@J Munna you heard wrong or misinterpreted it. Its going to be SIMILAR to Souls, which was probably said to clarify that it's not gonna be a totally different thing like Sekiro. Similar (not identical) gameplay as a spiritual successor to the Souls games, not in the same universe and not under the same branding.

@@shadowkillz9606 while I agree that no 60fps makes it not perfect, I think BB promotes button mashing with the healing mechanic. Everytime I had trouble it was because I was playing like dark souls. Then I mashed RB some more and would walk through the fights lol

Martin seems perfectly capable of creating high fantasy-ish stuff considering the more distant, outlandish places in asoiaf like Asshai.
That, together with his ability to write really high quality characters, their motivations and schemes, extensive plots and riddles; is as good as it gets. On par with Miyazaki.
@@anderoo9260 I think Martin is a great writer but the problem is that his characters are too human, while the characters in the Souls games are not. They do not think, think, act or desire the same things as humans and I think that's in part what makes the souls games so great.

I just realized how smart it is to have the glowing tree actually be visible in the world. With more open levels, it will be a huge way to orient yourself because you'll always see roughly how far you are from the tree

DeS, DS, and Bloodborne default langauge was English. For Sekiro, the Japanese VA was the intended language to experience the game in due to its roots in Japanese mythology.

You know when Demon's souls first came out I remember thinking to myself ''Man wouldn't it be cool if we had a game that's kinda like this but a huge,sprawling open world rpg?'' and Elden Ring is actually just that. 12 years later my dream game is actually becoming a reality and this has me more excited than any of the previous games has.
Isn't demon souls open world?
As I see it the difference would be just the amount of dead space between points of interest. I am pretty sceptical about this game.
@@AtPrEdno, demons souls is not open world. you have to complete 5 linear worlds in no particular order. The only freedom you have is to choose the order and the ability to change the world at any time.
@@AtPrEd Demons Souls (and the souls series in general) are more linear than Elden Ring will be. You have the choice of walking to different places after the first level, but there are still objectives, passageways and overall "game-y" aspects that take you out of the experience a bit, for example the infamous "cannot open from this side" doors. That's not to say ER won't have any of these aspects but they'll likely be toned down or further integrated into the story to a certain extent, making your journey more immersive. Adding onto that, we have a summonable mount that can traverse great distances the player wouldn't be able to, and with much less effort, as well as what look to be encounters and dungeons spread throughout the world, like the giant bell creature or the caravan. All in all, there might be more downtime but it'd be for the sake of immersion and exploration. There'll probably be many more secrets to uncover in such a vast landscape and I for one fully trust FromSoftware to create the greatest open world experience possible.
You need to keep your expectations in check this is there first time making a truly open world game so dont put this game on a pedestal

I love how in contrast to the ancient dragons in dark souls being weak to lightning, in this game they wield lightning as their main weapon
Also worth noting that "Erd" is quite close in sound to "Urðr" - the name of one of Norns from Norse mythology. The Norns are very closely associated with Yggdrasil (often depicted as its guardians) and have a similar function to the Fates in Greek mythology.

A. If I can run down a host on horse that’s a huge turn on.
B. Large weapons may be made significantly more viable based off of horse mounted moveset. That can possibly both speed up their attacks and play around recovery with spacing.

Part of me who hate that, but another part would love it... Your horse is named Patches and has a habit of disappearing when you jumping across a ravine.
Well, maybe you can't do it every time. If you look closely, you can see a small whirlwind from where the horse jumps, so maybe they are marked as boost point from where you can like, haul your horse up the cliff.

If the "Shattering" is likely supposed to be a reference to Ragnarok (apocalyptic war of the gods) the Tarnished may play a role similar to Baldur. Baldur being a (mostly) immortal god of light whose return is prophesied at the end of Ragnarok to rule over the resulting new world (become an Elden Lord?). If we are "Tarnished" that would imply we were once shining, and obviously we've been resurrected and are effectively immortal.
This was some of my thoughts too!
Especially as (presumably the queens children and main bosses) are called the Golden Order. Are we Tarnished Gold? Do we have some connection to them?

Baldur isn't immortal, it's that the objects of the world swore not to hurt him but they forgot to ask mistletoe which gets shot through his chest and he gets blown the fuck out and sent to Hel and subsequently Loki, who is responsible for this gets captured and tortured. I forget why he returns from Hel following Ragnarök but I don't recall that the people of Gimli are immortal.

Dark ring refers to the dark sign obviously. Also another was dark race which refers to men in dark souls since they were spawned from the dark soul.
What I love about the lines of: "Emboldened by the flames of ambition...someone must extinguish thy flame" is that it makes me think of us as the player. We go into these games feeling hyped and ready to take on the world, and then we come across that boss which keeps beating and beating us. Will we quit the game and allow our flames to be "extinguished" or carry on?

Hesitation to play Elden Ring is defeat.
Part of the difficulty for me in past FromSoft games was the arcade "clunkiness" of tight spaces, limited verticality, etc. It'll be really interesting to see how this game evolves those limitations to work in a more open and free capacity.

This game got that vibes of all the soulsborne game that is mixed in 1 pot. got that Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro kind of feel in 1 game. I love it already.
That gothic magic place in the trailer gave me such a Bloodborne vibe, it's awesome

This is exactly why I have mixed feelings for the game. I loved the atmosphere/setting of the first trailer, but the new trailer feels like a mash of everything and doesn't really display its own identity. Still looking forward to the story and open world exploration though

It’s hard to explain how much from softwares games mean to me, I’ve been playing them since I was 11 and my best friend and I put thousands of hours into them. Sadly he passed away in 2019 and we were so excited to take on this new journey. But I will make sure to get the fullest experience out of it, for the both of us!

My biggest hope is that the combat is more Sekiro than traditional souls. Both because it was so satisfying, but also because the fights LOOKED so much more dramatic and tactical.
Don’t get your hopes up. Sekiro’s combat system only exists due to it having a single weapon and animations were fine tuned to work with it. There will be stealth though.

I think an interesting thing to think about is the silver/gold symbolism here. There a lot of golden things in the trailer, like the giant Yggdrasil tree, the "golden order", Valkyrie's armor, and even the logo itself. That makes it interesting that the player is Tarnished, since gold does not rust or tarnish. However, a metal that is commonly known to tarnish is silver, so I believe our Tarnished player character will be associated with silver. Indeed, we often see our player character wearing silver-colored armor and wielding silver-colored weapons in the trailer. It even seems that adversity is colored gold, while you (and maybe allies) are colored silver, seeing as Valkyrie, the werewolf knight, and the guy with a lot of hands all wear gold in some way. As of now, we know nothing about the lore, but I can't help but think that this silver/gold symbolism will eventually play a part in the larger story of the game.

I mean they showed that they can go entirely different way story wise with Bloodborne, but they also got high expectations for this game.
