- Come along with me as I backpack for 4 days across the Swiss-Austrian Alps with my brother! In this video, we leave Carschinahütte in the Swiss Alps and climbed steadily and then quite steeply to Cavelljoch before crossing back over into the Swiss Alps for our final night at the very beautiful Schesaplanahütte.

Hi Christine- I've really enjoyed this series! Wonderful scenery and your joy shines through, with the usual great choice of music! I made it to Helm Crag last week and I was thankful to have got some trekking sticks which made my descent from Stickle Tarn easier in bad weather the following day! I found your recent vlog with advice for staying safe helpful and I'm looking forward to your thoughts on packing for different types of walks. Do include tips when you feel it's relevant! 😊

Ive run out of superlatives Christine. Just stunning and a very well put together videos by your good self! Ive been abroad quite a few times but usually to the likes of Greece and Tenerife etc but ive definately been missing out on such beautiful locations. Maybe I need to put that high on my to do list before the old bones give up haha. Have a great weekend Christine 🙂

Thank you so much - really nice to hear you enjoyed the video 😀 I'd love to go to Tenerife, heard it's got some stunning hiking trails & yes can definitely recommend the alps for hiking in Summer, especially on the Austrian side as relatively quiet and very clearly waymarked, you've still got plenty of time! Hopefully you can make the trip one day 🤞🏻

Haha yes! Just a tad different to Wales & Cumbria, the mountains here felt so small & relatively easy when I got back from the alps! Hopefully more hiking in Wales to be had in the next few weeks & maybe the lakes again before Xmas 🤞🏻 Hope you have a good rest of the week & thanks again, pleased you enjoyed this video too :)
You asked about areas to go to in Switzerland. My first visit was the Bernese Oberland - Eiger area and I've been to the Valais - Zermatt area several times but they are very busy. A less busy area is the Engadine in the S.E. of the country, south of St. Moritz, you can get there easily by train. It has a touch of Italy about it as a bonus.

I did enjoy it as it was the first time in the Alps, the mountains were so much bigger and I'd never seen glaciers before. I started at Adelboden and finished at Grindelwald over some high passes. The end of the trek was busy as you'd expect with fantastic views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. I did go up the railway to the Jungfraujoch and had a walk on the glacier to the Monchsjochhutte at 3657mtrs. If you have time google Soglio - a small village in the Engadine - it will give you an idea of the area.
@@peterholmes3011 thanks Peter, I’ve taken a look at google and it looks beautifully challenging, definitely one to add to my bucket list! Can definitely relate, the mountains seemed so small in wales when I got back from this trip!
Some great views 🫡. I've never seen so many sheep😲, those bells must get a little repetitive after a while 😂.
Also I want to do something like that in future do you have a kit list and a way that you planned your route and what you do for food/water Ect.
Thanks Matt 🫶🏻 and me neither, there were so so many, it was hilarious! And incredible that they were all being herded by one dog! And it can do, but I don’t mind the noise, rather that than city noises 🤣
Good shout, can really recommend multi day hiking, it’s great fun - will try and do a separate video on my kit/planning etc :)
