For cleaning hoses for water and fittings is a 5 gal. bucket with a gallon of cheap white vinegar and water to cover, let it soak for a couple of hours adding a little dish soap wont hurt. Rinse thoroughly.
Jared thanks! We just started RVing with a 5th wheel (25 years tenting). I use your videos as a guide to what I need. We’ve used your Amazon store to help know which gear works and thus far, 3 trips in, we are firm Jared believers!! Happy Father’s Day and thanks for taking time to help others with what you’ve found to work!
Rhino elbow with a back flush is nice to have. If your like me with a spare tire on the bumper. Make sure you have the right socket to remove it from the spare tire holder.
I have lived FT in an RV (and now a box truck I'm converting) for about 5 years now and after traveling to Baja, and many southern states with extremely hard water, I'm a firm believer in a portable water softener. I use the dual filter Clear2O in front of the water softener (On the Go), which does a really good job of giving me a good base water for my tank. And then I use a Berkey for drinking water for me and my two elder cats. Thanks for another great video!
Quick disconnects for all hoses. Before I got them I had all kinds of trouble with leaky connections, missing o-rings and slicing my hands on sharp threads.
Hi Jared, Happy Father's Day. I traveled in my 25ft class c Full Time for many years. When I watch your Channel lots of time it was either labor intensive or over my head. I understood alot of today's essentials. Great Sewage set up. And everything was pretty doable. Thank you for making things simpler for older female Nomads. A wonderful resource.
I also added a backflow preventer to the 2nd outlet bc I use that to flush my grey tank often and don't want any water coming from the non drinking hose to my drinking hose.
Jared, thank you for another informative video. In my don't leave home without it tools, I also carry various tie wraps, gorilla tape and electrical tape. I have since added things to make DC power repairs, such as a length of wire and some crimp connectors.
I like having the metal triangle shaped thing from tractor suppmy for changing flat tires or blowouts. Its easier than having to jack up a camper if you have dual or triple axles.
Great info and I have most everything that you have too 😁. One recommendation I saw in another video with the tire changing equipment is an orange safety vest if case you have to change a tire on the roadside. Unfortunately for me I got to use my vest the day after I bought it😂
I love your videos. They are well done, with clear explanations and reasons why you chose the items you did. Thanks for the list of links to all the items you mentioned.
I've more or less got all the same accessories Jared showed here and can also attest to them being great. 10 months of full timing and I haven't had any of them fail me yet.
Jared , great content as always! Rhinoflex makes a part that has a flex end to go into the sewer pipe with the better "donut" seal. Hard to find....worth it! Also we found some heavy duty rubber gloves at a park once....$10 and still using them. (Yes we wash after every use) And quick connects on water hoses.....some say that's a want.....it's essential 😂
One item is the tandem wheel tire changing ramp. We just came back from a 2 week vacation and had 2 flats (caused by road damage, thanks AZ I-40). With the ramp and impact wrench, it only took 10 minutes to change a tire. Also, you should have a tire pressure sensor on your spare tire too.
I keep a few 1/2” sharkbite caps on hand. Since most manufacturers don’t isolate our plumbing systems (toilets, faucets, etc) with individual shut off valves like in a house - one leaky toilet can place the entire RV out of service by requiring the water to be shut off to entire unit for example. So you can cut & cap the pex lines feeding whatever broke on you to save a trip and simply isolate the one problematic issue & keep water to remainder of unit that way. I skipped installing inline shut offs everywhere as a huge cost savings and I also didn’t want to needlessly introduce 20 new possible points of future leakage by installing them everywhere. Carrying $6 in pex caps does the trick.
One of the uncommon tools that I carry is a set of hacksaw blades. Not the hacksaw itself, just the blades. I can cut almost anything on the RV (water pipes, thick cables, bolts) with just the blade. And a set of gloves, of course.
I'd also recommend Hughes' Autoformer if you find yourselves stopping at campgrounds with low voltage issues. I finally picked one up when a campground I was staying at had voltage so low I was risking my EMS tripping. The extra 10% boost made the difference between my AC being able to run fine and my neighbor's, who's rig connected to the same pedestal, shutting off whenever the campground voltage sagged to low. You can hear and feel the difference when it kicks on and boosts the voltage, the AC speeds up noticeably. At over $400 it's definitely not cheap, but if you find yourself going places with bad voltage its certainly a lot cheaper then burning out an AC and having to replace that.
Thanks for all you do. Both myself and my wife watch your channel. Something for you is that I made 7 sets of 2x4 stabilizers and must say it's amazing how well they work. We are still in early stages and maybe we can use less but for now trailer aint rocking. Might be able to shorten them as time goes by. We are using up everything that was included in the trailer purchase and working on switching to your suggestions. Stairs are next spring and looking to watch your video again just to help make up our minds. For now thanks for all you do for us new RV people and we are open to all input.
Great info, thanks. As another safety item, I recently purchased a propane leak detector because I am constantly smelling propane when I open the tank compartment. I never did find any leaks and chalked it up to residue from when they are filled.
Attach the ends of your drinking hose together when removing. Helps keep it clean, also fresh filter attached before the hose to your source. Larger better filter going into camper.
We have been travelling full time for almost two years, and your videos prepared us very well for our initial and ongoing needs. Thank you for the excellent information.
I prefer the rhino 45* sewage adapter with the hose hook up so I can rinse out my sewage hose in a pinch. I like the idea about the whole house filter instead of the throw away blue ones. The sewage hose you had seemed to be the one that has the end piece permanently attached which makes it difficult to store (but I bet it’s 15’ long instead of 10’). I keep my sewage hoses in my bumper so have the separate ground attachment.
Great video. Thanks! I got a recommendation for all the dry site campers out there: The camco 40003 tank filler with shut off makes it easy to fill up your water tank and control the flow right at the fill port. So you don't spill water and make a mess. Plus it's cheap and fits anywhere. Happy camping!
GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU!!!! Suggestion: I recommend GLOWING fuses. If the fuse goes out IT GLOWS.... saved us on our little POP UP on trail rides. Just subscribed. Going for your tools video. THANKS AGAIN FROM TEXAS!!!!!
Jared, i’d like to make a suggestion to your followers if they they are using a TPMS like the Tire Minder system to change out the rubber valve stems to metal valve stems , i know from experience that the added weight from the TPMS sensor will damage the rubber ones and you’ll end up with a flat.
I’m new to RV thank you for this great learning tool. I just wish there was a way to download the list so I can print it out. I will jut have to watch and write. Thank you again for the great suggestions.
Hey Jared, i made a thick wire lock for my surge protector. You need big bolt cutters to get through it to steal it. I only have an 18’ travel trailer so don’t really have room for one attached to the trailer. Used the same locking for our paddle board to lock to the trailer or a tree. Thanks for the tips!
@@slygonzales6610 if you type in cable locks on google it will show you. I have a 7/8” cable and 3’ of it. TH-cam can show you how to make it. My surge protector cable is 3’ and paddle board is 5’ so i can put the cable threw the trailer wheel then lock it up. Good luck!!
I use a chain with a couple of same keyed large loop master locks. Put the electrical cords of the protector through the lock loops, causing the thief to have to cut the cords or the locks. Not worth their trouble and they move on to the next poor schmoe.
I just tested an assessory that I made today. I've got a 2006 Lance 1181. The kitchette slide will slide out a little each time I make a right hand turn that results in any G force at all. It will slide in on left hand turns but the end result is always the slide is out anywhere from 3 inches on regular city driving to nearly a foot before I can find a place to pull over on mountain roads. Forget it if a widow is left open. Air pressure will push it all the way out if you don't stop and run it in and close the window. It's mostly just very annoying. For a year or better I've had an idea rattling around in my head for what is vitually a wooden i joist to put under the slide inside the camper that will keep it from sliding out. I screwed a 2x10 to a 2x4 both about 20 inches long (they need to be just a little longer to fit more snugly under there). I made 2 of them and put 1 at each end of the slide inside the camper. Then I drove about 700 miles. It worked great! It needs to be just about a half inch longer to fit tighter and I need to mill 2x4s for the top to fill the gap on top. They're about a half inch too thick to use as is. These will fix the problem. If I could get some i joist scrap a 2x12 i joist would work perfectly. It's actual dimension is 11.875 to fit snugly in the 11.5+ space under the kitchenette floor.
Great info! I want3d say that my water pressure regulator is similar if not the same one. It says not to use a Y before it. Not sure but maybe it needs a consistent pressure prior to it. With a Y, it would fluctuate whenever using the other side.
Emergency Puck Safety flashers! They have a magnet or hook to put on the RV.. If there is any reason you must stop, when getting dark, you need to be seen to be safe from others potentially running into you or your RV. Also , reflective vests you can wear.
Jared, great channel. You are someone we trust. We are going to change to the water filters, you suggest, but we are weekend warriors. Do we empty them out and let them air dry or just take the water out of them when we’re not using them?
Hello, thanks for the accessories video, Where did you source the male and female adapters for garden hose to fit the AO Smith One stage water filter, ingress/ egress?
Jared, I purchased 2 Zero G 5/8” hoses. With the inlets on the Whole House filter, did you put an adapter between the filter inlets and the hose or does the 5/8” screw in properly?
Thanks Jared. Do you have any suggestions for a good propane hose to hook up 30lb propane tanks on fifth wheel? Seems like mine don’t even last a season. They always leak.
There is water going in thru one of the doors and ive sealed it and still water… wonder how water gets in… what product would be best to use for sealant? Under the door trim
My question is can you use both "Happy Camper", and "Unique" Digest, at the same time? Happy camper is a deodorant, and Unique is mean to dissolve the solids. I'd prefer to have the benefits of both if I can.
I would sanitize it the same time I do my tanks. Once you have the fresh tank full of the solution you could put a spray nozzle on the hose and use the spray port to get the same solution in the hose and let it sit over night. Here is a video of sanitizing the tanks. th-cam.com/video/qpgNIHFfxQ8/w-d-xo.html It would be easier to do it at the same time so you’re not making a small solution for the hose.
This was great! I have the blocks that come with the chock that kind of “legos” into them. (Does that make sense?!) Would I still need an x chock in that case?
We have one of those adjustable water regulators and I have mine set to 60 PSI and win we turn on the water in are RV and it drops to 40 to 38 PSI I don’t know if that’s normal or not.
Yes same here. I used to drink out of the hose as well.

These are all great tips. I do have to say in all my years of camping or just general living....ive never needed a surge protector. Ever. Ever ever. Never happened. Is the $20 worth it for something that has never ever happened to me? Maybe. I own one. Just havent seen it play out yet. Not convinced it isnt snake oil yet.
I hope this helps, here is a drop of all the links to what was in the video.

I like to keep various sizes of zip ties. Very handy.
Happy Father’s Day!
I think the clear RV Sewer Cap are great addition as well and would definitely avoid any surprises!
Rhino elbow with a back flush is nice to have. If your like me with a spare tire on the bumper. Make sure you have the right socket to remove it from the spare tire holder.
Jared, very helpful video as always. I thought to mention carrying a grease gun for wheel bearings and caulking gun for applying sealants.
These are legit as hell. Well done!
Much much better not repeating yourself excessively! I think I’ll start watch more again. Good video!
Im 63 and drank from a good old fashioned garden hose as a kid . I'm still live lol .
You’ve delivered again. Thank you for explaining everything so easily.
One thing that is very important for me to have in my Rv is a rechargeable stick vac like the Dyson stick vac especially since I have a dog
Happy Father's day. Great information as always. Thank you for what you do.
I’m surprised that he didn’t include those in the water section…gamechangers!!!
👍😃🍻
Hi Jared, Happy Father's Day. I traveled in my 25ft class c Full Time for many years. When I watch your Channel lots of time it was either labor intensive or over my head. I understood alot of today's essentials. Great Sewage set up. And everything was pretty doable. Thank you for making things simpler for older female Nomads. A wonderful resource.
Jared you always give such great information. Happy Father’s Day.
Thank you!
great video! should repost this around the holiday season. A lot of great Christmas gifts!
I also added a backflow preventer to the 2nd outlet bc I use that to flush my grey tank often and don't want any water coming from the non drinking hose to my drinking hose.
Happy Father’s Day! Thanks for the info
What a great video! Going from a Class C to a 5th wheel this week! Thanks for posting!
Jared, thank you for another informative video. In my don't leave home without it tools, I also carry various tie wraps, gorilla tape and electrical tape. I have since added things to make DC power repairs, such as a length of wire and some crimp connectors.
Very new to all of this - very helpful - thank you.
I like having the metal triangle shaped thing from tractor suppmy for changing flat tires or blowouts. Its easier than having to jack up a camper if you have dual or triple axles.
This was incredibly useful, thanks!
Great info and I have most everything that you have too 😁. One recommendation I saw in another video with the tire changing equipment is an orange safety vest if case you have to change a tire on the roadside. Unfortunately for me I got to use my vest the day after I bought it😂

A plastic cone that goes underneath the tongue jack. Also a nylon coiled cable for the breakaway switch.
You are great thank you your really helping me ❤
Great video. I would add Gas Stop and Dump Buddy.
Thank you for all your tips ...we just ordered our 5th wheel..first timers
For me it’s two spare tires, zip ties, Gorilla tape, battery operated leaf blower along with the stuff you mentioned.😁
Great Ideas,Jared
Thanks
Oh man.. I can't WAIT for the day I see 60 PSI. Never seen over 40
Thanks for the content!
Good job jered I have all of but I need a tire monitor so thanks for the reminder
Thanks again Jared for another informative video!
Thanks Jared, I have been thinking of a replacement for the horrible camco support. Thanks for showing the stink slink
This definitely helps thank you :)

I let them air dry between outings.
How about a macerator and a 100' 5/8" hose for when you are mooching at a friends house?
Hello, thanks for the accessories video, Where did you source the male and female adapters for garden hose to fit the AO Smith One stage water filter, ingress/ egress?
Hey Jared, thanks for another great video. I don't think I saw the link, but what was the water drinking spout that you put on your sink?
what do you use for the storage for your black water hose? Is that aftermarket or did you make it? How did you mount it? I love that idea!!
For large RVS and pick up trucks What would you recommend for the air compressor?
What do you recommend to do to clean the inside of the water hose?
What length drinking water hose do you have to go from your filter to the rv?
❤👍
Jared, I purchased 2 Zero G 5/8” hoses. With the inlets on the Whole House filter, did you put an adapter between the filter inlets and the hose or does the 5/8” screw in properly?
Gloves on hand lol :)
I never heard of cleaning the inside of a hose. How do you do that??
Thanks Jared. Do you have any suggestions for a good propane hose to hook up 30lb propane tanks on fifth wheel? Seems like mine don’t even last a season. They always leak.
Do you have any plans for off the grid camping and solar panels for AC and TV for the GD ?

I never realized you need to clean your fresh water hoses... also, I know you have a reverse osmosis tap ... but no mention of a Berkey?
My question is can you use both "Happy Camper", and "Unique" Digest, at the same time? Happy camper is a deodorant, and Unique is mean to dissolve the solids. I'd prefer to have the benefits of both if I can.
can you add a link to the sewer donut replacement?

This was great! I have the blocks that come with the chock that kind of “legos” into them. (Does that make sense?!) Would I still need an x chock in that case?
Yes that is when I would use the X-Chock. If I can’t have a regular chock against the ground and tire I would use the X-Chock
We have one of those adjustable water regulators and I have mine set to 60 PSI and win we turn on the water in are RV and it drops to 40 to 38 PSI I don’t know if that’s normal or not.

The problem with a Y connector at the faucet is that there is no backflow protection from the other hose.
You can add one to it
How Do U protect The Surge protector while it’s out side.Against Theift
Some of them come with a metal ring you can use a cable lock to lock it to the pedestal but we have never locked ours up.
Your link to the donut adapter doesn’t work. FYI.
How do you clean it? We grew up drinking well water out of garden hoses, and were healthy as they come.
Yes same here. I used to drink out of the hose as well. I would sanitize it the same time I do my tanks. Once you have the fresh tank full of the solution you could put a spray nozzle on the hose and use the spray port to get the same solution in the hose and let it sit over night. Here is a video of sanitizing the tanks. th-cam.com/video/qpgNIHFfxQ8/w-d-xo.html
