My sunroof would not close. Tried to find anything online to diagnose the problem. Couldn’t locate anything so I figured it out myself. Made this quick to the point video.
This actually works! I took the cover and white part off(squeeze the whiteboard forward and pullout the back part generally, the metal clip is easy to break, so I go with the back end white plastic part( two arrows) after fully took part the white board, I use the back of screw driver and hammer the motor several times, make sure not damage the motor so I use the soft part of the screw driver just enough to give the motor some concussion, then the sun roof fully functionally😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
My sunroof isn’t working either. Switch does nothing. When I scan car codes with OBDeleven I get three faults all relating to sunroof button (implausible signal, mechanical malfunction and electrical error) when doing live scan and pushing button I see OBDeleven reads the position on switch so I’m guessing that would mean motor faulty? But it confuses me why codes read error with sunroof button.
my issue isnt the sunroof itself, mine is the sunshade..it slid opened. but now i cant close it, and when i press the button to close or open i hear clicking noise.
FREE FIX (HOPEFULLY!?) For those it may help, I got lucky here's my case... [TL;DR: I Hit the sunroof motor with a screwdriver and palm strike to free it] I have 2017 Audi Q3 with a Panoramic Sunroof Not Working (stuck in fully closed position). Issue & Symptoms: Glass stuck fully closed, Operating sunroof control switch yielded Zero Glass Movement and only a "click" (relay contact?) to each input. >First: I did the reset/relearn procedure, basically you the hold the switch closed for 30 seconds and allow the motor & roof assembly to exercise and learn its position. >>Note: had a series of clicks as if BCM was trying to command it to open/close/tilt but no glass movement thus hinting: motor unresponsive. This indicates to me switch is energized, motor •Underdash Fuse (#54) OK >>Second: Pulled the face cover off only. I could not confidently pull the white portion with the switch and pcb without damage, only partially pulled it down and sneaked a long screwdriver and placed it against the motor metal body portion and delivered a few firm palm strikes. Reassembled and it worked. Thanks Russell!

Did the motor make 3 faint clicks when trying to open the sunroof?
