OMG how things have changed for us old timers! I am just getting back into the sport after a short absence of about 14-15 years, Side puller! Dacron connector! Internal Bush! I am so pleased I have found this channel, some fantastics videos. I even sit and hold my pole wrong now well it is 20ish years old and I have too due to the weight. Looks like I need to make a few investments. I have had the odd day at my very local Commercial in the last few years but normally tuck myself away. Alot to learn. Thanks for the videos. More on Partridge please.
You guys are just like how my mate and I used to be before he passed away. Thanks for such a good laugh and to top it off I learnt something too. Keep p the amazing work guys.
Hi Guys thanks for another awesome video explaining how to elasticate your top kits. I'm going to do mine when it arrives as I've got the best missus in the world who has bought me a Daiwa Matchwinner MW2 13m pole with the spare kits and cupping kit, can't wait to christen it maybe on Hayfield lakes. Keep the videos coming guys whether they are serious match fishing or challenges you both do, tight lines 👍
Great vid as always, Answered a lot of questions with a giggle 👍. Ive just bought a lovely 10 metre matrix torque carp margin pole, sadly it didn't come pre bushed and I've had a lot of difficulties getting a bush to fit correctly. All the matrix bushes have been out of stock online so I bought a maver bush at the correct size and that was slightly to loose so I've just had to order a load of different make bushes to see if one will fit nicely.
Vernier calipers or a micrometer that will measure the internal diameter of your pole tip will help your search. A good tackle shop will be able to do this for you, and then be able to narrow down the correct sized bush for you. It can also be done using the narrow No1 section from a match kit (the useless bit the lads mentioned) and a standard micrometer. Push the narrow end of the No1 into the narrow end of the No2 until it is a snug fit, but not tight. Mark this point on the No1 with a sharp blade. Measure the diameter at the mark with the micrometer....and Bob's your cross-dressing aunt. The internal pole tip diameter should be 0.1-0.2mm larger than the outer diameter of the bush you fit. Then its a case of deciding on rhe bore size for elastic you want to use. You are welcome.
If you get stuck with an old tip kit with no elastic in it a couple of shot on the end of a piece light line can be dropped through the kit and then used to pull the elastic through... takes seconds
i remember back in the day, we had to use an elastic tensioner , like an s shaped platic thingy that you woumd the elastic around inside ur top kit hahaha.
Great video lads, good to know how to elasticate a top kit with a side puller hole, by the way Jamie the knot you used to connect the elastic to the braid looked like a figure of eight knot which doesn't get used much nowadays. Perhaps you could do another video all about knots next time
I always make my dacrons from a carp leadcore system. cut off about 4 inches, take out the acctual leadcore and make a overhand knot, thread a pullerbead over it and your done
Advantageous is a word Andy, I tried making your short dacron from the first video but you did it too fast, this is a much clearer video which is now very easy to follow, I've also found an even easier way to attach normal dacrons without fiddling about trying to get the two loops to thread the elastic through.
If you don’t have a threader I have fed elastic through easily through each section under a bath tap with constant water running through top kit with elastic following through
Wow brilliant tips guys will do as you say, ordered the Preston bushes, many thanks, have to ask you 2 brilliant anglers have you excepted the 11 minute challenge on how many fish you can catch from Mark Dawes. Stay Safe All
Great video Rich with the current travel restrictions I've only got a disused canal to fish what connectors would you recommend for no4 elastic thru match top 3
Andy, I have just ordered the MAP 1001 10.2m Margin Pole. Should I order additional Power Tops as I have 12 Tops 2's which I used with my MAP 201 2G. Thanks. Good Video's these are with lots of little tips etc.
They 1001 has a shorter topkit than your 201 will have, so even though they will be compatible, for the best performance you will want the version 4 kits. Just match the number you have to how varied your fishing is.
Pretty much all the big brands do now, but if not have a chat with the shop and they will be able to sort an internal bush to fit. Most will be more than happy to fit them too :)

ys back after ten years and my old carbon composite pole with a bung is like me old , good luck when your back out on the bank
Advantageous is a word Andy. 😁👍
And it's a figure 8 knot.

Superb 👌🏻 come out just before i re elastic all my top kits with new dacron & puller beads

@@stevemccrory9130 Cheers mate, I've managed to get a bush that fits nicely now. It was just alot of messing about. 👍
Great info done with a giggle, think the items Jamie uses should be itemised in the drop down! IMHO 👍👏👏
Andys face when Jamie said long bush 🤣🤣🤣
Is the short bush Brazilian😱👍
If you get stuck with an old tip kit with no elastic in it a couple of shot on the end of a piece light line can be dropped through the kit and then used to pull the elastic through... takes seconds
Yep, done this. And also flicked the tip so the weights are forced through faster.
@@jamsams just cast it fly fishing style!🤣

The link I keep adding is getting deleted because its on another channel. Its a pity, but I sort of understand. Sorry Rich.
Many Thanks Great video wouldn`t it be good policy to wash out the top kits before you elasticate them .

Perfect guys - brilliant vid
I just tried the short Dacron with 25lb fluorocarbon and it works perfectly super super stiff
Brill!! This has come a week to late for me, doh, just re done my elastics on my match kits 🤦♂️

Could you use a loop tier to make the dacron?
Jamie can I just ask what knot you tie by the puller bead ? Thank you 😊

brilliant well explained
Great video Rich with the current travel restrictions I've only got a disused canal to fish what connectors would you recommend for no4 elastic thru match top 3
Little plastic stonflo or make your own tiny dacron 👍🏻
Thanks for reply 👍

Yes advantageous is a word 👍
Hi guys, great videos I am fishing a natural reservoir for silvers on the pole how do I go about targeting roach with 4mm expanders and micro's .
What's the reason for wanting to use pellets? On a natural you're generally better going for more natural baits.
Who makes the diamond eye threader tool (yellow handled one) that Jamie was using and what’s it called please?
andys face when jay said big long bush 😭😭😭😭
How do I store the topkit back into the full pole when the elastic runs through the first two parts of my rod?
Are the side puller bush with the wheel in sold separately, and are they a standard size that will fit most side slots?
So what is the size of the internal bush that fits inthe other bush because the 4.1 is too big a bush for my 701 pole lads?
How are you starching the rig to the dacron last time I did it we did t have side exit toolkits and we used the PTFE connectors?
Have a watch of that, it's the same on a dacron as doing it directly to the elastic - th-cam.com/video/hlD3Rb_cYkI/w-d-xo.html
Cheers I get it now! You guys have I spired me to start fishing again especially seeing as you go to some of my local venues
how do you connect your rig to the camotex???
Would you ever use a 3mtr Elastic to do 2 shortstop/shallow kits
thanks
If you can do it without it being over pingy then why wouldn't you. Not worth wasting it for the sake of it.
Why as soon as you guys do a video does everyone and there auntie copy 🙈🙈🙈🙈 winning ways always number 1 😎😎😎
On the dacron why do you use semi stiff and not stiff
Erm how are we attaching the rigs to that dacron
Same method as that th-cam.com/video/hlD3Rb_cYkI/w-d-xo.html
Pots dont slide on now you can pinch them on soft rubber ie guru middy gripflex pots!
hello, someone tells me that it is exactly the piece of minute 14:18
They dont always come with the poles bushes that is depends on the brand
Pretty much all the big brands do now, but if not have a chat with the shop and they will be able to sort an internal bush to fit. Most will be more than happy to fit them too :)
