    One of the best things I learn from you Jim, is you give reasons for adjusting colors whether warmer or cooler, which is great to explore on how far to adjust the colors (and why), and seasoning to taste. Whether to give photo more mood in tone and color, but not overdoing the saturation. Great education, thanks!

    I've been anxiously following your tutorials. I really want to like Neo. Just downloaded the official release version made available to early adopters. It's DOA for me as on export all metadata is stripped out of the image. I guess I can use it as a plugin to another program, like affinity, but I was hoping to have a simple editor to use for the majority of my photo's and only move to affinity for special photos.

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for that, and to be quite honest, I have never used Split Toning in any of the past Luminar software (I have them all from Luminar 2018). But then again, I am more of a 'hobbyist' rather than a photographer. Add to that, I am not into what you would call the 'Psychedelic' look. What I am trying to get to is the sight I saw when taking the photo, so to that end, I have purchased Neo and subscribed to your Newsletter, so hopefully, with your advice, I can now achieve the look I want......Carry on with the Good Work, Jim!

    I have the new Neo and I hate to bother you about this but how do I open a single image? I do not want to "catalogue" everything...My other concern is that Skylum is making the same mistake that photoshop did years ago. The actual image on my laptop screen is only 600 by 800 pixels displayed. The math for adjustments only needs to be done on this small image, not my 4000 by 6000 raw file every single time I change something. Are we SURE that they are not mathing the whole file? And I can't seem to shake the feeling that when I change the color temp for instance all the adjustments are made all over again from the first to last. The color temp adjustment could just be applied to the small display image. It could just be that the AI is slow but, as I said, I keep getting this feeling.

    Downloaded NEO 1.0 on my W11 PC with no problems so far as to developing 3 RAW 32.6mp files. I have by no means dug down deep in all the tools, that will take weeks, but so far absolutely no hiccups. I must live right or keep my PC up to date in all things as I read so many complaints in new software problems people have. Is this reflective on PC versus Apple?? I have never had a Mac due to my habit of continually updating and getting better hardware incorporated into PC causing a life use time of approximately 10 years. Understand this is not capable with a mac. Hope all these problems go away for those who are experiencing these problems. I have done split toning in the past, though I think it is rare when I use it. Honestly, I am a fan of Nik software and mostly for their white neutralizer. I have not found that in either ON1 nor the Neo or earlier Luminar. So while I might start playing in ON1 or Luminar, I will take in to Nik for the white neutralizer. With you beach scene, I was thinking that neutralizing the whites is probably warranted. Maybe you can correct me if I am wrong about the ability of the other two softwares to neutralize whites?

This morning, I received the 'official' NEO 1.0 release that I, along with about 30,000 others purchased back in September '21. So, I ran the install (Desktop, plus as a plugin in Photoshop CC 23.1). What a complete and total disaster. NEO will install but NOT launch, either from the desktop or from inside Photoshop. I do get a glimpse of their pretty little NEO logo, then nothing. I'm on 64-bit Win10 with 32GB of RAM, a fast, very stable machine. Have uninstalled and then reinstalled NEO. Twice. Same-same. This is the kind of not-ready-for-release vaporware we were mostly used to getting saddled with back toward the end of the last century. Pathetic. Just plain pathetic.

      Dominic : I see Luminar have sent another update since you last spoke, it is version 1.0.0 9199, I haven't downloaded yet as I don't want to go through another system restore !
      I wonder are you still going to wait a while ?

      @@whamni Hi Alec. I'm waiting to actually hear directly from Skylum tech support before wasting any more time. It just doesn't seem possible that they were unaware of this bug in the initial release.

    Hi Jim,
    Very disappointed with Skylum for releasing another product without fully testing it out. They did the same when they released Luminar a few version ago. Not very professional. The only reason I continued is that they gave me the next version free. This is not the way to treat your paying customers.
    Significant number of people with Neo on windows cannot get past the splash page. Even the update has not gone past the splash page.
    Surprised that you rave about their product

      Hi Satya and sorry to hear that has been your experience with it. I did see another update is out today for Windows in case that helps. It has been working fine for me; I have not had any of those problems. But I understand your frustration if it is not working for you.
