Awesome video man. I'm good at figuring stuff out, but I'm thankful you already did it. For anyone reading this you have to remove the wheel by removing screw on the tiny board attached to it and then gently pry on the right side of the wheel until it pops out and slide out of sensor on small board. You may have to pry gently on the board to get it loose after screw is out. Other than that everything was the same except I didn't have the symbol behind board :( lol

Thank you so much for sharing this! This helped me SAFELY fix my cola spill I did years ago... I just cleaned white key bit sides with ear sticks and vodka and voilà! And whole KB is looking brand new. Also found some nasty insects which failed to nest in my F1 and space bar, lol
I'm having problem with that keyboard as well, most of the keys occasionally either double registering or skipping, I can't figure out where is the problem coming from, some says that its due to the latest firmware update, in most cases, the problem fixes itself, yesterday I was facing one, had like 5 restart then the keyboard came back to normal, but I still can't see where is the problem exactly, right now I'm planning into buying another keyboard, thinking about Orion Spectrum this time, which is the same model that only had a face lift.
Don't, My Orion spectrum is doing the double register as well. It is random and it is pissing me off. A 190 dollar keyboard and this happens. My old g15 is still going so I may just move over to that again and be done with this issue. I will be going with the Cooler Master Mk series because to be honest, Logitech and their quality has went down hill and the they keep making the warranty time less and less. It really sucks.
I know nothing about keyboards and have owned this one for years. A deep cleaning is well needed which this video helps so much with, but my main question is keycaps and key switches. Are the key switches changeable or will it require soldering/losing it's RGB ability?? But I'm assuming switching the caps won't be a problem but how would I know what size and shape to buy?? Any help would be appreciated.
Oh god! so much thank you! Because I've already start thinking about buying a new one, not logitech, becauce a few Romero-G switches stop working properly and I thought it can't be replaced, but I rly love this keyboard, so now I'll just replace this switches with new ones.

do you have a video removing the mechanical part of the romer g switch? It looks like it has clips and comes out. I dont want to take it fully apart if i dont have to? I just need tre remove broken plastic in the holes where the key caps go in. 3 of the legs have broken off into the holes.
Great vid, helped a ton. TYVM Can I suggest an amendment? I think there's three 'medium' black screws on my disassembly. The other two are the two removed immediately before the other medium key that lights the G logo.
Thank you for this video. I purchased about $30 worth of a soldering gun/Desoldering gun and new keyswitches rather than purchasing a new keyboard for $100 because of this video.
i took mine apart because the volume roller was tight to turn and it looks like the roller switch was in sideways and when i went to turn it the wires broke off and i dont know which wire goes where there are red blue and black. can you tell/show me the correct wiring order?
hi sir, may i know if you still have the keyboard? are you able to help me find out the connection details on the wheel sensor?. all because i have accidentally broke it while prying out the keyboard. all i need is a photo of the connection colour cosrsponding to the sensor.
Thank you for this video! My keypad 'Enter' key was intermittent and I didn't know it would be so simple to repair. Without this video though, I know I would have broken something. :) This and the other two videos saved my keyboard.
this is really helpful (also had a broken space bar switch lol), and whoever wrote the guide on ifixit missed out on a few screws for getting the front plate off
James manson I am happy the video helped! I have burnt myself more times than I care to admit but I discovered soldering is a continuous learning lesson. I’m no pro but I have taken my share of mistakes!
I accidentally spilled on mine, and I was trying to deep clean it. Any way to get the metal plate off without de-soldering everything? I can but it looks like a pain.
Hugo Sanchez No idea. I typically keep a jar of screws from electronics headed for the trash that I have disassembled and harvested such things off of for repurposing. You won’t believe how handy it is to have a jar of various screws. A handy tip is it’s OK to try to put a shorter screw in a hole meant for a longer screw (if it’ll take). It’s not OK to put a longer screw in a short screw hole because it could puncture something very important. It’s a common mistake in the electronics repair field with rookies known as “long screw damage”.
Thanks for the video. Your model seems to be different from mine. In the lower part, there seem to be three hidden screws which are glued to each rubber bit. I managed to punch loose the rubber bit on the right side (facing down) without breaking the part (which is how I discovered a hidden screw), but the two others seem hard to dismantle with breaking anything. Any advice on how to proceed?
Sam Luna No. I mean it’s physically possible but it would take an engineering degree to isolate and separate just the volume wheel segment and still have it operate.
Sam Luna while I’m all for ripping something apart and making a Frankenstein.. Rather than destroy the keyboard go to ebay and search for “PC Remote Control Wireless USB Windows Media Center”. For under $10 you can get a remote to control not only volume but a load of other things. Im actually going to order one myself, seems pretty handy.
@@ConnivingBones actually already checked and they 20$. Not too much but still...i have the keyboard NOW and nothing to lose. Im just keeping the switches as backups for my other mechanical logitech.
Not gonna lie, your video was a godsend for getting mine apart. Gonna take a feather out of your hat and use one of the G keys to replace my damaged but more useful keys (F in particular)
hobomaster5 Awesome! I’ve got a lot of positive responses from these videos. I’m glad I’ve been able to help so many people. I repair cell phones, computers, tablets, and pretty much any other electronics that I can for a living. I just re-soldered some wires in someone’s treadmill control panel the other day and I’ve never worked on one of those before. I look at the new things as a learning lesson and a way to make the learning curve less risky on the next new thing. I have a passion for what I do and that keeps me going even if I stumble. I don’t have degrees in this stuff but I do have determination and a lot of personal experience. While I do have an Apple certification I had enough first-hand knowledge on Apple devices long before I ever decided to get my certification. I practically could’ve taught the class. I’m trying to find the time to do some more videos on the other types of electronics I repair.
Cheers for making this video. Had a problem with the space bar double registering. Swapped it with a key I don't use so much (one of the numpad keys) and we're all back and rockin :D

It might be your cable check the cable connection to the board it's very delicate but fixable with a new cable and solder I think good luck if not try eBay as is and contact sellers see if they'll sell that part you can also try contacting Logitech

Thanks so much for this. I just bought this keyboard and love it in every way.... except the wrist rest is a complete no-go with the way that I sit. I needed to know if it was at all removable. I guess not. Sad day. :(
2nd time I opened up mine for a cleaning and always forget all the screws locations. Managed to get rid of an annoying double tap on some keys with it so seems my G910 will live a while longer. Cheers
I have a second medium screw left over. Does anybody know where that is meant to go? I've already fitted the one at the top left near the G logo. G910 Orion Spectrum
i think my shift and control keys on the left side may be playing up in some way, my computer makes some weird squeaking zippy sound when i press them, is that a soldering related issue or something else?
Have you spilled anything on the keyboard? Seems like a grounding issue, possibly from electrolytic damage, causing feedback loop that is emanating from your speakers. I would suggest taking the keyboard apart and checking for corrosion or rust around any of the keys especially the keys that cause the noise. Also check your USB plug from the keyboard for damage and try a different USB port on the computer to make sure the port is not causing the issue.
@@ConnivingBones i haunt spilled liquid on it before, it has been dropped off my coffee table, more times than i care to admit, that's not a huge fall, but the problem seems to have been slowly getting worse. i saw a message come up saying something about sticky keys, witch is what was making the sound play, i think, now, and i disabled sticky keys in windows 10. but the shift and ctrl key do seem to some times need a firm press still.
Thanks man. I've cleaned up my Keyboard very fast thanks to you. But I didn't saw the widdow on my opened keyboard 🥴🥴 you maybe know why? I want one too. 😢
I've now fixed three of these, the first one I replaced three switches without a problem. The other two both needed several switches replacing but also worked fine prior to being opened however after I've replaced the switches and put the keyboards back together, the RGB now flickers every 5-10 seconds or so and I can't seem to fix it, this is frustrating!!!
Divsta Seems like there’s a short somewhere it could be one of your Solder points or it could be in a wire. You’d have to pull it back apart and examine everything to try to find the source of the issue.
@@ConnivingBones I pulled both of the problems keyboards apart, desoldered the switches I'd replaced and tried an alternate USB cable, all with no luck so far :(
Is this methode of take the G910 apart. A good way to look or clean under the Keys itself too? Because my A Key feels kinda hard to press sometimes. As if something is under it.
Nilser007 Yes this is a G910 take apart guide. If you think there may be something under a key first try “popping” the key cap off the key switch and seeing if it is debris that has slipped between the keys and got caught under the cap. If so it may be easy to just get it out with a toothpick or small brush.
Matheus Almeida Taking your keyboard apart may allow you access to what is causing your wheel to stick. So yes, I believe you may be able to solve your problem by taking your keyboard apart. My best advice is to check for spots that are sticky once you take apart your keyboard. Look for a rub/wear marks or sticky material like soda that has spilled in the wheel area.
thank you you saved my keyboard and I would like to know if the switches found on ebay or banggood have the same characteristics as the originals and why are my switches black and not blue? Maybe because I have an azerty (FR) version?
I got 2 replacement switches on eBay for $1.45 total, shipped from China. How that works is beyond me, but the replacement keys seem the same as the originals. My US G910 also had the black switch housings. The replacements have blue housings and are supposedly Romer-G made by OMRON.
@@ConnivingBones 7:06 but I managed to get it out, thanks. I had to jiggle it out with a tiny flat head. I spilled tea on it and was trying to get it apart to dry and clean.
Arden Unger I have no problems with the RGB LED lights on my board after soldering. The LED lights are mounted below the key switches on the surface of the board. As long as they are not damaged they should be fine.
This happened to me aswell, I swapped my G9 key with the space key. Yes, it does work afterwards. The RGB is in the board itself, not connected to the key.
this is kinda old and wont get any responses, but i spilt water on my G910 Orion Spark and now some of the keys (I, 7, T, =, and O) will not display blue colors. Is there still hope?
Only way to find out is to take it apart and look at the circuitboard. If you find corroded areas I recommend you clean them off with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Let it dry and examine the board under magnification to see if there are any obvious parts that have solder that may need reflow. If no reflow is needed then place the keyboard on a non-conductive surface (like the bottom half of the housing) and power on your computer with it plugged in. If it works then yay if not then live with it or replace the keyboard (I can’t find the LED’s for replacement). *Make sure you do not make contact with the exposed board when you have power to it.
yup today I spilled thea cammilon thea with a tiny bit of suger I spilled right on it, nothing happened its lights up it works but its a little sticky what should I do? how do I clean the sticky isch keys?
Just Niels Speaking candidly you should disassemble your keyboard and clean it with a cotton washcloth, damp with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and reassemble it when you feel you have removed all of the sticky residue.
Just Niels If you want to be lazy about it you can pull off the keys and try to clean them individually but that would be your choice. It may also result in the sticky effect not going away since you have not cleaned under the keys where they make contact.

Glad it helped!
It really sucks.
man i have the same exact issue !!!! double registering or skipping do you manage to fix this issue ?
@@llamaloka7043 I bought Razer Blacksmith instead and I settled on Corsair K100.
I made these videos for a simple reason. I wanted to help others. I can say I succeeded as I continue to receive positive comments from viewers year after year. It’s uplifting and inspires me to continue to try to put out videos to help people. It’s very hard for me to find time as I stay very busy. Thank you for helping bring that inspiration to me. Your gratitude motivates me to keep doing good things in a world where so many people want to pull the rug out from under your feet just to see you fall.
thank you for this video. my keyboard is clean and looks brand new again. thanks
Thanks for the video. I have a problem. I lined up all the screws and I have two medium screws. Any suggestions where the second one goes?
do you have a video removing the mechanical part of the romer g switch? It looks like it has clips and comes out. I dont want to take it fully apart if i dont have to? I just need tre remove broken plastic in the holes where the key caps go in. 3 of the legs have broken off into the holes.
Is there a way to remove that metal plate? I wanted to take apart the switches to clean but don'r really want to desolder every single one.....
Great vid, helped a ton. TYVM
Can I suggest an amendment? I think there's three 'medium' black screws on my disassembly. The other two are the two removed immediately before the other medium key that lights the G logo.
Thank you for this video. I purchased about $30 worth of a soldering gun/Desoldering gun and new keyswitches rather than purchasing a new keyboard for $100 because of this video.
Halo3dude0 That’s fantastic! I am glad my video has helped so many. Nice work for taking the initiative to do the job!
Thank you! You should make more guides like this. Your good at it most people who do it either get off topic have a shitty camera or something.
thanks bro, really helped me out as i had a lot of blood poured into it and had to deep clean it in emergency. 👍
i took mine apart because the volume roller was tight to turn and it looks like the roller switch was in sideways and when i went to turn it the wires broke off and i dont know which wire goes where there are red blue and black. can you tell/show me the correct wiring order?
Great video thank you! I need to replace a couple of keys on my G910 and the volume wheel. This will help a lot.
My g910 doesnt have the blue pieces, only the white movable and he black stationary. Is it still original?
hi sir, may i know if you still have the keyboard? are you able to help me find out the connection details on the wheel sensor?. all because i have accidentally broke it while prying out the keyboard. all i need is a photo of the connection colour cosrsponding to the sensor.
Thank you for this video! My keypad 'Enter' key was intermittent and I didn't know it would be so simple to repair. Without this video though, I know I would have broken something. :) This and the other two videos saved my keyboard.
Can you replace the little white squares that the key caps fit into without taking the keyboard apart ?.
Its an assembly that cant be taken apart while it is soldered to the circuit.
gahh, thank you for posting this!!! i KNEW there had to be more screws (the ones under the feet)!!
Do you by chance know where I can buy replacements??
@@JasssparDesign I don't, sorry
this is really helpful (also had a broken space bar switch lol), and whoever wrote the guide on ifixit missed out on a few screws for getting the front plate off
Thanks man, it helped me out
Great video. Had to learn how to solder. Burnt my hair. Had a huge soldering iron aswell and no removal tool. 2 hours
James manson I am happy the video helped! I have burnt myself more times than I care to admit but I discovered soldering is a continuous learning lesson. I’m no pro but I have taken my share of mistakes!
Sam problem here. Space is doubling strokes. Thank You for this video.
Thank you for this video you do really great explaining everything
I accidentally spilled on mine, and I was trying to deep clean it. Any way to get the metal plate off without de-soldering everything? I can but it looks like a pain.
Can you change the cable?
Do you know where can I get screws replacements? 0r what it would be the size of these screws?
Hugo Sanchez No idea. I typically keep a jar of screws from electronics headed for the trash that I have disassembled and harvested such things off of for repurposing. You won’t believe how handy it is to have a jar of various screws. A handy tip is it’s OK to try to put a shorter screw in a hole meant for a longer screw (if it’ll take). It’s not OK to put a longer screw in a short screw hole because it could puncture something very important. It’s a common mistake in the electronics repair field with rookies known as “long screw damage”.
*5:25* when putting it back together. Which screw goes where
That would be nice

The three black screws on the inside are the same length, but they are different from the screws on the back.
Any advice on how to proceed?
is there a way to get the ARX dock out to give it a paint job?
Yes, after removing the screws at the top middle, (beneath the label "ARX Dock Release") you can just pull it out.
Years later, still helpful.
Thank you!
Nice tutorial. I split water over my keyboard wanted to make sure no residual got in
My keyboard sucks, a lot of keys dont work. But the volume wheel does. Is it possible to remove that and keep it as a stand alone volume wheel?
Sam Luna No. I mean it’s physically possible but it would take an engineering degree to isolate and separate just the volume wheel segment and still have it operate.
@@ConnivingBones guess I'll crack this puppy up and see if i cant cut things off muahaha
Im just keeping the switches as backups for my other mechanical logitech.
thx for the video.. you saved my keyboard.
Swapped it with a key I don't use so much (one of the numpad keys) and we're all back and rockin :D
duk242 My pleasure!
Thank you, this was very helpful.
You’re welcome!
video was great as a reference thanks m8
does anyone know if there are replacements for the volume knob anywhere?
logitech doesnt sell them and i could only find one listing on my local ebay selling almost a whole keyboard worth of replacements ( also for the cost of a new keyboard )
im looking for the plastic part specifically since the ( what i think is a ) rotary encoder still works
It might be your cable check the cable connection to the board it's very delicate but fixable with a new cable and solder I think good luck if not try eBay as is and contact sellers see if they'll sell that part you can also try contacting Logitech
Hello my friend,i have a G 810 myself that has a problematic LED,from your video it seem that it wont be so difficult to change the switch.Couldn't find any disassembly video for this one tho..
Thanks so much for posting this!! I got stuck trying to do it myself with missing several hidden screws. This was exactly when I needed. Here's hoping it survives my fumbling efforts and the juice my cats spilled on it knocking my glass over.
Kat Kraus glad to be of help!
Screw Removal of bottom??? How is that possible without knowing the type and size of the screw?
Philips #00 will do.
I followed the instructions but the bottom part of the top plate will not separate and feels like it will break (it came right off in the video).
Cheers
How did the key chattering go away, just by cleaning it on the inside?
@@ShadicgunManjust cleaned some dust inside and that seemed to solve it...was only temporarily thou as the problem came back within days ;(
I have a second medium screw left over. Does anybody know where that is meant to go? I've already fitted the one at the top left near the G logo.
G910 Orion Spectrum
On mine the volume control cable has no connector and is soldered to the board... Wanted to look inside as mine started to double type...
i think my shift and control keys on the left side may be playing up in some way, my computer makes some weird squeaking zippy sound when i press them, is that a soldering related issue or something else?
SailorV84 Is the sound emanating from the computer itself or is it a mechanical sound from the keyboard keys
@@ConnivingBones its a soound coming out of the speakers, a Squeek buz sumetimes when i hold down the shift key or the CTRL key
@@ConnivingBones i haunt spilled liquid on it before, it has been dropped off my coffee table, more times than i care to admit, that's not a huge fall, but the problem seems to have been slowly getting worse. i saw a message come up saying something about sticky keys, witch is what was making the sound play, i think, now, and i disabled sticky keys in windows 10. but the shift and ctrl key do seem to some times need a firm press still.
so the squeak sound was windows Sticky Keys, now turned off, but, the shift and ctrl keys on the left side dont all ways seem to work.
can you remove the key caps without disassembling the board?
reid b The key caps, yes. The key switches, no.
Thanks for the video had to take mine apart to clean up some cat vomit 😖
Matthew Campbell Ewwwww 🤭
I'm planning on painting the front face plate white along the wrist rest. Are the playback buttons and m buttons removable from the plate?
you can easily push them out of their sockets
realy nice Vidoe, thank you. Good wishes from Bavaria
Thanks a lot!!! Feels like new now :D
@@ConnivingBones I pulled both of the problems keyboards apart, desoldered the switches I'd replaced and tried an alternate USB cable, all with no luck so far :(
can you give us the link of where you bought the romer g switches?
BILL MYLO ebay. Search for “romer g switches”. Ez pz.
Thanks for the video. Just curious, do you have the take apart the whole keyboard in order to remove the ARX dock (blue part)?
Yes. The screws are under the Board.
Thanks!
Thank you for the video, it helped me tremendously!
My volume wheel doesn't work, it´s like stucked and don't roll correctly. You think doing this may fix?
Matheus Almeida Taking your keyboard apart may allow you access to what is causing your wheel to stick. So yes, I believe you may be able to solve your problem by taking your keyboard apart. My best advice is to check for spots that are sticky once you take apart your keyboard. Look for a rub/wear marks or sticky material like soda that has spilled in the wheel area.
Thank you. That was helpful.
can you take the button black plastic thing out i dont want it
Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate a little more?
thank you
you saved my keyboard
and I would like to know if the switches found on ebay or banggood have the same characteristics as the originals
and why are my switches black and not blue? Maybe because I have an azerty (FR) version?
Energisse They are original and thus work as good as the ones that come in the keyboard assuming you do the repair in a solid way.
ok thank you
I got 2 replacement switches on eBay for $1.45 total, shipped from China. How that works is beyond me, but the replacement keys seem the same as the originals. My US G910 also had the black switch housings. The replacements have blue housings and are supposedly Romer-G made by OMRON.
How are you getting the volume control thing out. I can't get mine out. I feel like I'm going to break it.
Robot Raptor Which part the face frame or the actual panel?
@@ConnivingBones 7:06 but I managed to get it out, thanks. I had to jiggle it out with a tiny flat head. I spilled tea on it and was trying to get it apart to dry and clean.
Does anyone knows if cleaning the pcb will help with the double typing issue?
was there a screw in the center, on the back side? because you have a hole in the middle of that sticker.
Layarion No. My experience with taking apart electronics made me check under all stickers as I had no guide.
MySpaceBarDoesn'tWorkAtAllAswell,DidTheRGBStillWorkAfterwards?
Arden Unger I have no problems with the RGB LED lights on my board after soldering. The LED lights are mounted below the key switches on the surface of the board. As long as they are not damaged they should be fine.
This happened to me aswell, I swapped my G9 key with the space key. Yes, it does work afterwards. The RGB is in the board itself, not connected to the key.
Hidden screws, totally for ourbsaftey, and not so we accidentally break it. Thanks for the tear down guide.
Glad to be of help
this is kinda old and wont get any responses, but i spilt water on my G910 Orion Spark and now some of the keys (I, 7, T, =, and O) will not display blue colors.
*Make sure you do not make contact with the exposed board when you have power to it.
thanks mate, helped me fix my sticky spacebar.
yup today I spilled thea cammilon thea with a tiny bit of suger I spilled right on it, nothing happened its lights up it works but its a little sticky what should I do? how do I clean the sticky isch keys?
Just Niels Speaking candidly you should disassemble your keyboard and clean it with a cotton washcloth, damp with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and reassemble it when you feel you have removed all of the sticky residue.
Just Niels If you want to be lazy about it you can pull off the keys and try to clean them individually but that would be your choice. It may also result in the sticky effect not going away since you have not cleaned under the keys where they make contact.
