Propane is living on borrowed time. My heater should run off the main fuel tank. That way I'm legal to drive everywehere. And save an expensive explosive extra fuel to pursue.
I think dual alternators will kill solar, except for maintenance trickle charging.
I can pass a good book on to a friend. Or library. Or hospital "reading cart." And I can leave a magazine at the barbershop. Or a waiting room. And spread the interest.
Juvie: The place where delinquets go to learn hardcore skills.
Watch the movie "The Bee Keeper". It's about that kind of scam.
That’s so cool about Oklahoma is in theater there and it’s been there since the theater. What an amazing thing to know of the theaters history. I loved that movie. I saw one of the actors from that movie and told him I saw him he liked looked me like your too young to see the movie. He danced in it. Oh yum that pizza looked good! Yummy banana pudding with vanilla wafers. You are making me hungry. lol! I hear you Jason on the West Nile Virus. Use bug spray. That’s cool they have an electronic button you push for your awning to come in faster. Pretty nice. Spraying pesticides that’s strange. Why do they do that? I never trued Target pick up but I’ll try it out. I’ve done Walmart I think 3 times. Thank you Jason and Abby! I’m going to do another video tomorrow. Surprise! lol! So I’ll see you tomorrow.
I agree with you Abby and Jason on the National park campgrounds. I love them myself. I agree with you on everything you’re saying g about them. Walking along the ocean is fun. Sitting on the beach as well. I’m Part of that 60 year old group. I may not look it. I’m going to be 62 this November 29.
I myself am in that category of camping when young. I was I think around 7 or 8 camping with a friend of mine either her family up I. Saline Michigan. We slept in a car and then later the tent. My friends sister and brother slept in the tent. When it rained we went into the tent and everything got soaked. But we had fun and went all went swimming in the lake. Then us kids went to the party store as we called them then. We bought snacks. We had a blast camping. Then later on went camping with my sister and her husband and kids twice. Once in a pop up and then in a travel trailer. It was fun too! In the pop up with the wind it rocked it. It was good when it rained we didn’t get wet. Just the pop up but not went inside. We were all good thank goodness.
Hi Abby and Jason! Happy Anniversary of 7 years with the podcast. I have known you both the same amount of time. I’m back watching the podcast. Congratulation! Sorry for taken so long I have been having issues with my internet and my email but got the email going now it’s the internet issue. Not why. I just deal with it and wait until it comes back up. It takes a bit. They told they couldn’t figure it out. But I have you on now so I’ll be watching this video. See you in a bit.
So glad to have you back watching! -A
@ I’m glad to be back. You know I love you both! 🤗🥰❤️
You talked briefly about hikers playing music while on the trail, first with portable speakers (which disturb others) and then with earbuds (which block out nearby sounds). I now hike wearing bone-conducting headphones, which let me listen to music or podcasts but let me hear my surroundings, since my ears aren't covered. You sacrifice a bit of sound quality but for me it's well worth it.
I've never tried those - but I really want to. I'd love to have something for bike rides. -J
@@RVMilesPodcast I've been in a couple of Best Buy stores where they have the Shokz brand of bone-conducting headphones on display, powered on, and available to try out.
An outdoor TV, speakers, and obnoxious exterior lighting are a curse to your RV neighbors and an insult to a dark sky and the natural environment. Just don't do it.
This comes across like a heavily scripted “interview” that’s supposed to seem like an authentic conversation.
Huh? Why would we do that?
Great interview, I enjoyed it.
It may have been a more interview-like conversation because Jason was asking for Damian's take on RV trends and the industry, but wouldn't you expect a show host to be asking more questions of a guest than they would ask their usual co-host? I think using the words "scripted" and "authentic" imply there's some deception going on here, which I disagree with.
To me there’s a difference between being prepared vs winging it. Maybe that’s just another description of interview vs conversation?
Thanks for the information! I am on the side of digital. I have a few moments here or there in my dual life of executive and content creator in which I can have a break. Having the digital right there are my fingertips means I get to enjoy that other content. A magazine is more likely to just sit on the coffee table and quickly thumbed through once and never looked at again. I do agree that it is very hard to get anyone who watches our content to just click the thumbs up and subscribe. We are the weirdos who do subscribe, watch those channels and hit the thumbs up almost immediately on those videos. That was us before we became vloggers tho' so that's just us as people. We are on the edge of full time (severely downsizing this upcoming year, buying our fulltime rig, etc) and we really enjoy finding out more about the lifestyle and equipment so we truly enjoy channels like this one and digital print magazines. Thanks for doing these interview podcasts, they are always interesting! PS...that's a satchel. I have one too! LOL!
The chapter timestamps are off. Makes it a little confusing to follow.
Love the show, reading in between the lines I can see your new camper. Trailer will be a grand design next year.
Thanks for watching! 😉
So glad you like the Ole Smoky Salted Caramel Whiskey! Enjoy it anytime! 😂
Tis the season!
A note about the US forest service and trail maintenance, especially the Appalachian Trail. The US forest service “owns” about 60% of the land that the AT passes through, other various federal, state, and local governments along with some private land. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) manages the trail and there are 31 volunteer-based clubs that maintain the trail. Yes, some funding for larger projects is through the other government organizations but by and far the clubs do the maintenance on the trail. With the job cuts I doubt you will see much change in the trail’s appearance. This is also quite common for other trails in other parks, local trail maintenance clubs do various tasks to keep out hiking trails in great shape. We have been a member of the NY/NJ Trail Conference (2,000 volunteers) since 1996. I encourage you to look up one of the clubs in your local area, join and volunteer.
Thank you for providing this info. Really appreciate it. -A
I have flat towed two different vehicles: 2019 Buick Envision behind a Class C and now a 2023 Ford Bronco behind a class A. I have several comments on the conversation: 1. Most RV parks do not provide enough space for a tow dolly and a tow vehicle separated from each other. 2. Tow dollies require many additional steps to hook up as compared to flat towing. 3. Most (all?) tow dollies do not provide brake systems. This puts all of the braking stress on the RV and its brakes. 4. Only the most serious of DIY’rs should attempt installing a base plate. It is a complicated process which requires removing most of the front end of a vehicle and may also require drilling holes in body parts for the towing pins and connectors. This is NOT a “shade tree” operation. I STRONGLY recommend only highly trained mechanics undertake this project. 5. The FMCA annually produces a flat (dinghy) towing guide listing all of the vehicles that can be flat towed in each model year. It lists the make, model and transmissions. It also provides some details on how the owner puts each vehicle in tow mode. If you are deciding on which vehicle to flat tow, pay close attention to that information. It could make a world of difference in your flat towing experience. Also, some vehicles have maximum speeds and maximum number of hours, requiring stops to start the tow vehicle’s engine to move lubricants over the engine or transmission. 6. I paid several thousand dollars to purchase a base plate and have it installed on our Buick Envison. I seem to remember it was about 5k to 6k. The Bronco system cost about 8k. Much of that difference could be explained by inflation between 6 year gap. But we were able to re-use our tow bars from the Envision setup to the Bronco setup. 7. Our class C RV did not provide an air line to power the brake. This means we had no choice but to use an electric Patriot Braking system. The Patriot braking system was powered by the 12v dc cigarette lighter plug in the town vehicle. It works via a pendulum in the brake. When the RV slows down, the pendulum in the brake swings forward switching on the brake. The harder the stop, the further the pendulum swings and the harder the brake system applies the brake. It has a communication module which connects to a monitoring device you set on the RV dashboard. The monitor allows you to see if the tow vehicle brakes are being applied. It also allows you to adjust the sensitivity (how hard the brakes get applied). Sometimes we had issues getting the brake and the monitor to stay connected. When we could not get the brake to talk to the monitor, the brake still worked, but you could not confirm that while you were driving. Blue Ox customer support helped us a couple of times to get that to work. 8. We use an air-powered brake in our Bronco, connected to the air system of our current Class A. That system requires an extra cable (the air cable) in the towing setup, but not a big deal. The advantage is that the air brake is permanently installed in the Bronco. So no need to set up and take down a braking device each time we tow. We did have a problem with the system. Our installers followed the instructions, but those instructions left the system turned on all the time, even when we were not towing. (In case you worry, it would not apply the brakes without the air line). With the system on, it drained the battery. We ended up having to install a (semi-hidden) switch under the dash to turn the system on/off. 9. Be careful of your hitch height. The tow bars must be flat from the Rv hitch to the tow pins. We hide to install a special hitch piece which raised the height of our RV hitch to match the high height of the Bronco. 10. As stated in the video, you cannot back up with a flat towed vehicle. Also, as stated in the video, you need a MUCH wider turning radius. For this reason, in our Class A, we stop ONLY at truck stops. That is a significant consideration in your travel experience. In the end, though flat towing is the way to go. Happy RV’ing!!! We LOVE
Trail maintenance needs to be done, and if the Feds aren't going to do it, the rvs, campers, and hickers could step up and help out for like a free camp spot while doing it. The Sierra club used to. Just idea.
Re: Blue Ox…just wanted to add a couple of pros…1) the tow bars and brake controller are easily transferable to a new motorhome…you just need to sort the baseplate/wiring for whatever car you tow. 2) Blue Ox always has a service place at Quartzsite which makes it easy for periodic maintenance. Now, one big ask! Please, Blue Ox, why on earth don’t you make BLUE tow bars?
We are Winnebago MH campers and bought a Grand Design Refection TT to leave on site to later make the transition to easier travel to a destination. I think our Reflection is a little more showy and comfy and priced better. Winnebago needs to be a little more proactive when customers have problems and not wait for their name to be drug thru mud on TH-cam, people are watching. Did you hear me President Happe. Sell your product, stand by your product.
Abby - love your hair with the pulled back strand on the side ❤
Thank you, Deb! ❤️
I just rewatched this and have to disagree with Winnebago's warranty cost last year compared to this year. First, this issue of frame failures was not as out there as it has been this year, let alone some of the other major issues my FB site has uncovered through our members / Grand Design customers. Plus, Winnebago puts ALL of their warranty expenses together and they are not separated them out by each of the RV assembly companies they own so there is no real way to find out how much Grand Design warranty repairs are to the other brands that Winnebago owns. They are manipulating their numbers, let alone saying where their "Good Will Gestures" are being accounted for on their books. They do a lot of "Good Will Gestures" at Grand Design to make themselves look like they are trying to take care of their customers. This is all smoke and mirrors!
I’m a morning person that sounds fantastic!
Don Clark already got a 5-year contract extension so they can't really fire him (I would imagine) so why not move him into a position where he can't do anymore real damage to Grand Designs reputation, let alone the horrible reputation that they now have, under his leadership. As I tell our members, TH-cam and other forms of social and news media are their kryptonite! The problem is the entire executive and senior leadership at Grand Design needs to go, not just Don Clark! They have all been a part of this massive failure on Grand Design and Winnebagos part. I don't think investors, let alone the RV community or even the RV industry as a whole, really want to see them continue down this same path and they are still continuing it.
I've never winterize even when I lived in Colorado and camped year round. Draining the lines has been enough to avoid any issues. I live in Texas now so I wouldn't even think of it
Enjoy this prime camping season in Texas!
What a beautiful state park.
Congress just got a big raise. Term limits…… The government can’t even run a dog show. It’s sad.
Having had part of my compensation before retiring being in company stock and options I don't see anything nefarious about company executives selling shares of stock. If you don't sell you never realize the compensation. The options expiration date might be coming up. Keep in mind that income taxes are due when options are exercised so it is common to sell to cover the taxes. There is also the fact that it is just good practice to rebalance your holdings when they get out of whack and options can cause your holdings to easily get out of whack. These are some examples and there are other normal reasons for selling company stock as an employee. A quick look at Don Clark's recent activity looks to be around 10K shares leaving him with 461K shares. Not a large amount given his holdings.
So many great questions from the audience! An obviously well-informed and thoughtful group- but I’d expect no less from the RVM faithful!
Hope to see you at a future event! We’d love to meet you!

Feeling your Fall vibes this week! Great show!
The fall vibes are strong. Bring on the sweater weather!
I’ll take ladybugs seeking quiet hibernation space any day over flies or mice! Or ants for that matter. Ladybugs eat so many aphids.
The ladybugs are fine in moderation but this was on a whole other level. There’s even one in our hotel tonight!
The wife and I head out Monday for week long camping trip for our 28th Anniversary on Nov 2nd.
Happy Anniversary! Ours is November 1st.

I was told that some of the manufacturing plants start/stop earlier to accommodate their employees. Apparently a goodly number of workers are Amish and they spend their afternoons taking care of home, farm and family.
Our motorhome is often called a "Land Yacht" so the car is the "Dinghy".
Abby it’s ok. We all make mistakes. I knew what you meant. They knew it too! Love you anyway! ❤❤
Bought a brand new Grand design xplore 25mlx. Recliners, microwave, wall outlets weren’t working. After a lot of head scratching I found that the electric breaker box had a split buss bar. I didn’t find this till I pulled the breakers out. Luckily there were enough spaces on one buss bar for all the needed breakers and the main breaker. Problem solved. If mine came this way from the factory then there are probably more. Just a heads up. It’s a 30amp single phase NOT a 50 amp.
See you both soon! Safe travels. Stay safe.
I hear you Jason on the people putting campfires on their patios that is so wrong in many ways. And Jason it’s ok by me you aren’t mechanically inclined. I’m not either. People shouldn’t make remarks like that on your video. I know I never would. I think you always do a great job Jason on this videos on Rv Mikes. Abby I hear you on the political ads. They are so hurtful. They are annoying. Especially during the Olympics. Love the Jardiance commercial. My sister takes the drug for her diabetes. We used to go a lot to Formula races in Michigan when I was a kid. I screamed because the noise was loud. But loved it as an adult. It is fun to watch.
I haven’t you last night as I went to watch your podcast TH-cam through me off for a bit and then got back on and when I went to watch the podcast I hit the play and for reason the video disappeared so I thought until I saw it on the bottom of the screen. It was really weird. I guess they set it up that way. Not sure.
What a nice couple to interview about their magazine Rv Destination Magazine. I wish I could get it. I love reading Rv magazines. Nice they have rvers that right columns for the magazines.
I was about that to Jason about tires on RVs. I get my tires for my car at Discount Tires too on my car. I have had these tires for I think 3 years. Still good tires. Abby I was wondering what that big thing was flying around you. I thought it was a bee but it’s too big. Didn’t know it was a wasp. Ut I would do the same run like dickens lol!
Hi Jason and Abby I would at the Resort with all those games you mentioned. Love table tennis and air hockey. I used to do both as a kid one at my cousins house and the other at mine because we had table tennis. I would actually live there. It looks really nice. That building on the outside is really nice. Love it!
So sorry for all the comments. That’s great Jack is in a film class. He did great on the podcast a few years ago. Glad you the package so you can fix the tire. Sue I love that place you went to eat. Ooo ice cream! lol! Sounds you all had fun! Especially with the film class and all. The games sound so fun. I wish I was there. lol! You can camp in and the KOA.oh good they except packages there as well. I’ll never forget the time that one place didn’t you went to years ago. That’s was fiasco.
I think I heard of the tire that cause one of the wildfires. That’s crazy but it can happen. I’m glad with the flat tires I’ve had that never happened.
I agree with you both on spontaneity. That’s a great idea. I would do that as well. I agree to try at least make reservations to go to state parks. It’s worth a try. That’s pretty cool you got notified of a spot opening for a campsite. I wonder why that is the numbers are dropping for the parks. I love going to Zion I’ve been there slot either by camping with friends or staying in a hotel.
