    There is a small O-ring behind the screw,that you need to replace.I saw a video on here, where the guy showed the damaged O-ring.

    I had this today on my paint gun I had a warranty and took it back and got the same one again. Glad I got the warranty so I could get a new one. Mine has a regulator with it. Stuff you showed on this video it was happening today. I didn't take the front part off though. At least now I know you have to use a 13/16 wrench to take front part off.

    I just encountered the same issue this morning. Thanks for posting this as now my gun is fixed and ready to go again for the next coat.

    I was so thankful to come across your vid. When the air leak started I thought the gun was toast. But I fixed it and got my final coat on. Thank you!!

    Thanks for the info, I’m in the process of painting my boat and was getting drips all over the floor and also leaking air. I’m going to go give this a shot.

    Thank you for this! I bought a 2-pack kit with a 4oz and 20oz sprayer and the first one I tried had the drip issue! Looking forward to trying this fix!

      Ik it's been a while, but if you still have this issue, I just used Teflon tape.

    Appreciate you taking the time and showing this. I just had this issue with that same gun, I had sprayed quite a few latex paints through it and just moved to oil on a different project and as I was spraying, I noticed it dripping down the handle and the air valve getting stuck open. All the problems you discussed at once. Maybe I was too aggressive with cleaning but I'm going to try this tomorrow and hope it resolves the issue. Then I have to sand and redo that paint job. Thanks man

    Excellent!!! I had the same issue but with the smaller detail gun. There is no adjustment inside the valve body but a small fitting on the outside. It wasn't anywhere close to tight! I removed it and put some pipe dopw on it and all sealed up!! THanks so much!!

    Hey brother thanks for taking the time for showing this I literally just bought one of these and it came out of the box with this problem solved in five minutes

    I just bought one yesterday haven't taken it out the box yet. I've heard of the needle having grooves in it from poor quality. Might want to try and sand them out might get a better seal. Very helpful video.

    I wouldn’t use silicone on anything paint related.
    Marvel Mystery has been used in a pinch but old fashioned 3-in-1 with just a drop or two has been fairly innocuous and successful for me. Silicone goes for miles and plays mean games with a paint job.

    Nice fix. I had a nice gun but I never used it so I sold it to my brother-in-law. Wished I kept it.

    On my two HF paint spray guns, I completely removed the packing screw after watching this video. The back face of the set screw is machined concave. Behind it was a white nylon bushing and a small black o-ring, in that order, with the o-ring against the back of the chamber the needle comes in through. The back face of that chamber, unlike the back of the screw, is machined flat. So, I believe that these two small parts have been installed backwards at the factory in both of my guns. I think the black o-ring should go up against the back of the brass screw so that it sits in the machined concave depression. The nylon seat should go against the back of the chamber with the flat side against the back wall. So, when you assemble these into the gun, put the nylon piece in first with the flat side to the rear, then the black o-ring, then the brass set screw. That way, the machined concave surface in the back of the set screw will compress the o-ring inward against the needle.

      that's interesting... I need to look at mine and see if that's all that is wrong with them. But I went ahead and bought more expensive paint guns since I'm getting more serious about painting.

      WJ Handy Dad smart move lol. If you're still wondering about the purple demon, couple people said the o-ring was shredded. A simple o-ring could have solved the issue. I have better guns but bought this pos 10 years ago and wanted to pull it apart. With all the quick fixes I've come across, this may spray decent!
      Can I ask what gun you ended up getting, and why?
      Thanks!!!
      :)

      I found a set on Amazon that don't leak and have a primer, paint, and detail sprayer in 1 kit... it's what I've been using in my more recent videos. Still trying to learn how to paint "at home" effectively. I'm much improved but still learning. They are TCP Global but Amazon says they are "currently unavailable"

    Thank you! And a few Qs: the oil that you use for the air valve behind the trigger is that pneumatic oil (like the stuff for brad nailers)? Is that chamber, where the oil goes, separated from the airways or some of it can leak inside?

    Thanks just what I need.I have a Harbor freight pancake air compressor. Its a 3 gal 100 psi pancake will that work?

    • @WJHandyDad
      @WJHandyDad  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried to paint with one of those. They always catch my eye though and they seem like they'd be convenient since you can move them around easily. But I used a big Craftsman compressor when I painted

    • @frank_texas7400
      @frank_texas7400 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can but you need a moisture filter and the compressor will be on and off all the time

  • @RealityCheckThat

    The problem is most likely a damaged o-ring, in which case tightening the screw just reduces the amount of leakage. This video describes the problem and the fix very well - th-cam.com/video/3Alx3RfgDi4/w-d-xo.html

    what in the world do you think you're buying at harbor freight? you're buying cheap chinese crap that's poorly designed, half way assembled and barely functional for one use. If you want something that doesn't leak, includes directions on how to service the unit, works right out of the box, you're going to have to spend a little more than $10.
