  • As a Christian, do you ever feel like you are on probation or even on parole? As though you've been set free from prison, but now you need to do well enough to be finally free from fear and the threat of punishment? Many of us feel this way. Many in the church talk this way. Jon and Justin consider justification and the finished work of Christ--and what that means for the Christian life in today's episode.
Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin talk about final justification and why it is harmful. Then, the guys move on to consider being a fruitful Christian, as well as the writing of John Owen. Enjoy!

As a former Roman Catholic that was taught it is presumption to believe you will be "ultimately" saved, this message is a breath of air and a comfort to my soul. I pray all Roman Catholics will come to the true knowledge of Jesus Christ and rest in Him. Thank you Pastors and keep it coming.

I have always wondered how Roman Catholics deal with verses like 1 John 5:13. We shouldn't be nonchalant, thinking that since our "ticket is punched", we don't have to worry about anything or that we can go off and do whatever we want from there on out. If someone acts in this manner, I would have serious questions about that salvation of that individual because it doesn't reflect the changed heart from Ezekiel 36:26. But at the same time, Christ is the one who holds the sheep. None will be snatched from His hand. Like Paul says at the end of Romans 8, NOTHING can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus, THAT INCLUDES EVEN OURSELVES.

The fight of faith is not fighting to behave....the fight oh faith is fighting to not slip back into works...to rest totally in Christ and none of ourselves...our righteousness and His righteousness cannot exist together...

Ephesians 5:25 shows exactly what our Lord Jesus will do, and has already done, which is everything!
"25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless."
Praise you Jesus! Thank you so much for what you accomplished!

It is about time someone started exposing all the lies we have taught. You can't have peace without knowing your salvation is settled, and we are justified in Christ without our own works.

One is saved by faith alone, but one is not saved by faith alone if your faith does not produce good works. Great logic.

Millions of young "Christians" living out Animal House on college campuses love these types of preachers.
