Actually, it might have been easier to just break it up in the bathroom and then haul out the pieces, but I didn’t like the idea of small pieces flying around if I took a sledgehammer to it in the house. Really though, what’s the difference since it was near the beginning of the remodel in the bathroom. I ended up taking a sledgehammer to it anyway once it was in the bagster dumpster to save space and it didn’t really shatter into small pieces. The surround is no big deal to remove.

Absolutely. I soldered all joints that I didn’t have access to in the bathroom remodel.
