Had them all, Glock 42, Ruger LCP, LCP 2, and LCP MAX. The Bodyguard 2.0 so far is flawless, 250 rounds of different brands and grains of ball ammo and 50 rounds of Hornady defensive ammo. Great shooter although still learning the sights.
Wouldn’t you suggest waiting a year or so for different recalls ?
I just got this one today. The mags were extremely hard to top off for sure. I just did a quick 50 rounds at the store and had no issues. I definitely like the gun for the size.
@@jbgetsyawrecked ya, I don’t think they will have any issues. It’s amazing for its size.
Just got mine and everything about it is stiff! I'm chalking that up to tight tolerances and expect things to loosen up over time. It's a great little pistol and exactly what I wanted out of a daily carry pistol.
@@Motorep146 you’re going to like it. Shoots great.
Thanks for NOT editing out any issues you may have found.
@@berlinjackson1847 thanks for watching.
I run Fiocchi in all my 9’s and actually prefer it. (TTI Combat, 365 fuse, prodigy, beretta 92fs….).
This new bodyguard has my interest. Thanks for the reviews and keep it up.
Me too. I think they make perfectly fine ammo. Only my experience though. Thanks for watching.
@@averagemarksman my bodyguard 2.0 does NOT like fiocchi at all, did great with S&B flat nose, and hornady dritical defense, but fiocchi training dynamics jam up when feeding almost every other round.
May I compliment you on these couple of videos on the new Bodyguard.
Getting the magazines to loosen was a great move on your side.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
The only .380 that’s had zero issues over its 10+ yr life is my original design LCP. It has reliably fed all brands of FMJ & HP and is carried in a DeSantis Pocket holster.
@@oldcop18 in your experience? I’ve seen issues with it online.
@@averagemarksman I have too and count myself as one of the lucky ones. I picked it up second hand but have no idea how may times it was fired before I got it.
@@oldcop18 that’s great news for you.
After watching your previous videos on the malfunctions, I picked up my own BG 2.0 yesterday and first thing measured the magazine width with calipers before and after loading. The magazine width expanded by .020 of an inch on both the 10 and 12 round mags. That could explain the failure to feed on the initial round. I left my mags loaded overnight and will go to the range today and find out how it shoots.
I think you’re going to enjoy shooting it.
Try putting the magazine in when the slide is back. The magazine should go in easily. Then, use the slide release or pull the slide back.
Did you watch the video? The slide was locked back when the second magazine was loaded.
Really looking forward to picking one of these up. Love my LCP Max, and it had its moment, was definitely better than the OG Bodyguard, which i also owned at one point, but I really dig the design of this one. My only other current wishlist item for from smith after this is a CSX 2.0 with a nice trigger and a longer grip. 15rd CSX 2.0 with 4-5# clean break trigger. I'd also prefer the option to remove the ambi safety and just run left side, because i tend to pinch my hand on the right side when disengaging the safety. I could also use a longer beaver tail, but that's more of a me problem because i ride my grip so high.
@@snapshotdod I think you’ll like it. I was surprised how well it shoots.
Thing's sending brass into the next zip code, lol. 😂
No joke. Ejects the round with zero issues.
I’m going to put another 200 rounds through it tomorrow. I guess I have some faith in S&W. I really wanted something different for a pocket gun and it’s check’s all the boxes
I feel like they did a great job. I think it’s going to turn out to be a fantastic little pistol.
The same people who’re complaining about the magazines being too tight before they run some rounds through them are the same people who would be complaining about them being sloppy junk after running some rounds through them if they were weak to begin with.
My magazines have been loaded since the day I picked up the gun. I have shot more rounds through it than my wallet cares to admit and I still can’t load 12 rounds into the 12 rounds magazine.
@@averagemarksman and mine I can do both mags. It’s not the easiest and I don’t have super powers, but I can do it.
I've always like fiocchi and never had an issue. Also have Magtech and some S&B--so far it's eaten it all fine. Looks like you're left handed and shooting a bit right (which is common bc us right-handed folks tend to be shooting it a bit left).
@@jedcoupland8587 the first couple of videos every single person blamed the ammo for the issues with every gun. Was pretty wild.
👍👍
Thanks for watching.
Just got through first 100 rds one and no failures, but I didn’t force that last round into each mag.
Like how it feels, shoots great, but with Winchester 90gr white box the ejection “pattern” is crazy. Like anywhere from 2pm to straight up. You see that from it yet?
@@d_juxtaposition_b I did. It happens in this video towards the end I believe. Very random.
Oh yeah I didn’t even notice it first time I watched
@@d_juxtaposition_b I saw it editing the video. I didn’t pay much attention to it while I was shooting. I’m a big fan though. I like the front and rear sight.
@@averagemarksman same here, they really got this one right I think. Just gotta break those dang mags in.
Mine shoots way left and the rear sight is way left on the slide, S&W told me 4-6 week turn around.
That’s terrible news. That turn around time seems like forever.
Anyone else find the slide lock very difficult to work ?
There was another comment (it may be on a different video) about the pistol failing to lock back in the last round every time.
I love it in almost every way. But be honest, you don't think the feed ramp could be part of the issue at all? I really think break-in will solve, but looking at that ramp, I am a little concerned.
If it was having issues outside of the first round then I would look at the feed ramp. Loading and unloading the magazines will help break them in pretty quickly. I’ll keep the videos coming about it. I’m a big fan. Cool little gun.
@averagemarksman I'm fan too. Quality is excellent. That finish blows everything else I have out of the water. Guide rod is on another level compared to my lcp max. Grip texture is perfect. Fits my girly hands beautifully. Weight and size make it extremely versatile for carry options. I think you're right about tight springs, break-in should do the trick. If not, I'll polish the ramp and cross my fingers.
@@Aaron-ro4kvI think you just describe everything I thought was great about the pistol.
I like your style of review. I'd like to hear more about this one. Maybe report again at 500 or 1000 rounds.
@@johndomutz1052 thanks, John. The goal is to give an accurate picture of what happens along the way. I’ll keep everyone updated.
Do you think you’ll keep the Bodyguard?
100%. I’m looking forward to getting a small holster for it.
@@averagemarksmanmaybe get a pocket holster. That thing is so small.
Considering options now. I think a small IWB would be great for athletic shorts.
Never buy the 1st model gun or car.
@@tedcollins4684 everyone’s different. Cars cost a bit more than a $400 pistol.
@@averagemarksman a defect with either can get you hurt
@@tedcollins4684 that is true.
@@tedcollins4684I have to keep reminding myself this cause these boys are sure making me want one definitely an awesome concept and love the content on it but I have to remember it’s still new !
