- I have been getting sicker this week, which sucks massively. But I am not going to let that beat me! I wanted to share a different side of my story, that being the view point of my family, especially my mum and dad! So, we have set up their own channel for them to show their perspective on having a son with terminal cancer.

I used to be a very serious kid then adult. Only until I had a near-death experience I changed into a silly person. It is so much easier to act silly and laugh instead of cry. Life is not easy.

To you Dan - I would like to say thank you.... Thank you for your honesty, thank you for sharing your life with us...the highs and the devastating lows and thank you for being an inspiration to me and I'm sure many, many others. I would also like to say something to the people who say awful things to you ..... my message to you is - I'm sorry that you are not happy in your life - I assume this because it is often the case with so called "haters"... I hope that whatever is bad in your life, that makes you unhappy, will get better for you - no one should suffer in silence but also take a minute to really think about what people, like Dan, are going through with this awful and evil disease - none of us know what the future holds and maybe one day you or I may need to be shown compassion and wouldn't you want people to be nice to you, to support you? Just please think about that for a couple of minutes.

Thank you for sharing your life with us. I just found out my brother has stage 4 liver cancer, he went to the doctor for stomache pain thinking it was gall stones, and ultimately was told he has 1 year left to live, i am his sister, i am mortified, scared for him and sad. Your story helps me cope with it all. My brother is only 54 years old.. I hate cancer...I cherish my time with him...He jokes and laughs like you do...Thank you Dan...xoxo

One day an abuser will face a situation in their life, or the life of someone close to them, and remember things they said to people in similar situations years before and it will be too late, too late to say sorry, to late to do anything about it... and that will be their shame.
I am not asking people to 'suck up to' or 'pretend to like' someone who is dying. I am saying that there is no need to be offensive to, or abuse someone, in that situation to try to make their life worse than it already is. I hope you get a bit more compassion than you are prepared to offer others when you are dying.

I too am facing loosing someone in the family to brain cancer.. he bothered to private message me to get me through a lot I could not deal with.. he is not looking for your sympathy nor wanting you to suck up to him.. he posts the vids in hope it helps others who face the same and to show them to be strong and never give up.. Dan has sadly passed away.. he fought to the very end in pain and still he was there for others.. your parents clearly failed you since they forgot to teach you respect manners and compassion for others..Dan is resting in peace now and I bet if you went through it you would be doing nothing but moaning and wanting pity.. at least he fought on for as long as he could and made sure to tell others to never give up fighting... shame on you.. your a disgrace

My pops passed away from cancer about 8 years ago now. I keep coming back to this channel to really understand what he went through as he tried to shield me from his pain.

Dan, I haven’t commented in some time. Your fellow Brit survivor relocated across the pond. I haven’t stopped watching. You and your family are always in me thoughts. The reason I haven’t commented as of late is probably a very rubbish excuse, but with your cancer getting horribly worse, Emily Hayward has now started declining and the passing of Sofia - I’m having survivors guilt. And survivors guilt is a real thing. But please know you have my support and my most positive vibes coming your way, everyday. Hang in there mate. Lots of love.

Dan, this year has been crazy for me as well. My dad tried to commit suicide due to immutable pain and I found him and saved his life. I realized how much life meant and you inspire me to make the most of it. I don’t know what is on the other side, if there’s anything at all, but the 3 greatest and worst words you ever hear are “you’re gonna die” which made me realize I have to live every second of my life how I want. You are so inspirational and I admire to be as positive as you, even in the darkest of times.
I already miss you Daniel. You are a hero and an amazing voice of strength.

Dan, i've been watching for a while now and have never had any words until i was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. I literally fell to the floor and didn't know what to do with myself. Dan, I have grown to care so much for you and your family by watching your journey. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life. I am a three-time cancer survivor, the first at age 16 the 2nd at 28th and the 3rd at age 40 a few months after losing my father. the 3rd is a cancer that is chronic and I will live with until I get sick enough for a stem cell transplant. I am not nearly is graceful at handling my situation, and the low days. I keep praying for some miracle for you because you are a beautiful spirit and such a strong soul. We need you in this world. I hope you know that you are loved and so highly regarded by so many. Those who heap abuse on you are not good people and I hope, to the best of your ability, you allow their sh**ty behavior to roll off your back. I look forward to seeing your beautiful face each time you post and I know I'm not the only one. Please take very good care of yourself and try not to give up. XOXO

People can be rude, like “how dare you take a handicap spot!” Even the med assistants fall in that trap “you’re looking so much better!”....then they do vitals & review med list. It’s better to not be acknowledged some days

Never met this man. I watched his vids in the early days but for inspiration I find myself drawn towards Dan, I was inspired by his energy for life, his humour, his tenacity, Dan is an inspiration to all, his life was special, to his family and those around him. Dan's parents must be so proud, he achieved and gave so much back to others, that's a diamond, a saint! x
I’ve had a high risk encounter with skin cancer. I had an obvious tumor on my left side by my elbow since I was born. It’s changed colors from dark red to skin color to brown. They did biopsies and said it wasn’t much more than a birth mark but my sophomore year it went bad, it became black and it was bleeding and hurting to the touch. I went to the doctor and they immediately set me up with a dermatologist who removed it and any surrounding area that was effected. It grew into a malignant tumor with a blood flow. I was told that it could have spread to other parts of my body and I could have mire skin tumors appear. I did regular body checks weekly for anything new and I had scans done to make sure there wasn’t anything internal that it spread to. I did that for 3 years and with nothing appearing so they told me I should be good but to always keep an eye out. They told me that I have a high risk of having severe melanoma later in life. It’s terrifying what mental state that puts you in, fear and anxiety were a big part of my life for those 3 years. I know he isn’t here to read this but I wanted to share my experience. Rest easy, you’re in our thoughts

Oh Dan, you hit the nail on the head. Cancer shows it painful deterioration as unique to the individual fighting to survive from this disease. I do not need to see you vomiting your guts out to believe you're not well. I think all of us can agree that seeing you in agony would be heartbreaking because we can't help. We can only comfort you in words of encouragement, compassion, and love through messages. I'm with you all the way in this. Bad days, good days. You are loved and we are here for your family also. It's the Internet, and every idiot feels they're entitled to have their say. Don't worry about the naysayers and trolls, they're simply not important. Just as you'll likely walk passed half a dozen morons when walking down the street, you'll also walk by some good people too.
I've been around depression for a long time, and people with depression are the same as yourself in a way. When you talk with someone who is struggling, they'll convince you they're okay, tell you all the right things. It's a natural reflex, no-one wants to make someone else feel bad. In reality, there can be huge struggles going on. It's not a matter of being dishonest, it's just what people do to get through difficult days.

Dan, you have chosen to document the hardest time in your life. You have reached the hearts of many. Your courage and strength has spread to the ends of the earth and back. Not only are you a brilliant creator, but you are the one thing that keeps many facing the same devistation, PEACE.
Dan, there are people out there who expect sickness and/or disability to look a certain way. They also expect people who have illness and/or disability to act a certain way. Those types of people who feel that way have had little exposure to that world and their ignorance shows. And sadly, until something tragic happens in their lives, they will have no clue. I respect your documentation of you journey. I believe in you. I believe you are incredibly strong and brave, even though your foundation has been shaken, you continue on. You truly a modern day warrior fighting something that every human fears. You are a story that needs to be told. Thank you.
