Notice that Finnish M62 has summer and winter sides (pretty dope feature even nowadays). When it snows, just turn the jacket and trousers insideout and you got a white side out. Winter side does not have camo but it's better than nothing.
Many times autumn spring and winter it changes rapidly according to environment wether green summer camo or white winter camo is better. Turning your most outern clothes upside down takes a minute
Funny to see the old mud & dirt outfit in a tube-video from the States in 2016.. :D The camo's are so washed out that the original pattern and colours are only barely seen on the pants of the collapse-stock AK-guy.. Suprised that they work that good but then again, it's subtropical forest in Texas and looks like springtime to mee. In a midsummer/august/september-time Taiga-region pinewood- and spruce forests that faded pattern sticks out like a sore thumb, I know this by experience. The latter version of this same pattern was the M91 and now, like already mentioned, the M05 is in use and it is digi-pattern and much darker. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!

Ah, you got a more lime and washed out example. During my basic and NCO training, I think I noticed 11 variations not counting wear. Some snow sides had the pattern on them, but I don't know if this was deliberate. Some variations were mild, like with different production batches. M92 finally standardized it. Oh, almost forgot; M62 is meant to be the topmost layer of clothing. Underneath there would've been the standard service greys (retired now). That's why the pants don't have hip pockets, but holes instead.
Yet another camo that doesn't look very impressive but, damn well works. I like all the Finns new camouflages. Their new woodland and, snow camo's look good.
Abraham Edelstein I was the last batch to see this in use in the Armored Brigade. The first day I wondered what a frigging clown/ elf suit are they wearing. It was winter as well and the white winter side looks elfy a/f.
I remember how we tried to spot our platoon from helicopter and they were using just old m62. It was really hard, even when we knew they were down there!
Impressive pattern in this environment/conditions!!! Nicely camouflaged when hide or stationary far to middle ground, lighting vs. shading up close, and relatively well concealed movement (that is so hard to do). Great video!!!
The M62 looks to be extremely effective. and you guys cover your self very well. you had me at the start I did not know that there were too of you guys . you got me . LOL take care.
I picked up two pair, lg and extra lg from Sportmans guide a few months back. It's working better than multicam in the woods and fields of Virginia. So far ATACs seems to be the most effective and available of all patterns. Great vids !

Hey Brent, I watched the video that Sootch00 put out on the FLIR TK Scout the other day and It got me thinking. You do a lot of camouflage videos using different patterns for different parts of the year. I am not as familiar with different types of camo like you are, but if you knew of and/or had the means to do a "Thermal Camouflage" video demonstrating any camo types or techniques for hiding from thermal im sure people would be interested. Thanks for what you do and keep it up.
Well you'll be delighted to hear that the current improved M05 pattern is going public soon, meaning everyone will be able to purchase it for personal use. Should they just find a place to get it from. When I wore it a while ago during my service it seemed to be a great camouflage at least in the Finnish woods. I suggest you try to get your hands on that one and also try to grab a civilian version of the RK62 rifle, should be available in the US. RK95 is a bit harder to get.
I will keep my eye out for M05 pattern, but I don't think I'll ever own any of the Finnish service rifles, they are going for well over a grand on gun broker.
Brent: any chance doing a look at Swedish splinter green camo? Or even the old German splinter? Thnx- really enjoy the postings. Puts things in perspective...
Yup. Biohazards if youre interested of the modern finnish M05 camo, you can order it now. Its coming on markets in 2 days, after market ban ends. its not cheap but its affordable. Thank you for your service and the great videos! Also, what do you think of the "Total Terrain camo" and the "ASAT" patterns? Would it be possible to do a video on them?
Thanks, I don't have any experience with those patterns. ASAT has been around for a long time and is a classic hunting pattern. From what I can remember its designed around the concept of how deer see and not necessarily how humans do. Total Terrain looks too much like UCP to me. I have to buy everything I do videos on so I only pick up patterns I'm actually interested in. I've never been a fan of UCP and patterns that resemble it.
Check his WWII USMC P42 video, Australian DPCU drew directly from that pattern. The reason he hasn't already done a AusCam video is because its so expensive to import
Nice. Seems more effective than the Russian one, where you seemed to always be with your back to camera, in this video, even while facing the camera it was more effective. But seriously, I would be more interested in urban camo.
I really enjoy these videos, I have a question, are any of our branches or foreign services looking into IR/UV properties of uniform? I know 20 years ago it was thought important in the "future"

Brent, I was wondering what you thought the two most effective patterns would be for Florida. I was leaning towards ATACS FG but wanted your input. Thanks

I'm pretty sure there were material differences and camo color variation. I remember having almost new trousers, with thinner material and darker camo than the worn out jacket.
Could you do wolf gray in woods and urban setting? I've been seeing it pop up a lot more and see the urban setting and some are saying it's not too bad in woods setting
I've heard it can be ok but not great, I'm more interested in the color as part of an every day wear component. These camo videos do a good job of representing the patterns and colors he uses in typical woodland environments in the US
I think there are definitely times where a 7.62x39 caliber would be more beneficial, but for a versatile wider range of operations I would go with a 5.45 for the same reason I go with 5.56. 500m plus max effective range, accurate, and ability to carry more ammunition.
Oh wow, you got very unlucky with the super faded jacket. Unfortunately with these, the fabric and workmanship is more durable than the colors.. We didn't have Valmets in either of our collections. Finland does have AK variants in reserve stores (known as RK-56, RK-56TP and RK-72 TP) and sometimes uses them when training as "opfor" units.
Ha, its funny you say that. I was joking with Bruce and made the same reference out there in the field. We were actually amazed how spot on the green was in the pattern with the environment. For a uniform at pretty much only cost 30 bucks for a full set, it was a pretty good buy.
3:10 is when you see the weakness of this camo. The pattern is kinda distinct because of the rounded shapes. Looks a little unnatural. That is ofcourse when you know you are looking for it. Still someone who has encountered this camo alot (iam wearing it right now to work) who knows he should be looking (like an enemy scout) could very well spot the pattern.
No pattern works when the wearer is moving and when you're still only the shade matters. And I guarantee that at 100 meters, you can't tell the difference between patterns with the naked eye.
Brent0331 ah. Honestly there are hundreds of stores with M62 uniforms in finland, but NONE of them have any sort of headgear. It was more common to use a hat called m36. It was used in the war and it was just a great hat. M62 hat was a bit more uncommon.
You might find someone that could sew some from you, we just used the material from a surplus shirt and copied a "make your own bucket hat" video from youtube.
ich have Seen one of you every time except the First picture. two times i've Seen both of you so this time you were not so good than all the other times when i've seen your videos but it was funny too.

4:02 again same issue with the pattern standing out
Yea i keep catching them over and over because i know the pattern too well. Major flaw
No pattern works when the wearer is moving and when you're still only the shade matters. And I guarantee that at 100 meters, you can't tell the difference between patterns with the naked eye.
WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THAT HAT? IT IS LEGIT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY M62 HEADGEAR IN FINLAND
+Pagan Min Bruce cut up a shirt and made two boonies out of it.
Brent0331 ah. Honestly there are hundreds of stores with M62 uniforms in finland, but NONE of them have any sort of headgear. It was more common to use a hat called m36. It was used in the war and it was just a great hat. M62 hat was a bit more uncommon.
Brent0331 Would you care to make a few and sell some to me?
You might find someone that could sew some from you, we just used the material from a surplus shirt and copied a "make your own bucket hat" video from youtube.
texas
I actually spotted you both within 5 - 10 seconds.
Our camo fits Finland very well
Our patented camo is illegally copied by the ruskies
ich have Seen one of you every time except the First picture. two times i've Seen both of you so this time you were not so good than all the other times when i've seen your videos but it was funny too.
M91 IS THE BEST
Looks ugly in my opinion but is really effective here, greetings from Finland
10:33 your welcome
Great vid, Brent. Pattern worked a lot better than I thought it would. I was wondering If you could maybe try some Yugo m93 camo? It might be difficult to get a full set so I understand If you can't
