It's absolutely ridiculous to think that the man regarded as the fastest man in F1 for 03,04,05,06 and possibly 07 would take so long to have another pole.
His stock went up a lot with his two seasons at Lotus, outperforming the car but his Ferrari return 2014-2018 was less successful, being comprehensively beaten by Alonso & then Vettel.

14:07 that incident nowadays you would give back the position or a 5 second penalty. A drive through penalty is harsh but those were the rules applied.
Raikkonen was unlucky with his exhaust problem, massa capitalizing. Good result for Toyota in 3rd. Lewis was on the back foot after a grid penalty but had a drive through from his own mistake and scored no points.

David Coulthard’s greatest drive was here in year 2000. His best win I would say David Coulthard Vs Michael Schumacher was a brilliant Battle great race here he caught Schumacher and passed him in the end he was on fire great pace and very agressive and showed Michael the finger.
Lewis's traditional annual "Off-day". Just a collection of errors really. But throughout his career, he always seems to bounce back from these off-days very well at the next race, as he did at Silverstone with, imo, the greatest drive of my lifetime and the best since Schumacher in Spain in 1996.
Bad Race for Lewis not really his fault though. The Drive through Penalty was very Harsh and he didn't agree with it. He would of scored points if he didn't have that drive through.

The notion, repeated throughout, is Hamilton lost “an easy win” in Canada. But he didn’t. He was already behind Raikkonen and Kubica after the stop and Heidfeld would probably have won, bearing in mind the only reason Kubica won is synchronised swimming between the two BMWs.
If there was no SC at Canada he would have likely controlled that race from start to finish Sutil car breaking down started the chain of events that ended him crashing into Kimi in the pit lane Edit - or a SC around the time it came out
Yes all True Raikkonen and Kubica both Jumped ahead off Hamilton at the Pit Stop so Hamilton definitely wouldn’t of won or wouldn’t of been a easy win cuz Kubica and Raikkonen Jumped him at the Pit Stop.
After the exhaust tailpipe broke on the right hand side of Raikkonen's car, I am astonished (and was at the time as well) that he wasn't shown the black with orange circle flag (car in dangerous condition and must pit for repairs). That tailpipe flapping around in the gale force wind produced by the car was dangerous to himself, spectators, marshalls and other drivers. He should have been called in for repairs, F1 dodged a bullet that day, especially when it finally came off

Coulthard was 3rd here in 1995 & 2002. Won in Year 2000 and he probably would have won in 1999 if his Mercedes Engine didn’t fail. He had a lot of poor reliability in his Career. He would have won more races and more podiums more points if it wasn’t for bad reliability.
A crushing performance by ferrari that day really solidifying their advantage in aero efficiency, Lewis was especially rusty that day honestly might have been his worst driving performance up to that point in a formula 1 car and a lot of pressure on his young head going to the next race at silverstone with some of the press already beginning to turn on him, the mistakes he should have been making in his rookie year coming out in his sophomore year. Questionable McLaren strategy I know this was the Lewis tire shredder years but they really should have ran a longer first stint to overcut the clearly slower cars in front (this was overlooked as a result of the drive through penalty)

Tbh I think Mclaren’s strategy was the correct call. Be lighter so that lewis had enough of an offset to make overtakes. Lewis and the team just made an error of judgment in thinking he’d passed Vettel cleanly. Had he let him back past , he would have been able to overtake him again and get back to where he was before the drive through (and had no drive through so he would have been on course to score points). Plus he was being very erratic behind Piquet. With heavier fuel, Lewis wouldn’t have been as fast and perhaps would have been stuck behind the likes of Coulthard etc because of it and lost more time

No Massa's Fault.
Yes Mark Blundell was right Hamilton should have come off the throttle and let Vettel go by. But he was alongside Vettel so he must of felt he could get past him.

I think he should of gone for it up the inside there was room he was worried Piquet would close the door on him and would be contact going up the inside. And Piquet wasn't experienced so maybe made right decision. He was held up.
Yes Hamilton should have let Vettel Past him. Hamilton went to fast to hot into the chicane and ran wide from a different approach to the corner angle.
It wasn't a good Track for Overtaking hard to Overtake but it was great seeing the Cars Race round the Track. There isn't a Chance to Overtake at Turn 1 not a proper corner.

The last F1 race to date at Magny Cours. Very odd circuit, it staged a few memorable races but was in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

A higher fuel load would have meant starting further back than 13th given they had to qualify with race fuel in Q3

Yes Mark Blundell was right Hamilton should have come off the throttle and let Vettel go by. But he was alongside Vettel so he must of felt he could get past him.

@@alexlazebat839 he was still in the title race even with those 3 (only 5 points off his teammate and was level after Silverstone). What really took him out was the run from Germany until Fuji.

He thought about going up the inside but thought better of it thinking they would be contact like Martin said. I think he should of gone for it up the inside there was room he was worried Piquet would close the door on him and would be contact going up the inside. And Piquet wasn't experienced so maybe made right decision. He was held up.
Yes Hamilton should have let Vettel Past him. Hamilton went to fast to hot into the chicane and ran wide from a different approach to the corner angle.
Timo Glock Started 8th, Finished 10th. David Coulthard Started 7th, Finished 9th, he had a poor start. Mark Webber Started 6th, Finished 6th.
I quite like the track not keen on the first corner though no opportunity to overtake.
The Renault had better Straight Line Speed in this Race like Brundle said.

What has gone wrong with F1? This track was so good. Paul Ricard has been terrible in general, and now there is no French Grand Prix at all 😮
It wasn't a good Track for Overtaking hard to Overtake but it was great seeing the Cars Race round the Track. There isn't a Chance to Overtake at Turn 1 not a proper corner.
