Superb singing by this soprano. Purity of tone, amazing breath control, complete command of coloratura passages. This woman's skills should make for international renown. I presume the elaborate introductions to the beginning of the aria and to the returns of the "A" section, as well as the harpsichords showy cadenza, are interpolations by René Jacobs. I cannot believe that Handel would have broken up the structure of this aria with self-regarding interruptions.
@@dion1949 I'm aware that in the ABA structure of arias in Handel's time and later the repeat of the A was decorated. However in this particular recording the quality of the decoration was miserable, and extended also to the opening of the piece. René Jacobs is renowned for his additions to composers' scores - e.g. Mozart's operas, hence my presumption.

Actually these "imterruptions" are de rigeur in da capo arias.
