Cool. You're up in Eagle River,Wi. I'm down in Janesville,Wi. You have the Challenger (my favorite plane). My Dad has a Kitfox and my brother has a Piper Tri-Pacer.
Outstanding video. Growing up my family had a cabin in Land O Lakes. I’ve always wanted to fly over the area. And have been recently considering a Challenger on floats. My dream is to repeat your flight video. Thanks for the encouragement. Your so lucky.
Kevin - thanks for the comments, considering putting the Challenger up for sale as I’m flying another plane now. Let me know if you might be interested.
I grew up fishing and boating in Eagle River, staying at Eagle River Lodge. I remember seeing an amphib at one of the houses and thought that was so cool and would love to do that someday. Fast forward: I’m 24 and a certified pilot.
Really liked the video. I have been pondering about the possibility of maybe buying one similar. I would have liked to seen you put it down in the lake. I'm from eastern Kentucky and flew a Cessna 172. I have around 100hrs flying. I haven't flew in several years and would love to get back into it. Again, awesome video. Nice TNG too!
Thanks for posting your videos with the 2 views. I am looking at building a Challenger II LW. Do have a panel mount transponder, if so which is it & do you like it? And what mount with shield do you have with your GPS. That looks like it would be a good glare shield.
Yes, I bought a Microaire T2000 used with Atk350 encoder , picked the Microaire due to small panel footprint and generally happy with it. I had to install since plane is now at a class delta airport. The GPS mount is one of the RAM mounts and glare shield is custom made with a sheet of black plastic and velcro'd to the old Garmin GPS 296? If you get a modern GPS you might find a shield is not necessary. Good luck with planning for your own Challlenger!
Tom, Love the video. You're getting really good at this! Split screen and commentary is great! Most importantly, the flying is great! How hard was it to resist just setting her down on Moon Lake? I can't wait for you to do this! I also can't wait to fly with you….when can we do this??? Lastly, I loved the fly over Crystal Lake. Good memories.
Search on Amazon for "GoPro Strut mount Challenger" and you should find my design which is available to buy via Amazon. The mount has a neoprene compression foam that helps to dampen most vibration.
Roy Kerwood Roy, sure I would make some of my video available , especially if used to promote Challengers and experimental flying. Can you explain a bit more of what you are intending to do? I have some more footage shot in recent months that might be of interest as well. Anyway , let me know... Tom
platne4 I am planning to fly to Native Communities in BC and then Canada to talk to youth about addiction problems and how they can avoid addiction. I am planning to get a II on amphib floats just like yours. I want to use a clip in a video to promote my plan. I have a book about the Recording of Give Peace A Chance here is a link I'd like to embed your video gofund.me/cbdhddp4

Enjoyed your video but was very disappointed when you did not have a water landing and takeoff!

Thanks for the ride!
I have a challenger 2 and pondering putting it on floats.
Whoa.. you are correct, the second airport is Land O Lakes (KLNL) , updated the description, good catch
Haha, really confused me. Interesting aircraft you have though, and great footage!
Why no water landings? Waiting the whole time to see a water landing. Nothing!

The sucker didn’t land in water because he is afraid of water. You didn’t get it ?
Great video! What happened at the end?!?
Awesome Panel with nice layout, which engine do you have 503 or 582 ...?
It ain’t a floatplane if it doesn’t float, I wanted to see it land on water with the non retractable nose gear!
Nicely done

What did you use for anti vibration material on the strut mounted gopro?

Disappointment. No water landing...wasted only 8 minutes at least of my life at least.
