"Conquistador" from the same concert, as well as "A Salty Dog" is amazing. Another one of my favourite Procol Harum songs is "Whiskey Train" (studio version) which also showcases Robin Trower's incredible guitar along with a massive dose of cowbell.

Whiter shade of Pale by Procol Harum. Love this song when I first heard it in 60's as a young kid growing up in the music revolution. P.H. was a fantastic English group with that unique sound and vocal. Glad you had chance to experience their famous pop tune.

In an interview, Gary mentioned fooling around on his piano and trying to play that Bach piece from memory. A few bars in, he realized he didn't quite remember it but kept playing to see where the melody would take him. A classic was born.
This song is from 1967 I believe. I always liked it I was an au pair from Denmark in Westport Ct. in 67 and 68. This version is great, it is from a castle that is located close to where both my grandparents lived. Have been by there many times.
This came from time when the young people of America took on the establishment and as a sixteen year old I was totally tuned in. Unfortunately we never saw it through, we need the young people of today to pick up the banner and make this world a better place. Though I am from the UK I have always supported and championed the Love and Peace generation I am 71 years old now but the message is as strong if not stronger today.

I imagine you have listened to the original by now if not please do. Whiter shade of Pale: with the continuous organ is so haunting and should be played in a play list with Mama's and the Papa's California dreaming, the Animals Rising Sun, and Simon and Garfunkles' Bridge over Troubled Water for max effect.. lol
His voice had hardly changed after 39 years since this track was originally released as a aingle. Vale Gary Brooker.
Wow! That’s incredible especially after all those years of singing. He must have had great vocal technique! Thanks for stopping by!
I've listened to them since the 1960s. My favorite album is called Grand Hotel.
One of the greatest Rock albums ever released!
Much of the chord progression is based on Bach's Orchestral Suite No.3 in D Major... 'Air on the G string'.
Oh wow! Thats super cool! Thanks so much for sharing! 😁
Greetings from Ridgefield, Connecticut!
