It's funny to me how, if you want to stay good friends with these characters, you pick the forgiving option and pretend as if it never happened. I mean, I know demons prey on people's minds and manipulate them to do their bidding but even understanding this, I couldn't see myself almost dying due to betrayal by the person I love most and later just being like "It's okay, it wasn't you." It's only human to be pissed, and my Hawke (who romanced Isabela) rightfully blew up at her for this. They were still endgame, I just wanted to play a more realistic character with... you know, emotions instead of a constant witty retort machine.
that's the thing, Bioware is basically wanting you to get your friends to rivalry status as that is usually what's best for them. Or at least, that's how I interpret the mechanic.

Isabella makes my blood boil. «I already said I'm sorry what do you want from me» is NOT a thing that any human being would like to hear after you quite literally stabbed him in the back for a boat THAT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST Anders being mad is absolutely fair, only an idiot would agree to a demon's deal. Fenris is an asshole as always, at least he is consistent, but even then he admits his failure, that it was his fault to agree with a demon. Aveline cannot admit that it was her fault, even though deep down she understands that she screwed up, but just can't admit it, trying to put a blame on somebody else, something faceless. Isabella doesn't even care. «Yeah I stabbed you lol sorry that boat was nice». Merril was about to fall to her knees before Hawk begging for forgiveness, and Isabella just doesn't care. I'll trade her to Qunari in my current playthrough for sure
She has a hidden heart of gold. Plus she’s hilarious. And she’s a positive influence on all the other party members. She’s selfish sometimes but part of her character arc is moving past that.

Well, they are not mages and can hardly resist demons. It's not just an offer they took, it's an emotion they failed to resist. Though i was disappointed by Merrill.
If these betrayals weren't due to demons, who have been shown to be very capable of exerting power over people's minds before, I'd agree. But demons having sway over minds like that has been a lore deet since DAO, like the Templar trapped in an illusion by the Desire Demon. It literally isn't their fault that the mind control demons, in fact, mind controlled them.

That's only the rival path. On the friendship path he is only apologetic and doesn't do that.

It’s complicated. When demons try to seduce you they exploit your weaknesses. It’s somewhere between grooming and mind control.

Isabela, Fenris and Aveline can shove their apologies, they don't even try. They justify their BS and deflect blame on Hawke and/or mages in general.
With fenris, that's the rival path, the friendship path has him be actually genuinely apologetic. Not sure why this video only has the rival path

Agreed. I always give her to the Qunari, her apology is incredibly hollow and not genuine
