    Seriously is no one talking about that loop he made with the loop tier. Well done mate. I’ve been teaching that for years.

    Yes I see what you mean about the small knot Joe. I had that happen and now always tie an old fashioned crows foot. This has never let me down, but you obviously loose a bit more elastic, each time you re tie. Great explanation though pal 👍👍

    This happened to me a few weeks ago and I was left scratching my head as to why it came off. Now you have confirmed it I will also be going back to dacron for my carp fishing.
    Great video mate, thanks.

      I think its worse with thicker lines. I've never had it happen before, but since upping my mainline to 0.22 this summer it's happened twice.

      Try slipping a 2 or 3 inch of hollow elastic over the last part of elastic then your Dacron or line has a double piece to bite onto.

  • @Prasutagucaster

    Marvellous piece. I find the line from the rig loop cuts into the elastic too, especially with big carp, and accelerates the weakness. Brilliant alternative. Thank you

    That tip to swap elastic from long kits to short ones is something I've been doing for a few yrs, saves money, plus the well used elastic is.a little softer and ideal for f1s shallow, skimmers also.

    I use drennan method conector (plastic s shape with sliding tube in the middle for method feeders). Hooklenght on working side, small loop on the tube side. That setup works great for me.

    Good explanation. Please explain the advantages / disadvantages of "double-bushing" - saw your kits had a bush within a bush. Thanks.

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cut my kits back a long way and would need a huge bead to prevent the elastic from disappearing. I like a small discreet bead so had to reduce the bore diameter using a double bush. It works well and the elastic runs smoothly too

    Hi Joe I found same issue
    But I found a fix without a Dacron, I tried and tested and ain’t had a problem since,
    The lasso knot you do behind the knot on elastic I’ve decided to put a no8 stot and use the stot to zip tie the line to elastic

    Ive lost several rigs with the direct method they just slipped over the knot, so ive lost confidence in it at the moment, i used to use the crows foot or plastic connectors.

  • @millercol97

    how do you get your elastic to last more than a month, I've only got two top kits, im using elastic lube, I would say the elastic is used twice a week, 12 hours at a time, any elastic I use starts to turn "milky" and ends up having lots of micro abrasions through out the elastic,(fishing shallow for carp 10lb+ in open water) is it due to how I store the top kits after the session ?

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be. Or you just catch loads of fish!
      Even when mine loses colour I still use it

    • @Andyfishing23
      @Andyfishing23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try using rig hook ups from Preston. I use the direct bead method all the time and it does fray after a few sessions. I just cut it back an inch.

    Personally I don't like either my rig comes off with them. I prefer the stonfo connection at least it's 100 per cent secure.. and contrary to what some think you can actually slap the rig using the stonfo I've used it to good effect at my locals .. cudmore and Blake hall complexes

    I lost several rigs when line is direct to the elastic. With Dacron I dont. I have seen the elastics damaged due to line cutting into them.
    Do some close up videos of a couple of set ups -
    1 - Thin line(.13.) Line direct to elastic.
    2 - Thick line(.19.) Line direct to elastic.
    3 - Dacron to elastic.
    Bottom them all out under close up and see the damage done.

      Hi Joe I still use the old stile i lasso my dacron over the elastic the way Des Shipp use to do it and check it each session works for me but would you say the complicated granny knot is better
      Plus shallow fishing for carp the no dacron would the line cut into the Elastic quicker
      Great video 👍

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @paulsomersetwolf5970 we found the lasso method caused a strangulation situation and made the cutting through worse. But it's whatever works for you Paul and if you are checking it every time out then that method won't let you down 🤟 I think its worse when people leave them unchecked for weeks at a time
