I wouldn't be surprised if he probably felt/knew that most folks were going to be unprepared to play against Uzuri. He took a calculated risk in not bringing AB in hopes of dodging Kano (which paid off). He took advantage of how the meta was. He played extremely well all throughout, and won the PT. That's how I look at it.

    The winner was on a couple of live streams. He made a very good call for the meta. From watching him he played that deck with great skill. It doesn't look like the easiest deck to pilot. Go commando.

    For Uzuri it was a tiny threadhole to gain LL Points in CC. As an Assasin Player myself i always find it difficult myself looking for the best Inventory to cover all the situation. So taking a no AB approach would never cross my mind. But with the upcoming Rosetta-Set. the Assasins Class would vanished back into the dark alleys of the pit till the next time they found the opportunity to strike. Or they get a Buyback Equipment with AB1.

    I mean... it helps Uzuri got help from Part the Mistveil anyway. A lot of the great Assassin cards from MST are talent-less which bolstered Uzuri. But I guess people skip over that. 1 out of the top 8 weren't a class that wasn't in MST. That in itself should tell people something. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to Rosetta either due to more talent-based heroes. I feel like it's going to be yet another power creep.

    • @stephenpenn2248
      @stephenpenn2248 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same here. Not looking forward to Rosetta either. More heroes, more variety among match ups, more power creep, more complexity,... More chances of getting my teeth kicked in simply because I can't keep up with all the match ups. As n gets larger, n*(n-1)/2 gets even bigger.

    Tbh all assassins are just that. Assassins, they tailor their weapons and tools to strike their target. If there is many targets, assassins have to adapt a lot and have to make sacrifices. But if its a narrow set of targets. Hone the right knife and leave no witnesses.

    The real Cinderella story was those Swiss rounds. Lol
    This victory should still be celebrated because it showed there were more viable heroes in this specific meta than perceived. I don't think anyone really thinks this signifies a more open meta. Maxx winning a BH did a better job of that. Lol

      That Maxx win was so awesome!

    Definitely he rolled the dice with Uzuri - but not a bad call at all. Awful matchup into Engima and not much better into Prism so luck to avoid those matches as well as Kano. Definitely can't downplay the role of luck in FaB tournaments. In our local scene I always feel comfortable into Zen and Nuu and I would say Uzuri would be the favoured matchup despite Fabrary meta results.

  • @heroicnerd2463

    Uzuri won nice!. Is the leader OP? No, like any tournament, rerun the same tournament qgqin and you’l highyl het a totally diferent winner and top 8. I hope the meta ecomes balanced so almost any hero or deck style can win if made properly and practiced with! But this is an example of the meta problem. If only 2 decks are seen as being top, then another deck can be made to take advantage of that, knowing their bad matchups wont be there. Thats the problem with fab. Usualy a new set dome sout and everyne plays the top 2 heroes from the new set...

    Hard agree. Both about the reality of the meta and also that Zen is the lesser of two evils...

    Any tournament with limited as part of it can't truly be used to determine the meta of constructed. It just means the better all-around players are leaning towards certain heroes.

    I’m more concerned about how I have no Locals for this game within two hours of my house, not the meta

      @@DiceCommando sure does. I emailed the fab company to see if they offer incentives to stores that don’t have local support but I didn’t get an answer.
      Thankfully I can atleast use talishar, but it’s not ideal

    Do you think the addition to arcane damage in the next set will help?

    • @DiceCommando

      We'll see. They'll still need to be able to race Zen, or disrupt him... I dunno.

    This guy dodged more kanos in 1 event than i did in 2 years of fab..

  • @retrofraction
    @retrofraction หลายเดือนก่อน

    People don’t talk about it a ton but there is still RNG at big events as to who you will be matched up with.
    Just because a deck can take the top at one event doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be perfectly well rounded.
    Rather at that time, at that place, with the specific mu it was masterfully played and got a good result.
    I do agree we are in a closed meta, I also agree that all my friends who want to play warriors can’t because Enigma literally gate keeps armories.
    MST is very strong, but I think we should see a supplementary set down the line.
    Cause extended slots can only do so much.

  • @jamesarmstrong7297
    @jamesarmstrong7297 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Running no AB was certainly a brave call! That could have gone horribly wrong very fast!!
    I think the MST heroes are certainly very strong, compounded by the relatively‘underpowered’ heroes in the has set or 2…

    • @DiceCommando
      @DiceCommando  หลายเดือนก่อน

    Preparation and Disziplin is key. But you need to crack a potion of luck for the match ups. Or is it good prediction?

  • @neutro0005
    @neutro0005 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had already heard here among the Brazilian teams, that uzuri was a great match to focus on beating Nuu and therefore she creates a good plan to stop Zen, shred red is not on the list for nothing, this is to react to the sinks of Nuu and enigma, otherwise blue was good as pitch and utility

  • @DMArmada
    @DMArmada หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Idk, the vast majority of players not testing for a hero that was strong enough to win the whole thing sure seems like getting the meta wrong at least a little.

      Jk. I think this is good insight. And I think our new pro-tour champ identified a nearly auto loss and chose to hone their deck to be more effective into it's 50/50 or better matchups which is theoretically a wise thing to do. GEM luck does have it's place in FaB.
