I find it interesting that some Gen Z’s look older via procedures. In the 40s & 50s, young people in their 20s wanted to look older. Why? Because looking older was synonymous with being a “grown-up.” Less is better when it comes to having work done.

With that said, it's terrible that the halo effect and other biases impair our ability to judge the quality of people's intelligence, humor, and other characteristics. Being able to remove these biases and be honest about whether people are attractive means that being ugly doesn't make you less intelligent whereas looks centered coping society (hollywood gaslighting us into thinking looks don't matter when they do) means people will perceive you as less intelligent bc of it.

Ive seen diagrams of what is supposed to be considered handsome to the female gaze and I just did not agree as I do not view eurocentric features as appealing but i wouldnt go say these people are "ugly". As someone who IS. Middle aged, I feel a little insulted 😅. 40 is a GOOD age. Life begins at 40. I think it’s patriarchy brainwashing women to think we age more than men. Men actually age faster than women, but the patriarchy says they don’t have to have this youth appearance to be attractive. Why? Why am I not considered beautiful at the time in my life I feel the best and can offer the most simply because I don’t look like a 20 year old (I was considered ugly when I was 20 btw). ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. Women usually aren't allowed to age.. even though we literally live longer than men in most (if not all) countries.. I have a feeling lots of these insicurities come from the fact that women are told they must look like they're in their 20s forever.. as as soon as a woman turns 28 or 30, they try to keep the 20s look.. not because they want to, but because that's what assholes who don't allow women to live and exist peacefully tell them. I just turned 23, but I find older women MUCH more beautiful.. if redpillers people were to read this, they'd tell me I'm lying, cause they think they're the only ones allowed to have opinions..

I've pointed out to a few ppl how the entire "men don't have a biological clocks" only exists to fluff the male ego yet does a lot of harm. When the sense of mortality kicks in, it hits men harder. Not only are they forced to grapple with the reality of aging, their hormones dropping off, the fact that most young women don't actually want older men, they also have the sense of "I've been lied to my whole life?"
At least for women, our clock is stuffed down our throats from birth so it's easier to process whereas men can & do spiral into a full blown existential crisis.

It's like the Sephora kids now who are using Drunk Elephants retinol creams and peptide creams and exfoliating products, it's going to take a toll on their skin as they age because more often than not, young skin just doesn't need that many active ingredients which turns counter-productive. I know people think skincare is mostly harmless but unsupervised or ill-knowledged and unnecessary use of skincare products can cause your skin to be worse make you look older, especially since potent skincare is becoming so accessible now and it's being targetted at young girls.

“As a plastic surgeon, I tell you that it takes about 5 years to learn how to perform a specific surgery, 10 years to master it, and 20 years to be able to say to someone DONT DO IT.”
I have always wondered why some of the best plastic surgeons in the world dont really seem to have that much done to themselves. Some will proudly display their own aging signs, while making fortunes removing them from others.
And then it hit me: they probably have seen first hand how going overboard with cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery can literally end up having the opposite effect. Like when you are still in your 20s and 30s but you pull and tuck so much you end up looking like someone 20 years older who is trying to look 20/30, you know? And its such an easy line to cross, most people will only notice it after the damage has already been done.

At least we will have a few who are lucid enough to go against the current and will put the patient’s health first instead of money.
At the end of the day, they might be part of the problem but so is the whole system we are all inserted in. And also, bc we have experienced how harmful some cosmetics procedures can be is that we now know which ones are not worth it. It might be hard to accept it, but that is how humanity has always evolved and progressed: through trial and error.

Realizing that it's a game none of us could ever win, no matter what, took a good deal of that weight off my shoulders. Thinking about the people in my life who are not "conventionally attractive" but whom I am deeply attracted to helped me get perspective. Realizing that I was queer and no longer needed to measure myself by the cultural "male gaze" helped even more. Thinking about what I actually wanted (a strong, healthy body) helped me reinvent an image for myself apart from current beauty standards. It's been a process, learning to love and care for myself as I am. It's a process that will continue and change as I change with age. But it's been worth it, for the peace, confidence, and compassion it has grown in me.

So they go to get a refill for nails, lashes, filler and Botox in the same shop and it’s super cheap compared to US prices. So the UK’s unregulated cosmetic injectables market is evident in their media in stark contrast to a regulated US market where yes, we have an increased demand, but you have to go to at least a medical spa under seen by a doctor if not an actual dermatologist or NP.

Like you spend your whole childhood as a cis girl with the knowledge that you will have breasts one day, but then to grow up and basically not develop any naturally, and seeing other women who already have naturally larger breasts than you getting boob jobs, it all makes having tiny boobs seem like the least desirable most unfeminine thing in the world.

honestly, not just on this topic, It feels like everyone just WANTS to hate stuff at the moment? Like the world and life is so difficult at the moment and theres so much built up anger or rage or resentment and so people need something to take it out on, and instead of finding a healthy way to work through that, a lot of people online just jump on the next acceptable thing to tear down: be it someone who looks bad, a celebrity who did something or didn't do something they should have, whatever. people harass a celeb to use their platforms for good (like the Kardashians being critiqued over and over again for not acknowledging their role in the current beauty standards) but then if they DO what people have been asking for (like Kylie talking about it and coming to terms with how its not just affected her but larger society) people still arent happy because it's too late or feels performative. Idk I just get the vibe that some people will never be happy because they dont really want to be, they just want to shit on stuff or tear it down so just for a minute, they can feel big/superior in comparison

@@bunnyellabell I didn’t take it that way neither did I mean it negatively against women. of course because i am one and also go through my own list of insecurities day to day. All my point is that men aren’t really out here making posts about things they don’t like about women’s bodies. Not half as much as women are posting about other women’s bodies and about their own insecurities that dominos into a trend. We are creating the trends for our insecurities right now massively. It’s making young women insecure about things they didn’t know they could be insecure about. No one in person told them anything to make them think otherwise about a certain part of their body until they see massive amounts of other women who are insecure about something which in turn makes us feel like we SHOULD also be insecure about that thing. It’s just getting weird how we have found any and everything to be insecure about nowadays and are blasting it on media so everyone else feels the same. Somethings can be kept to yourself as it is your insecurity to begin with compared to making it everyone else’s insecurity because of how you feel about yourself. I hope this makes a little more sense and I have become clearer with my comment!🫶🏻

I'm a 40 year old woman, when I go out people often tell me that I look like I'm 28. I do not know why. I think it's genetics because I've never had any work done 🤷‍♀️ I wish plastic surgery was still meant for people with deformities, like birth defects, people who get into car accidents, burn victims, these types of people who actually need it.... I wish they were prioritized above the people who just want to get a BBL or who just "need" to get their face stretched because they look too old🙄That is very vain and it's very trivial when compared to those who actually NEED plastic or reconstructive surgeries.

I was recently at a congress on public health on Brazil and we were discussing about not only improving our public health system, but there was a point made that we should abolish private health completely. Because when health and medical practice is mercantilized, harmfull unnescessary procedures are sold, people waste resources, we have surgeons and hospital beds that could be ocupied by sick or hurt people that are ocupied by BBLs, nosejobs etc etc. Health should not be a commoditie. These people should get therapy not surgery

I don't understand why people don't just delete their social media. I've had mine deleted for years now. It's a waste of time and terrible for mental health, and it's a bunch of women pressuring other women to spend money or ruin their faces. Most of my social circle is men, and I don't know a single straight man who likes when women have filler, duck lips, fake boobs, etc. The pressure definitely comes from other women in my opinion/experience.

This actually makes perfect sense from the male perspective:
      1. Heterosexual males are attracted to beautiful women
      2. The evolutionary purpose of this selection is to determine health and reproductive fitness
      3. Cosmetic procedures confer desirable traits on women who didn't have them naturally
      4. Therefore, cosmetic procedures are reproductive fraud

I was just thinking how beautiful she looked and she kinda looked like Selena Gomez (pre botox) smh. As women we really need to learn not to fall into the pressure to get botox, especially in our twenties.

Making women insecure about themselves is a whole selling industry nowadays, and yes: you are absolutely correct that it is one of patriarchy'way to control us. I still believe that the favorite tool that the patriarchy came up with to make us weak is making women compete against each other women for men's attention, which is basically glorifying men, instead of allowing women to support and sooth each other and be in a community as it would be a more natural feminine behavior.
    Love to us 🫶💓

6:52 Lets put it like this, as a shortcut to thought: Women in their 40s and 50s get fillers to look 30. If you're 20 and you get fillers, you'll also look 30. Don't waste your time and money doing something that may eventually turn to something you'll regret. Think long term, not just now. It's called a trend because it's temporary.

The best beauty tip is to preserve what you have already. Don’t make drastic changes. I haven’t owned a hair dryer or straightener in years. I drink water mostly and don’t use facial creams. Foundation and some lotions can cause break outs. Hair dye made my hair fall out. Hydrate your hair. My hair was always labeled a rat nest until I found products to reveal I had wavy hair. Walk outside for light exercise maybe.

I mean, come on. You know that’s not true. Beauty standards existed long before social media, and in some ways was worse before social media and the access to filters. It’s different. But social media didn’t start body shaming, and leaving it won’t fix it.

Those who pursue beauty just to be seen can easily lose their way. If they are happy its great, but I always get sad wondering if those who dedicate themselves to it are doing so for the gaze of others who would have never respected them to begin with.
Listening to the words of snakes will always hurt you, gotta love yourself first. I know plenty of people who get the only one surgery, they wanted, and suddenly they want 3 more. It's a concerning thing to want more and more of something that is completely intangible.

there's this channel, robert & james welsh, they're twins & one specializes in makeup & the other in skincare but they collab for sillier funny vids too on this channel.
they did a vid where they used various tapes meant to pull your chin fat back to make it look skinnier, some kind of special effects putty to build their noses & cheeks, all this stuff to "change" themselves to more ideal versions which was partially a joke because they're not skilled in these things lol but also, a lot of it was like "well, i'll add a bit more here" "cuz i added this, now this looks bad, so i'll add more there" & it just spiraled from there.
it really does add up & up & up, it's really so difficult to get one thing done & not want to change everything because now this part of themselves looks out of balance compared to the artificial.
there are great docs who are mindful. my little sister wanted a brow lift, lip fillers, more i can't even remember, all induced by kylie & social media. her doc slowed her roll, pointed out how great she looks & doesn't need all these procedures, but maybe a little bit of filler (much much less than my sister wanted lol) on her upper lip to make it a bit fuller because we both have larger lower lips already. she was so happy with how she looked & is grateful the doctor treated her so thoughtfully.

These companies change the bar, raise, lower, move sideways, diagonal, etc, because they want more and more money. Once i realized that i started doing what made me feel good about myself inside and out, and prioritizing health. Especially when it came to wearing what i wanted.

If Miss Kylie and her family members hate the pressure of the spotlight so much they can take the money they’ve made and quit today.
Her family runs the machine she works for. If Kylie was really that bothered by how people judge her appearance she could turn her frustration toward Kris and Caitlyn for that and tackle the root of her pain.
Her parents set her up for this caged bird lifestyle of permanent isolation and anxiety. You can’t blame a crowd for behaving like crowds do. Especially when your family serves you up to the world on a silver platter. But that is also not on us.
She didn’t get to consent to being the poster child for youth beauty and that’s something to give her sympathy for, but she’s in that position now and as an adult she’s got every freedom and opportunity to bow out and break the cycle if she’s THAT miserable. But as of now, she’s more comfortable sitting back and complaining about how mean everyone is while she takes their money :) her priorities seem clear

Bullying has always existed right? I’m 34 but even before kids had phones I got laughed at for having a big nose. Millennials like ‘oh idk how kids these days want fillers etc’, I wanted a nose job since I was 11 years old. And ‘filters and sm are the problem’, I remember using photoshop from as little as 16 years old.. that was nearly 20 years ago! This isn’t a phenomenon this is being a woman, on camera off camera in 1990 in 2024 doesn’t matter. We will be talking about this until the end of time. There will be an apocalypse and a kid will still be bullied for being ugly lol extreme fs but not such a crazy take considering how horrible humanity is towards each other

I was always insecure because I didn’t think I’d ever be as great as my older sister, I can’t IMAGINE what Kylie goes through.watching the clip where she says she would be heartbroken if stormy wanted work done really made me sad for her because her mom probably encouraged it.

I mean yes, the criticisms about these women are true, but I wish people would think about how much worse it would make someone feel about themselves to hear all of that stuff being said. I hope we really are getting to the point where we can cut the fillers and love ourselves.
