Hey guys! I've uploaded my written notes on my website for you all, so you can find them at this link: www.moaninc.co.uk/aeschylus/eumenides-summary . Hope this helps! x
I remember when I read this in undergrad and was so irritated by Apollo, who was until then my favorite Greek deity. The whole seed vs. vessel argument was so predictable and stupid, but historically accurate. I was so angered on the part of Clytemnestra, who was avenging her child's murder (and if we consider the Tantalus myth, the murder of two of her children). Girls just didn't matter, particularly to Athena. Poor Medusa! Great video, as always!
Thanks to your comment, I didn't have to waste 37 minutes of my day just to discover this was an emotionally charged feminist rant which misses the entire point of Greek mythology. You're doing great work and men everywhere commend you for it. 👍
All I can say is that I really appreciate and enjoy the way you express yourself about the play I am nearly laughing all the time as you get into such great detail about this play I love it you deserve five stars 🌟 for your performance please stay safe and healthy and prayers and blessings to you and your family love your Aussie family friend John 💚💛🧡💚💛🧡
Thanks so much for this. I actually got into Oresteia because of a guardian article comparing this tragedy to the tragedy currently unfolding Israel and Palestine.
She is the goddess of wisdom of her time. And in ancient times, it would be smarter to throw your lot in with the men. She would probably change the most if brought to modern time and what we consider as wise. Being misogynistic is one of the many ingredients of ancient stories. Even if I know it’s coming I still get pissed off every time. I think that is why I prefer updated versions of mythologies. When you bring the gods and goddesses to modern time and give them today’s mindset, there are less instances of misogyny. 😂
Hey, can I ask you something serious? Is it common knowledge in your world that Homer is basically put together using a bunch of building blocks that are repeated over and over and can be swapped around?
@@PANTERALEO56 Yes absolutely. if you’re someone in the scholarly world I’d be happy to chat with you as I might as I’m outside of that. But first please answer the question
@@DrSales-zl3kq Well if your referring to scholarly world as someone with a formal education lol then No I'm not qualified to talk to you lol I guess sorry I wasted your time. That said not certain which question you'd want answered since your conversations seemed limited to those with a higher learning 🤔
@@PANTERALEO56 That’s very funny. It’s also a lot of chitchat but no answer to a simple question. But then again I’m always met with silence on this channel.
@@DrSales-zl3kq I'm sure that could be frustrating but don't trip the content creator might be busy or maybe just doesn't wish to respond. Don't know what to tell you 🤷🏽♂️
Erica I have an idea for you. You currently have quite a few of us from the US and when you say, "use the link below to order" it takes us to UK Amazon. If you gave us an opportunity to choose UK or US you might be able to get your commission. Otherwise I have to just log into TH-cam Amazon and someone else gets your commission. I realized just this morning how many books I have ordered because of your site and you deserve to get the commission from the US also. I have no idea how to 'make this happen' however someone out here must be able to give us that info.

You really can’t read the seed argument without literally having to just take a moment to breathe 😳
