OH, yes! The beauty is in the details, and you certainly know all the details. I heard this album the first time in 1962, and it was the main reason I even wanted an electric guitar. I was 12. Great playing, Tom!!
Looks like you are a Jazzmaster guy. Love your playing. I have a 65 original Jazzmaster in Ocean Turquoise that I have owned since I was 16. I'm 75 now.
Fantastic performance.......One of the best Guitarist on TH-cam......Super Cool Tom......So Talented.......another Great cover..... Thank you again Tom.......for such Wonderful Video........I miss The Conlon Brothers for backing.....take good care Tom all the BEST!
It's great to see someone ably tackle Freddie King's classic material - the few who I've heard try always seem to go for Hideaway, but cool that you picked another gem. Thought your tone was pretty darn close to his Les Paul w/P 90's he used back then.
0:25 Major 3rd on descending double stops. Should be xxx13x12. Before that, where the riff lands on the V at 0:15, you’re playing a B- couplet where the chord under it is major. Freddie just plays the one note, Bb to B. If you’re gonna play 2 notes, make the others D to D#
I beg to differ on both counts. Sounds like a minor third to me on the descending sixths at 0:25- xxx12x12. (Slow it down and listen to just that part on the original recording) And when it lands on the V chord at 0:15, there’s a slightly muted, barely audible D natural (not D#), that is more pronounced when he plays this part later in the song. Thanks for listening and commenting.
I like this better than some of the versions played by some legendary guitarists which for me were played too fast and/or with to much distortion. Its true to the jump blues of the original.
Great cover! Freddie King had a certain sound and you nailed it!! You obviously prefer jazzmasters can you tell me why I'm thinking about getting one but can't decide
I really like your videos and have learned several Ventures tunes from you. How about their beautiful version of Yellow Bird? I can play all of it except the sliding parts. Would love to see you do it. th-cam.com/video/vJnj2N5z3m0/w-d-xo.html

One of my favorite channels on youtube. I haven't practiced in a while but when I do its while watching your surf covers.

Yeah, me too! I have learned quite a few of Tom's covers, and I just can't quite make them sound as good!
