If he’s super lucky he won’t have to..more than likely he will have to change it…my tensioner broke a tooth and my chain kept popping I had to change the entire timing component system…I’m actually kinda happy I did it though…the lesson I learned from doing it myself was way more valuable than the price I would have paid to have it fixed by a actual shop/mechanic
