To be honest, Mario Kart really really needs an adventure mode like this game. Mario Kart pretty much has nothing to do solo.

You don't have to worry about Nintendo copyright ID's from Diddy Kong Racing.
Although it's got Diddy Kong in it, Nintendo now regard it as a Microsoft product, because, technically, it is. the only Rare games that Nintendo outright own are the Donkey Kong Country games, Donkey Kong 64 and Slalom for the NES as they were commissioned work.

I'd love to see that too, since from what I remember of the game, not many levels with it being easy to get to the end level, and the game play felt inspired by Toy Story 2.

***** Mario Kart 8 is my favourite Mario kart but CTR has better single player and the items won't screw you and with all the drifts and boosts you can pack into a race like Sewer Speedway it just feels faster and more technical than Mario Kart 8

Little did this man know, this amazing game would be getting an amazing remaster years later.
CTR was a masterpiece, and as much as I love Mario Kart and I think a lot of Mario Kart games are better than CTR, MK probably wouldn't have evolved into what it is without this great competition, and if Naughty Dog had continued making these games, there's a chance they would be better than the current Mario Karts, which are spectacular.
Mario Kart 8, IMO, has the most weight and realism in a kart racer I've ever seen, but the fact that this game managed to come very close to that feeling of balance between weight and maneuverability, almost 15 years before MK8, is just spectacular, CTR, along with Mario Kart 64, made Kart racers what they are today.
Holy crap, at 7:25 the shift from CTR to sly cooper acually looked synchronized.

Strong language, but I do feel that it's better. Caddi already mentioned how it feels "easier" handling-wise in his review, and how quickly powerups come and go, which I think are big reasons. Not to mention the kickass music??? I mean, come on.

Crash Tag Team Racing fir the PS2 was the first crash game I played, and then I played the others. I must say Crash Bandicoot is my childhood and it's a shame we aren't getting any new Crash Bandicoot games. I guess after Crash of the Titans they just gave up and didn't want to work with the franchise anymore. I enjoyed Crash of the Titans, but it wasn't as good as the other crash games.
They *did* make Mind Over Mutant a year after Titans, but at that point it seems like Sony just gave up and tried to parody other types of media. It's a case of scarificing style for substance and hoping it will work.
JCBro2014 actually Activision currently own the rights to Crash bit they're too busy with Call of Duty and Skylanders to bother about Crash. Or Spyro for that matter.
Crash the Dragon All the more reason to hate them for ruining a good franchise while choosing to focus on franchises that have long overstayed their welcome.
We had the same fucking childhood. Tag Team Racing was amazing. And to this day I love Crash of the Titans.
Rave Elemental I loved Tag Team Racing's sense of humor and the two karts concept was handled better than MK: Double Dash, but it didn't have the same vibe that I got with Nitro Kart and Team Racing.

The boost system was actually in Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, 6 and 3 years before CTR.

He specifically mentioned that he was talking about the boosts you get from jumping off of ramps, not the entire boost system. Ramp boosts didn't appear in Mario Kart until after CTR did them.
I don't care who did it first, CTR did it better.
EBsessor I thought he was talking about the "getting boosts while drifting" thing... >.> In which case, Mario Kart 64 did do that first. But if he was in reference to a system that let you "do tricks" (or just time a command input) while losing contact with the ground to get a small speed boost, then yeah, CTR is the idea leader on that front. ((NOT arguing superiority/inferiority of one party or the other; just fact-checking for my own sake.))

Whatever you guys do, don't try the original first! Try it last. Play Crash 2 and 3 first. You won't miss much story-wise, but i encourage you to play 2 and 3 first, because many people play the original first and toss the series away afterwards. Crash 1 is simple and hard, it's honestly no where near as fun as it's sequels.

Nitro cart wasn't bad, was it?
To me it was a cheap PS2 port of CTR. The carts felt so much heavier than in CTR and you lose so much more speed if you hit obstacles. The level design also was more boring.

Nitro Kart's biggest flaw was that the non-boosted speed was too slow and yawn inducing. Otherwise it was pretty decent. Even if I didn't care for a couple of the new characters. Tag Team Racing, however, was horrid!
