Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I'm a solo empty nester. Full time RV Nomad in a 45ft triple axle toy hauler. I must commend you for doing all you do. Make new memories. Kids will talk about adventures for years to come. I lived in Colorado for 25 years. I held ski season passes to winter park and copper mountain. I lived in Breckenridge, Longmont and Loveland .. near ft Collins. 😊 Beautiful scenery.
This video was interesting, but I didn't see where you really talk about what your title is.. "Are Campgrounds Still OVERBOOKED and OVERPRICED", but a lot about your plans and park info and what they offer.
Hi Jason and Abby, I’m excited you’re coming to Grand Teton and Yellowstone! I was a ranger at Yellowstone last year and now work at Grand Teton. As a former full-timer, my suggestion is you MUST check out the shadow mountain dispersed camping area. I took my 36’ 5th wheel up there and while it was a littler sketchy, the views are simply unbeatable and it’s free! 😊
I had to jump back in after Abby's fresh tank. Wicked was amazing! Robert and I loved it! Great story, great songs, and the cinematograpghy were all great! The twist at the end was definitely emotional and so fitting for our times. Can't wait for Part 2!
We are also having struggles with how campgrounds open up their reservations. As for Wicked...the changes we can see in the previews to the story and the music arrangements (as well as Arianna Grande who is a "NO" for me) make it really hard for me to opt into the film version of a musical I adore the stage production SO very much! Glad to hear you loved it!
Ariana Grande is absolutely perfect in this roll, and she sings it as well, if not better than Kristen Chenowith (gasp, I know), so please don't let that keep you from going. Jason LOVES Wicked and the movie was A++ for him. Good luck with your campground reservations. It's a headache, but always worth it, right? Happy Thanksgiving! -Abby
@@RVMilesPodcast Thanks Abby! Might have to give it a ring. The money was certainly provided for a lavish production (as it should be!) so...I'll just have to get over HER. LOL! I've spent my morning trying to figure out camping near Lake Tahoe and it's driving me nuts to the point that I'm considering a totally different route! LOL!
Totally agree about staying a few nights in multiple YELL locations. Helps to really figure out where you want to hike or what you want to see. Bears should be active in May! They were barely waking up when we were there in early April for biking in the park before the roads were open ♥️ we may see you.
We stayed at mammoth hot springs campground. We drove around the park every day. Fishing bridge, has built a new area, on top of the hill. They all are Full Hookups, And all are pull thru, with open skies for starlink. And if you do camp at one of the primitive sites, while in an RV. Fishing bridge also has two dump stations, available.
Thanks for sharing your plans and the cool places you will be traveling to. Have fun skiing in Colorado. There can be a substantial amount of snow that time of year.
Colorado is awesome ♥️ You may already know this. Iron Mountain is sweet for small pools. The main/historical hot springs just had a major redesign, looking forward to checking it out again as it looks to have smaller, hotter pools now. Be aware that mud season is a real thing in the spring. For boondocking it could be an issue. But You might need spikes (for ice) for Hanging Lake. And you’ll need a reservation. There may be a shuttle.
We really enjoyed Big Pine a few years ago and we are not full hook-up/KOA/private campground people. It was a great location for the area, reasonably priced. Got some rest and laundry done after boondocking on the Wall in the badlands and visiting the Black Hills and Custer!..
Jason - in case you haven’t priced it yet you might have some sticker shock on Breckenridge lift ticket prices. The resorts of Keystone and Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) are short drives away. Keystone is on par price wise with Breckenridge. A-Basin is the cheapest option about half the price of the other two and is only a 30 minute drive from Tiger Run. The mid mountain lodge at A-Basin has pretty decent food. We go up to that area for a week each year with my brother in law from Texas. He prefers A-Basin followed by Keystone.
Your trip sounds great! We'll be in the Southwest from early Jan.- mid-March. However, we havn't figured out a later spring trip yet. Colorado/Utah sounds good. Heck, maybe we just need to stay out there till summer. Lol We have Hawaii, including three nights in the Volcano House Lodge and American Samoa booked for September. We've been home since Homecoming, so it's time to get moving. Gros Ventre, by the way, is great. You'll likly have moose come through the campground. In Yellowstone,we loved Canyon Campground because it was pretty central.
I hope you can extend your stay at Gros Ventre, it’s such a great central location there in the Jackson valley with easy access to the park and town. Inside the park, a lesser known stop is the Rockefeller Preserve and Phelps Lake. We were there on the 4th of July 2022, and there were very few people. The hike is good, but the sensory experiences incorporated into the Preserve HQ building and surroundings make the stop worth while. It’s on the Moose-Wilson road. Hope you have a great trip!
Ft. Wilderness Disney World in January 2025 is less expensive than the Key West/ Sugarloaf Key KOA ( by mucho$$$) I never thought I would say this. Guess where are going during our Florida trip? I’ve been to all your summer trip spots. I agree you need to stay in North Yellowstone, Middle Yellowstone, and south Yellowstone. It’s so big. Bigger than Rhode Island. Driving times in the park are just a killer. Also, if you ever go to Glacier. Split your stays between West Glacier and East Glacier.
Fishing Bridge starts booking a year out. I will be at Yellowstone (Canyon Village) from May 1 until Oct 13. It is good to hear that Mammoth is going to be open. It has been closed since the flood in 2022. Check out the road getting into Mammoth area from Gardner MT. There is a length limit due to the road that is very narrow lots of sharp curves and no shoulder. This road was constructed after the flood as a temporary road. The old road was washed out in the canyon near Gardner. Starlink is still your best option in Yellowstone, and it will work at Fishing Bridge and Mammoth.
Thanks! Def a good reminder about the post flood issues that are still in effect around the Mammoth area. Have a wonderful season at Yellowstone! We can’t wait to be there in May. -
YT Channel “Dirt in my Shoes” has a spreadsheet on her website with all the National Park campground opening dates and reservation information. Excellent resource for information on booking NP campsites. She’s a former NP Ranger.
Pretty sure Tom “Iceman” Kazansky is Val Kilmer’s most famous movie character. His Doc Holliday was good too, but it has to compete against all the great westerns
I’m hoping to join y’all in Coalville. Unfortunately, I’ll need to spend some of the time there working remotely. Do you have a feel yet for Starlink access at the park? Great show! Thanks!
Should be decent, they do have trees. Their wifi is supposed to be decent too. Hope to have you there! Here's the location: www.roamamerica.com/echo-island/#location
No tree lighting should be allowed before Thanksgiving. It’s just too early. The ONLY movie worth watching about Wyatt Earp is “Tombstone”. The other one may as well not exist. IMHO 😁
We’ll have to agree to disagree on the tree. When Thanksgiving is less than a month out, I’m not waiting! Lol. Is Kevin Costner in the Tombstone movie? Asking for a friend. 😉 -A
I've book from NC to Quartzsite and Up California, over to Zion and Back through Texas. OK, GA, and back to NC with out any problem! hmmm this video is out over 7 hours and only 4 comments??
That’s really great that everything worked for you and we hope you have/had a great trip. We are happy to connect with people here on this topic or with those who listen on any podcast app and connect with us in other ways. We know you might be trying in a not-so-subtle way to call out our episode, but we don’t play games like that and that’s why we just posted episode 342. Peace to you. We hope you find the content with lots of comments you are looking for. -A
@@RVMilesPodcast Ah... no critic of your episode. I did my reservations in the off season. Definitely better chance. And the comment about comments was just an observation. You usually have 100's by the time I get there.

If you can’t get in Colter Bay, try Headwaters Campgtound at Flagg Ranch, just north of Colter Bay.

Nomads view in Wall SD boondocking is the best boondocking in the US
It’s amazing. We’ve been there a few times and it’s just unbelievable how gorgeous the views are…the wind on the other hand. Lol.
@ it was my wife’s first boondocking experience and that my have been a mistake on my part, she thought they all should be like that lol

Hwy 80 is no fun in the winter for sure
I bet. Thankfully, our I-80 plans in the winter will only take us as far west as Des Moines.

My favorite Val Kilmer role is Madmartigan in "Willow", but I've never seen "Tombstone".
