The song has aged so well, considering it was written in 1967!
Psychadelic lyrics will do that.
Yeah.....more like in the 1600-es was written.......by some "random" person ....J.S.B. ........? DOES ANYBODY KNOWS WHO HE WAS ........? 😆😆😃
whatever "aging well" means in art
@@JulioLeonFandinho Means it always was f*cking great, and still is...
This stunning version of this timeless song chokes me up everytime, once again showing the incredible emotional and s I ritual power of music, mankind's greatest and most evocative art form.
The best version of the best song ever written, RIP Gary❤.
Agreed 👍
Gary was a real gentleman!
Like la Sinfonia and la suite number 3 of J. Sébastien Bach ?
Air on a G string IS Bach.
@@jacquesmichel3893Gerald Lloyd got it exactly right in his brief comment❤
Everyone that has reacted to this song/video, has the same reaction, they're overwhelmed by it. The Danish orchestra, Procol Harum, and Gary Brooker have combined to make a masterpiece
R.I.P. Gary Brooker 😢 His voice was like fine wine. Just got better with age
When this came out in 1967 there was another song that came out the same year that was like a book end to this song. Nights In White Satin by the Moody Blues. Would suggest you do the 1997 live in the NEC in the UK version
I agree with you. In 1967 when the song was released I was 13 and I'm still listening it because is a masterpiece. The Gary's voice has more tone now than back in the sixties. R.I.P. Gary
I never thought of that! You're absolutely right.
Yes! When I think of this song I also think of nights in white satin! Perfect!
The studio version of this song which came out in the 60's was great but this live version is stupendous as the orchestra and choir give it more depth. Gary Brooker's voice aged like a fine wine. R.I.P. Gary.
Reminds of how ( at least years ago ) you would hear a muzak version of it some public place. I think that died out and these days a restaurant for example has a music channel subscription to play original music recordings.
Oh, sorry to hear he died.....best to his wife and kids.
Reminds me of Sir Tom Jones and Bobby Caldwell
This song is timeless
Like classic music of J.S. Bach ?
One of the most beautiful songs ever made!
Do you know 'ever'?
@@user-ij5lc1kw8r yes, I know. And you?
Gary. booker was in his 70’s when he recorded this fantastic rendition of his 1960’s classic. RIP Gary and thanks for the music.
🇨🇦 Procol Harum was an English rock band, consisting of 2 guitarists, a drummer, an organist and Gary on the piano ! This was written and released in 1967 ! (You should watch the original video when you get a chance)
This outdoor concert from 2006, was hosted by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Procol Harum was their invited guests ! The Orchestra has over 70 Choir members and over 100 Musicians ! 🇨🇦
There's me thinking it was Smokey Robinson.
The Organist was Mr Mathew Fischer 🙂
@@Unvicimo as opposed to Mrs Matthew Fisher.?
Rest in Peace man. I first saw you sing this in 1967
1969 for me at a Toronto pop festival. Love Procol Harum!
@@CharCanuck14I know it sounds cliché but, those WERE the days.
From first hearing this song while walking on a beach road on a hand held transistor radio in 1967 to a full orchestra with high tech headphones. Nothing has changed, still one of the greatest songs in my lifetime.
ABSOLUTELY. The best band of all time in my opinion.
I loved this song in 67 and still love it.
Likewise. Happy memories
R.I.P. Gary Brooker🌹
The beautiful voice singing such an iconic song...
Gary Brooker is and will always be one of my favorite male voices
This song was a monster hit on the radio when I was a kid growing up in the sixties. This song was iconic.
Cold chills and watery eyes every time I hear this version.
This song will never grow old. ❤
There is a huge difference between music and the noise that is produced today. This song was music, is music and will always be music. Thank you Gary. RIP
The proverbial Grand Slam of getting it all right. Everyone getting it right.
Procol Harum is the name of the Band. Gary Brooker is the singer (he passed last year). This song was a hit in 1967 and this is an amazing version with the full orchestra. BTW I saw Procol Harum live in 1971 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Robin Trower was the guitar player.
I bet that was an experience to witness - some of the very best British talent on that stage !! 👍🏽
@@kentishmale1969 It was a double bill with Humble Pie who had Peter Frampton on lead guitar.
My favorite band for 60 years. This is probably the best version of the song ever recorded.
Now it's time for "Night in white satine" 😊
his voice got better and better the older he got. R.I.P.
The most amazing version of an amazing song, I get chills every time I hear it. Rest in peace Gary Brooker.
My favorite of all time.I listen to this almost every day.
An absolutely jaw dropping performance .. Rest in Paradise Gary Brooker
From the same concert they did a song called, "Conquistador". That is one you must react to.😊
To me this performance has everything perfect.. A mix of the best of cultures, classical, jazz, blues, soul. Psychedelic pop, visual all wrapped up in taste. Pure class.
Thank you for reacting to this great song ❤!
The greatest pop song ever written and performed...Personally life changing!
As good as his voice was in 1967! Very great selection and reaction! The orchestra made you just light up!!!
There are just some songs that transport you to a whole other existence, another plane and this is one of the BEST to do that. "We skipped the light fandango.."
He was a tremendous talent. He is surely missed.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choir is on another level with their repertoire and guest artist. Already have our seats reserved at the DR Konserthuset in Copenhagen for 2 concerts this upcoming summer season👍
I was in elementary school when this song came out. I loved it then and I still do. RIP Gary.
Gary Brooker was my hero! Fantastic singer. Procol Harum was the band and I still love the original. RIP Gary.
Artists are our key to beauty and truth.
One of the greatest voices ever in rock - and pop music. And one of the best pieces of music.
RIP Gary, so glad I got to see you play this with Ringo's Allstar Band in 97. Thank you. Jim
Welcome to one of the most iconic, powerful and just plain incredible songs of all time.
Musikalisch das beste was ich seit Jahren gehört habe 👍👍👍👍👍 Grüße aus Heisingen (Germany)
I knew Gary he was really a very good man rip brother you have such a good heart the beautiful person
The anthem of the 1960's...a piece of timeless magic that will never die....to all who lived through those breathless years ..an experience defined by this single statement song
This song is a gift from Heaven.
That song is work of art ❤
Such a fantastic performance. How could it be any better. The setting, the orchestra, the vocals, just incredible
I grew up listening to the Procul Harum and they always left me mesmerized...I was already dazed and confused, Bless the 60"s. Very nice presentation young lady...Bravo!
Beautiful song! It will never be old...and the orchestration is amazing!
This is the 60s. The Best of Rock and Roll!
Just a beautiful song by true artists
he only passed a couple of years ago.. always had time to sit and listen to this beautiful song. . .
Back when this first came to my ears, I was touched.
Still love to this day, over fifty yrs later.
Great piece.
It's basically a wonderful re-arrangement of JS Bach's Air on a G String
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!!!
The performance of this song reminds us that there are people in the music industry who have unparalleled talent and who really know their business!! This was professionally executed!!!
This was number 1 in the uk charts when I was born. It's still one of my favourite tracks & this live version is an absolkute classic!! Great choice!! :)
Impresionante, todo. Gary siempre estarás presente.
It sounds a little bit slower, because of the beautiful Orchestra, than the original that I used to hear all night long at the Main Gate, at Sweetwater AFS, Sweetwater, Texas, in the middle of 1967.... Loved, loved, all the 60's music !!!! These guys = Absolutely Killed It !!!!
Thank you, Emma, for putting this up !!!!
How can you enjoy such a masterpiece slicing and slicing and slicing it again into pieces ?
Agreed!
This song is as close to perfection as it gets because its core--its heart if you will--is rooted in classical music.
Amazing live performance this song is on another level with that clarinet just sends me tearful it's incredible live..!!!
I think that's an oboe.
Gary Brooker MBE (29 May 1945 - 19 February 2022) was an English singer and pianist, and the founder and lead singer of the rock band Procol Harum.
I grew up in the 60s best music and time to be alive
timeless song...
Best Version of the Best song Ever.
Elton John actually started his solo career AFTER Procol Harum was formed. So Elton sounds like THEM 😊
my favorite version of my favorite song
Such a great song!
Thank you for sharing this experience with us! You enriched our enjoyment of this classic.
Now you need to listen to A SALTY DOG!!! by Procol Harum
Thanks Emma, for bringing back the memories.
Fantastic intro by the Danish orchestra, playing the melody in the minor key, the usual extraordinary and powerful delivery of Gary, bull's eye comments of an absolutely stunning woman by the name of Emma on a song that just pierces my heart, again and again, to a release of tears - but " our tears were tears of joy" - ("A Salty Dog" by PH).
Gary Brooker’s voice aged soooo well. I would suggest listening to the studio version from 1967 so you can hear his young voice. Also the song Conquistador live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra from I think 1973 or thereabouts.
Recorded in 1971 and released in '72. It also has definitive versions of two of Procol's best, Whaling Stories and In Held Twas in I.
@@bookhouseboy280 Yes!
I had that album and we played it a lot. It was kind of cool to have the hometown orchestra playing with "famous people." Turns out that the band asked, and the conductor and manager said, "Yeah, that'll be fun."
Welcome to the music of my life ❤❤
One of the most beautiful songs ever written!
Excellent musical choice and reaction!
There are only about 40 songs that have sold over 10million copies. This is one.
Great music is always great music.
Wow..such a beautiful song
Incredible performance of a beautiful song. So glad you loved it too!
That Masterpiece takes me to a sock hop in junior high school:-)❤a slow Dance I'd never forgot
This is a song written and sung by a man who was drunk in a pub, who was rebuked by the bar maid. It's magical. Wait until you discover modern music. Mind blown.
Saw Procol Harum in concert with King Crimson and Roy Buchanan in '72
The first time I heard this song was when we were on a Troop Transport plane being flown to Vietnam. I fell in love with it. Also another song and group called Moody Blues did Nights in White satin came out around the same time.
Gary Brooker was admired by John Lemon and Paul McCartney before The Beatle became famous. He is also a roll model for Elton John, this song titled in Spanish "Con su Blanca Palidez" is still being played in Latin America radio stations today.
I knew you’d love this one …this is one of my most favourite performances and songs play it on my radio show often carry on being beautiful you Emma. 🙏🎶🎶🎶
The texture of his voice reminds me of Ray Charles. This is up there with the greatest songs of all time. RIP Gary.
The singers name is Gary Brooker.
Amazing song and performance especially with the orchestra.
absolutly one of the greatest pieces of music created, just brilliant!
this was the favorite song of the Dutch crime reporter peter r de vries, who was murdered in 2021
More than ten Dutch radio stations played his favorite song A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum during that memorial service.
sehr schön,ja das begeistert-wunderbar.
I grew up listening to this song often in the 90's, on a collection CD my mom had of the songs from her teens in the 60's and 70's. It's beautiful in it's orginal studio version and as amazing here live, sung by the same man, almost 4 decades later. The Danish National Orchestra is a fantastic one aswell.
Next year is the 100 year anniversary for The Danish National Orchestra, so might be worth checking out their scheduale for the year (2025) to see if you can get a chance to join in on the celebrations. 😊
Fabulous song and very nice reaction of a top beauty woman. 100% pleasure for ears and eyes guaranteed!
My older brother had this 45 record when I was 14 in 1967 and I still enjoy this song today.
I have loved this song since I was 10 years old in the 1960's. This is an incredible concert. Check out "A Salty Dog". Incredible as well!
Worth noticing who the lead guitarist is here. Rock god!
The original guitarist with Procol Harum ( after recording the original version ) was Robin Trower who played a prominent part in their first several LPs -- then went on to become a power trio bearing his name , with great success in the USA , filling large arenas . He's still playing in 2024 . Saw Procol Harum live in 1967 at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit .
You were loved Gary ✝️
Procol Harum was the name of the Rock band, Gary Brooker was their lead singer back in 1967 and in this 2006 Denmark concert. Great singer. Beautiful song.
I love them for 40 years you can never go wrong with Procol Harum
Yours is definitely my favorite reaction to this song and I have listened to dozens. Thank you!!!
😘
