    Such a great watch! I remember waking up early on a Sunday morning as kid then watching these F1 races with my dad on ESPN!

    My favorite era of F1. I would go to my GFs house early in the morning and tap on her window to let me in to watch F1 because she had ESPN. Nigel was my favorite and always gave it 100%. Miss Varsha & Hobbes, best commentary duo ever. Thank you to whomever taped this back then. I had a few seasons saved without commercials on VHS, but they are gone now.

    Such a shame Capelli couldn't win this race. His oil light lit up with 3 laps to go & he had to back off to allow Prost through, otherwise the engine would have blown up completely. He barely rolled the car over the finish line at the end

    • @joaom2057
      @joaom2057 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Not only that. He lost a mirror to. Became very difficult to defend his position...

    • @cribbe6547
      @cribbe6547 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@joaom2057 yeah also true. He had no idea if Prost was attempting to overtake him on the end of the main straight where overtakes mostly occurred. He was just having to brake as late as he could & hoping Prost wasn't sending it up the inside. It's a real shame Capelli's ride in 1992 with Ferrari broke his spirit. He was a talented driver

      @Shadeburst -- not God, but Murray Walker and he was the voice of Formula 1 throughout most of my fan years. Logistically, following F1 in America was challenging, but I was fortunate to have benefit from a few technical advantages unavailable to the general public when working for a large OEM computer company.
      Varsha did a good job, once he learned to pronounce the names and places. David Hobbs would trade him about it. It was a well balanced team and I always enjoyed John Bisignano's technical insights. Never enjoyed the constant commercial breaks.

    @29:30 Adrian Newey said later of being fired from Leyton House that he had decided to go anyway because the team was run by accountants. Rarely can you make your mind up about a dispute upon hearing only one side of the story, but I think it's fair to say Newey has been proven to know what he is doing.

    Man i miss hobbs and varsha. They were 2 peas in a pod lol. Ive met them both a couple times at road america. Everytime they were both hanging out as friends together on their day off lol. 2 of the nicest guys too. Got hobbo to say clag for me 😂

    • @Spike-sk7ql
      @Spike-sk7ql หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. ESPN should have hired the magnificent trio of Varsha, Hobbs, and Matchett from NBCSN. NBC hired them from SPEED (Fox sports). ESPN really dropped the ball when they bought the rights to F1 from NBC. I actually wish NBC would have never bought them from Fox to be honest. At least Fox would send them to the races sometimes, and Windsor was always there. I miss the good old daya.😢

    • @Spike-sk7ql
      @Spike-sk7ql หลายเดือนก่อน

      And, oh yeah..... met all 4 of them at Indy, every year from 2002-2008 when you could actually afford to go to a F1 race in the US. I payed $250 for a weekend long grandstand seat at Indy, for every USGP at Indy, except for 06. That one was substantially less after the bs that happened in 05. Now, a Thursday night practice session ticket for the race at Vegas was $350. FOR PRACTICE!!!!!! General admission too! Oh... want to watch the race? That will be $600. Oh yeah, and there's really NOWHERE for you to actually see the track with your GA ticket. So you can watch it on our big spherical TV thing.
      Anyways.... Varsha, Hobbs, Maychett, and Windsor stayed at the same hotel I stayed at. Had a conversation with Hobbs about clag, and got him to take a picture with me, and my son who drew a big poster with a F1 car, bellowing smoke, with "KABLAMMO" across the top. Hobbs, and Matchett kept my sons attention for like 15 mins with toy F1 cars. When you say they are great guys, you aren't lying. Who else would play with a strangers kids for that long, making racecar sounds and everything.😂
      That is probably one of my favorite memories from when my son was young.

    About March's (or Leyton House, in the 1990 year book it was still called March) strong showing here and later at Silverstone: they had modified the floor of the car and the modification was a perfect fit for the tracks in France and silverstone. Plus BP, their fuel supplier, had managed to create a new fuel that breathed new life into the V8 Judd engines of the team. Also little side note: at the prior race both March failed to qualify for the race. Just goes to show how tracks can affect cars as we have seen this year as well

    Senna faster, i think he could be Much better in rally races than f1
    Senna only Speed and times
    Prost always beat senna
