Ha. When I was in college me and a friend didn't have anything going on one afternoon. Our afternoon classes must have been canceled. So, we just went for a bike ride with nowhere in mind. eventually we got out in the country side and thought we'll just ride out to the lake and back to campus. We never did find the lake on this backroads, but did eventually find a road we knew and took that back to town. This was 2000 and we were both on Walmart Mongoose mountain bikes, so not ideal road bikes. My butt was pretty well kicked. The next day I drove my truck on the same route and came up with nearly 22 miles. The part in this video that made me laugh was you saying your butt was sore. My taint was sore for the rest of the week! 😆😅 -Speed Racer

PRO TIP: Never EVER take Ibuprofen doing a ride. It can cause long-term kidney damage. Take your painkillers after the ride.

Yes, saddle & bike fit a just a little important when going on a long ride! Otherwise, it's a TortureFest!

I am so glad I found your video! We are doing this hike in just over a month, and I have been pretty anxious, working it up in my mind. I do a lot of hiking where I live in CO, but this trail will be a different story! I appreciate that you shot this with your phone and weren't holding it 5 feet above your head - haha some of these other videos, the perspective is so skewed that I really appreciated how you shot it, your honesty about the trail, and just all the info and intel I feel I gathered. I think I am most worried about the parts before and after crawlers ledge - that sandy rock looks loose and sketchy. Thank you for sharing!

Welcome to hiking in Hawaii! I haven't done this trail in it's entirety, so terrified of crawler's ledge. but the rocks and ups and downs and slippery/muddy or loose ground are very typical for Hawaii trails. So so so lucky it didn't rain for you guys!! Glad you enjoyed :) Did you happen to go to Moloa'a Sunrise? Best smoothies I've ever had.

You know (at least in cruise world) pineapples, especially upside down pineapples mean that you are swingers and ready to mingle. So be careful wearing the pineapple shirts…LOL.

I stayed at Zeeland Falls Hut and got stung by one of those yellow jackets while walking up the steps right when I got there. Several expletives flew out my mouth. That night was pretty clear and Asher the main dude there got out their telescope and we could see Jupiter and a couple of its moons with it. That was pretty cool.

haha! I was at Goddard Shelter waiting out the rain too! I got there just after 12 when it started raining a little. That is me in the white blue and orange bag by the entrance. I stayed at Congdon Shelter the night before and Stratton Pond Shelter the night after. -Speed Racer

Hey Airbud it's Speed Racer. I've been watching a handful of videos here and there since I realized to had a channel back around Christmas. I too send a bunch of postcards along the trail. Those camp stores were handy for that snice they sold them and had a mailbox to drop them in. I had a roll of post card stamps in a film canister for the whole trip.
