Hooooray~!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 ..and as your #1 subscriber, your welcome. I can only imagine what the Shedster might have to say about all this...? Might be a good idea to have him on again & see what he thinks...we are going through some serious Shedler withdraws over here~!! The struggle is real. But congrats
This was a fun listen! Especially from where I'm at in my education journey I really enjoy hearing professionals talk about what inspires them and what led them into their field. It's somewhat comforting to know that I don't have to have everything mapped out just yet, and to remember that inspiration can come at any time and can lead you in a totally different direction than you expected to go. It's also really encouraging to see that healthcare professionals can be deeply connected to, and motivated by, their work even if they go into a different field than they initially expected to. Hearing more background about how Dr. Tarr, Dr. Cummings, and others, have inspired you was really insightful. Your perspective on their impact on your career/education has helped to illustrate how important meaningful supervision and mentorship can be. I really feel like I've learned something important from each of your guests, even your occasional conversations / panel discussions / deep-dive specials with med students. As you two touched on here, your episodes with Dr. Cummings really are something special. He has such a gift for being able to talk about what's happening on molecular, cellular and systemic levels of the brain, and how brain physiology, genetics and chemistry can impact behavior, cognition, etc. For being such a knowledgeable scientist, he also has such an obvious sense of humanity and empathy for people. I'm grateful that you have brought him, and so many other inspiring experts on to the show to share their wealth of experience, perspective and knowledge. This podcast has been a constant companion over the past couple of years, and is such a great resource to turn to as a student. Thanks for all you, your guests and crew have put into it! Congratulations on 200 episodes, and cheers to a good new year ahead! - Matt
