Oh my goodness, my man you saved me from buying a motor. I tried so many tests, and I was about to give up. Found your video and tested my system the same way and it worked. So I have a switch problem. Thank you for posting!!!
You are the man for this! Saved me on memorial day. Dang roof opened on its own, and then would not close. All the shops are closed for the holiday, so I go to youtube and and after sifting through a mountain of guys not showing me anything useful, this video is what did the trick. Thank you! I can go to work tomorrow now! Awesome, thank you!
@@Flashback502 I felt like McGuyver (Richard Dean Anderson) with the wires and all. Worked great, and fast. I had to remove the spark plug though, because afterward it tried opening again, even though it was unplugged from the switch. Either way, I just repeated the wire trick, and then pulled the spark plug plug. No problem on my 1 hour commute to work today. Thanks again.
Thank you Flashback502! This video put me on the right track and you saved me a lot of money at a time when I cannot afford to have someone else work on my truck. After watching this video I figured out how to get to the guts of the switch, anticipating I would need to jump the switch as demonstrated. What I discovered was a very different setup from what is seen in this video. My switch was all one component with the wires soldered in place and no way to jump it. However, I realized the only thing wrong with the switch was that the plastic parts of the close button had broken. The copper contact was fine, so I used my screwdriver to push the copper contact down the same as the button was supposed to do, and the sunroof closed. Problem solved!
Did this to see if it was my switch or motor not working , turned out it was the switch not working but after using this method , all the sudden my switch is working again . Works for me 🤷
Great video! Helped solve the button issue with my 2014 Dodge Journey. When unplugging the button assembly, I did notice a little corrosion (small leak from sunroof). Some isopropyl alcohol and q-tips cleaned things up and got the button working for now, but your jumper solution solved the problem as well. Another TH-cam save! The dealership wanted to open up the headliner and replace the pulley system. This 10min solution saved us days and who knows how much money. Thanks again. Great video!

Hello, great vid. My 02 Z71 Chevy suburban yesterday sun roof opened fine, but when it tries to close, it seems like it is caught up somewhere. It closes with the button, but leave about five inches open the button sees it as closed. Based on the sound when I press the button.
Hope you still see this. I did what you said and it will not attempt to close it. I hear nothing at all so that makes me feel like its not a pulley issue because I should hear or feel the motor engage like when it opens, right? Although you do not mention MARK, YEAR neither MODEL, I thank you for the information. a lot of cars will close the windows and sunroof if you put the key in the door and twist the key to lock and hold it there, or some cars if you hold the lock button on the fob.
Liked -cuz it never dawned on me to do it. I didn't even have a bad sunroof switch. What I did have once is a switch that allowed me to open my sunroof, but not close it. I was freaking out cuz the weather was getting bad. When I read my manual though it said I had to open it fully and hold the switch in the open position to do a reset on it. So I crossed my fingers and open it fully and things worked out. It reset and works fine now. This could also work for power windows switches as well. I guess my question is. If I know nothing about electronics I start poking a piece of wire into various contacts bridging the connections of a wire harness will I damage anything?
So I'm guessing he's connecting power to each control of the roof? Auto open, auto close, open, close, moon roof open/close. So the one wire is always on power. The other jumps around to the control ur looking for
Stellar job on video. I have a 2003 Montero Limited. My sunroof stuck fully open 3 years ago. Opened fine and then it wouldn't budge to close a couple of hours later. I had one person pull on the glass as I cycled the button on and off because it would move about 1/2" at a time that way, but only if a person tugged forward on the glass as I switched the switch on and off in forward position. So I got it 98% closed, but it doesn't go upward and entirely seal fully closed. That was 3 years ago. What do you think the problem is?
Sounds like it is off track are something is blocking track or your pulley system is bad cable is bad. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
NOTE: If your switch works but it gets stuck before moving back, it might be the plastic bit that allows the door to open automatically. Vent the roof, shut the door all the way, and push the black plastic piece all the way down. That’s what my problem ended up being!
@ Clayrton Eifert I have the same issue and would appreciate if you can clarify a little. Which plastic bit are you referring to? Can you please give more details. 🙏🏻

Hi... the videos quite old but I’m praying you still see this... my sun roof is open but won’t close I hear it making a clicking noise whn I push for it to go bag but not forward.. I tried your trick but again only hear the clicking noise as if I’m pushing it back... can you give me any ideas please.
Sorry sounds like your pully system is jamed or broke or your window is off track, both require system to be repaired from the inside. Hope u get it fixed.
GR8 video unfortunately it didn't work on my 07 Envoy Denali, got a test light to see if theirs power none on the orange/ red wire that goes to the SF switch, the other Oranger wire to other things lights up, open the fuse box under the rear seat 20aqmp sunroof fuse lights up, damn the bad luck wondering if theres any other fuses for sunroof or just the one hmmm
It's pretty surprising that you suggested people to go out and get a "new" switch when it is most likely the case that the old switch has corroded since the contacts are copper. Clean those contacts underneath the button and you will most likely find that your switch works just like new again.
If none of your windows will work with master switch or door switchs, then you check your fuse for Windows. If not you may have a electrical problem. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
Do you know if this will work for a 2007 Cadillac SRX? I’m nervous about taking anything apart and not being able to get it put back together. I can open my moonroof but when I try closing it, it stops about an inch or two from actually closing all the way.
If it opens and closes except for last part, then your switch is not your problem your track is off or something may be blocking it. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
Probably an extremely stupid question, when I strip the old phone charger cord, there are several wires in there also covered. Do I strip them all and use them?
Hi I have a lexus is250 I’m trying this but that power switch it’s too different from mine, mine has 4 spaces bellow and 6 above, I don’t now where to put the clip to jump, I tried using the last one in the left below and the first above in the right, and it make sparks, I don’t wanna damage the computer or something.

Thanks a ton! Great video and it worked! Saved me, big time

Video done extremely well buddy. Now wish me luck. Didn't work, just burnt me fingers and probably caused more damage.
i have a 2009 Nissan Murano you know where should i do the bridge ?

Good man, thank-you so much for sharing this info!
Glad it was helpful!
NOTE: If your switch works but it gets stuck before moving back, it might be the plastic bit that allows the door to open automatically. Vent the roof, shut the door all the way, and push the black plastic piece all the way down. That’s what my problem ended up being!

What do I do if the switch works but no response at all
Thank you! My sunroof works when I use vent but when I press open it just moves a tiny bit and stops like it’s stuck or something.. will def try this!
@@vastwanderer Did it work?
@ Clayrton Eifert I have the same issue and would appreciate if you can clarify a little. Which plastic bit are you referring to? Can you please give more details. 🙏🏻

It’s the only solution and so easy. I was going to take out my liner and that would have been a big mess. Thank you, you are the man!
Man!!! Thank you te ganastes una caguama!!!
I will try this with Volvo's friend and I'll let you know if it worked for me or not later.
Hi... the videos quite old but I’m praying you still see this... my sun roof is open but won’t close I hear it making a clicking noise whn I push for it to go bag but not forward.. I tried your trick but again only hear the clicking noise as if I’m pushing it back... can you give me any ideas please.
Sorry sounds like your pully system is jamed or broke or your window is off track, both require system to be repaired from the inside. Hope u get it fixed.
What are those three switches for that are below the sun roof switch? Bought a used Chevy Suburban and cant find what they are for.
Thank you so much!!! That helped me ALOT!!!!

Sorry to hear, hope u get it fixes. please subscribe like and share and check our my other helpfull videos.
It's pretty surprising that you suggested people to go out and get a "new" switch when it is most likely the case that the old switch has corroded since the contacts are copper. Clean those contacts underneath the button and you will most likely find that your switch works just like new again.
Yea works sometimes and not others, do have video talking about using contact cleaner for switches. Thanks for helpful tip.
Good stuff right there.
I have a ? What would make All 4 of my windows not go down.. I cant stand not being able to open my dang windows. Thank you.

Lol you can just use 1 wire. Please subscribe & like and share if haven't already and check out our other helpful videos
