Somehow when times are tough and confusing, even if Hope loves Landon, she still feels much better talking to him and hanging out and sparring with him.... that's something deeper and harder to let go and more meaningful. Love them together! And she is clearly Rafael's 'Hope' for something better.
I just read that theory on tumblr and I believe it. Since Raf was stuck in wolf form, that could be the loophole... it might have saved him from losing his memories? Or Penelope's journal could be the key, assuming Alaric didn't burn that along with all of Hope's things. I think the latter is more interesting and also because it continues the love triangle in a way by having Raf remember Hope while Landon doesn't and Hope just gets closer to Raf in S2.
