    Well I have been flying for 30 odd years and in days of old a trike with a 447 2 stroke Rotax. Some 500 hours of flying I think it failed some 6 times; small end bearings peppering the pistons to points gap closing to ignition failure in the ON position and jammed full throttle etc.
    On one occasion flew a few hundred feet above a forest and she failed; sh#t !, Amazingly a postage stamp field appeared out of nowhere; winged it in skimming the last tree but landing at a rate of knots, through an arrester wire farmers fence like an aircraft carrier hook and she stopped with the wing relatively gently nosing over and bending the monopole.
    A few weeks later and we're good to go again; a lucky escape I think and one for the log book and memory bank.
    Not as exhilarating as this vid by far but hey I'm still here.
    If the engine fails in that video situation yousa fecked.
    Hmmm wonder if my saviour field still exists 🙏

    Sure, awesome footage indeed! Very “cool”! But at what risk? Is it really worth it? I’ve been flying, and teaching flying, in ultralights for 43 years, since 1980. Never an accident, never even a close call, even with a few engine outs over the years. In one of your comments, you sound pretty cocky that you’ve gotten away with this sort of irresponsibility for 30 years. If you’re feeling invincible, and enjoy the thrill that much, then go ahead. But to take an unknowing passenger who probably doesn’t understand the risks of riding with a pilot with that sort of attitude, is not ok! Being a good pilot is not about your ability to handle your craft, but rather your ability, or willingness, to make sound responsible decisions on how to fly. THAT is what your passenger is 100% trusting YOU to do…. with their life.

  • @125brat
    @125brat ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is totally irresponsible and stupid flying in so many ways with a complete disregard for the rules and the safety not only of the pilot, but of the passenger and people on the ground.
    The pilot clearly does not have the required mental capacity to hold a licence and should lose it if he has one.
    The rules that make flying so safe today are written in the blood of those that have gone before us.
    I've been a trike pilot for over 20 years and this type of flying is what gets the sport a bad name and even more regulation.

      I fly a Powered Parachute and I have flown much lower than I should have, many times. Recently I have taken to flying higher altitudes when I have a passenger. The thrill is not worth the risk, in my opinion.
      I do take a few more risks when I am by myself. You can’t land on water and trying to get out of a four point harness after you have just smacked into it at 30 mile an hour or more is dubious.
      I think it is wise to fly at an altitude at which you can land safely should you have an engine out. Oh, that’s in the FARAIM also.

    • @125brat
      @125brat 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@teogr23That's if they know and fully understand the risks, but most passengers I would be sure don't have all the risks fully explained to them in a way that they can make a reasoned judgement.
      A good pilot understands the risks and takes decisions to mitigate or minimise those risks, but a reckless pilot ignores the risks and carries on regardless. This pilot is reckless and I expect sooner or later he will run out of luck. I just hope he's not carrying a passenger when it happens.
      Luck and aviation are mutually exclusive.
