Nice video, guys! You gave us a feet-on-the-ground reality of this challenging trail. Thank you!!

An excellent video. Some of the best scenery footage of this trail I've seen. Thanks so much! I have tentative plans to do this hike next summer.

Loved the video! I noticed you wore hiking sandals. Would you recommend wearing sandals? They seem convenient since there are water crossings and a lot of mud.

Thank you so much! I wore chaco sandals The whole hike but to be honest, if you are not comfortable walking 12 miles in sandals without getting blisters, don’t do it! You do not want blisters on this trail. Stick with well worn boots. There was only really 2 big river crossings on the trail. I only wore sandals partly because I didn’t have my hiking boots 😅

I am so glad I found your video! We are doing this hike in just over a month, and I have been pretty anxious, working it up in my mind. I do a lot of hiking where I live in CO, but this trail will be a different story!
I appreciate that you shot this with your phone and weren't holding it 5 feet above your head - haha some of these other videos, the perspective is so skewed that I really appreciated how you shot it, your honesty about the trail, and just all the info and intel I feel I gathered. I think I am most worried about the parts before and after crawlers ledge - that sandy rock looks loose and sketchy.
    Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for watching!!!
I try to keep my videos honest and real 😂 And definitely, the loose sand is way more dangerous than the crawlers ledge. Make you have some trekking poles and know how to use them in those areas for balance/support!

Haha it's funny doing it and then re-living it again watching on TH-cam. We did 3 days total: 11 miles, 1 day recover at beach, and 11 back out.

    What a great video! Mahalo
Did you guys do some preparation walking for this hike? I’m about to do this Hike in August

No preparation! I would just recommend wearing the right shoes and taking 3 days instead of 2 days to complete the hike.

Welcome to hiking in Hawaii! I haven't done this trail in it's entirety, so terrified of crawler's ledge. but the rocks and ups and downs and slippery/muddy or loose ground are very typical for Hawaii trails. So so so lucky it didn't rain for you guys!! Glad you enjoyed :)
Did you happen to go to Moloa'a Sunrise? Best smoothies I've ever had.
