Thank you, great tutorial that covers more than just basics. Like the 'receives decal' checkbox, super helpful for decaling walls while leaving the window frame(s) out of it
I'm trying to use trash decals for my scene, but those objs turn out flat! Even the crumpled bottle decal in the rendering comes out completely flat(((
Quick question, can you mask out the part of the decal on say a house (square). I only want the debris on the front of the house, not the sides. I understand you can uncheck "receives decal" on a specific mesh but not sides. Does that make sense what I'm asking? haha.
Great video! In certain areas of my level I need a decal that is completely flat and doesn't show the normal map of the surface it's being applied on top of. I'm currently placing decals in those areas on squares as a work around, but I prefer not to do that since that's just adding to the tris count. What settings/setup should I create to achieve a completely flat decal effect? Thank you :)
If you hit g on your keyboard then it shouldnt show up. The flag I think you are talking about is the debug pin for the decal so you can click on it if having issues
It can simply work on cloth if you do this method but if you are wanting it to be "baked" into the material and also interact with wind. I would instead recommend putting the texture or design into the material or texture itself instead of having it as a separate decal. Let me know if you had a specific use case you were thinking!
I was trying to wait for maybe another version before getting more acquainted with the substrate system. It is potentially similar but probably comes down to the material type and making sure there's still a decal option for that.
Weak tutorial. Doesn't cover anything about unreal engines 5 new decal settings that they used to have in 4 but removed for 5 in favor of making them into pins... for example does it do normal only... that type of stuff.

Try scaling the thickness of the decal so that its only as thick as you need it to be to cover the front wall
cool decals tutorial
Very helpful, thanks!
Хороший урок! Автору спасибо большое!

Nice, but how do we get decal blend modes back? I can't find out how to layer my decal with normals on top of a another texture with normals.
Thanks!
Thanks man 👍🙏
Thanx for the tut,
How do you get rid of the flag/pin thing?

Thanks a lot! Could you do one on Mesh Decals for UE5 too?
Yes, I could cover mesh decals
Thank you, easy to follow tutorial.
hi. how about a decal onto a cloth ?
or bake into a material?
or react to wind :)

Help me a lot! thx
I am using Unreal Engine 5.4 Substrate Materials. How can I create the decals under that sistem? Thanks
