    If I had a pair of exhaust hoses, I would also park my car the wrong way on purpose, just so I can get to use my hoses... ;)

    Perfect timing I'm about to change my oil for the first time and couldn't have asked for a better how to video! Thanks for posting. Dig all the skate decks hanging up on the wall! I know Porsche says oil doesn't need changed till 10000 miles but I'm gonna do it every 5k. Any thoughts on that?

    • @TommyLGarage
      @TommyLGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got it!
      I think 10k is too much. I do mine every 4-5k max. Doesn’t seem too expensive

    I have experienced enough of this splashing that I've since switched to a deeper oil catch solution - not perfect but better and protects the floor/cameras and hands a little better. That oil filter location always mystifies me - no real hope of keeping from a frame clean up after that!

    The drain plug is meant to be replaced during the oil change as well. They are a few dollars. I found out the hard way. Mine cracked and slowly leaked. Excuse to buy an aftermarket magnetic one.

    Another great video! I would like to do a change on mine but I doubt I will. In England, I don't think this would save you money because not having full service history (especially Porsche service history) would cause the car to lose more money when you came to sell it than you could ever hope to save by doing your own changes.

    did my oil change two weeks ago, and my car actually took 9 quarts before the oil measurement on the display was correct.

      @@TommyLGarage lol. I know it took me two days to get to the right level. started with 8 quarts and slowly added more.. until it finally showed the correct level. what a pain without a real dip stick. been driving for two weeks and level is still showing correctly.

    • @Baerchenization
      @Baerchenization 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently there is this weird thing that it will only take a new measurement after you open/close the rear trunk because it interprets that as a possible access to the oil top-up, also be sure it is level when taking measurements and don't drive it hard before measuring. Reason being oil may foam up slightly and since it is an ultrasound measurement it will not measure correctly if the oil foamed up... if you over-filled don't ignore it, you have to remove it.

    I’ve just had an oil change on my cayman and a few days after the check oil light keeps coming on, when I do the electronic check it’s says it’s full still
    Any one had this problem, any ideas?

    • @TommyLGarage
      @TommyLGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it the service light? If so then get the scanner I recommend and you can reset it

    • @andytorro9
      @andytorro9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TommyLGarage no it’s the check oil light but when I check it’s full and when I turn the engine off then back on sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesn’t

    Where you reading the oil temperature at 185?

    • @Baerchenization
      @Baerchenization 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can choose the items to be displayed in the multi function LCD display of dash instruments. Looking at the available options, the most sensible selection is oil temp, coolant temp, battery voltage, oil pressure (dunno the other ones) and it still has a few more things in the screen by default above/below, like time, fuel level/remaining miles. That is your customisable screen, you can still switch that with half a dozen other screens via the stalk, like satnav map, tyre pressure, G force etc etc

    • @TommyLGarage
      @TommyLGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Baerchenization. Spot on

    • @DWraysGarage
      @DWraysGarage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TommyLGarage I think the OP is referring to the fact that you inadvertently quoted the coolant/water temp whereas the oil temp was reading ~106.
