This is a nice re-design - a balance of old and new styling effects grafted into a sensual package. This makes up for a few of the clunkers you drew over the past couple of month.
@Mike TeeVee: I KNOW, right? I love TheSketchMonkey's channel, but you echoed my same sentiment about a LOT of these recent renders.. Kinda felt/looked lazy & uninspired- like most of these 2020 car designs today!
@@JabokChannel - Absolutely! Sketch monkey is a talented guy, but he does fall into some cliche styling designs that bother me - vertical inlet slots and rear defusers on everything. The IROC Camaro he did a while back almost made me unsubscribe.
@@miketeeveedub5779 @Mike TeeVee: Preach, Mike, PREACH!!! I'VE even done way better updated concept IROC Camaro sketches on paper without the fancy software than that! I also felt that IROC was lazy & "mailed in".. I couldn't agree more! Well, if Mr.SketchMonkey is reading this, this rear 3/4 view of the Porsche 944 is a great start, hopefully we can see more great ideas in future videos..
Why the tail lights are the same as the dodge charger 2019 ones?

Thought the same. Modern porsche tail lights are smaller an sharper on the end. But the redesign looks good.
Everything has light bar LED taillights nowadays not just the Charger yikes.

First thing that popped in my head too. He Chrysler'd it, and it seems all US companies have followed this trend... he took away the Porsche-ness or Euro-ness out of it and added a Dodge Dart/Charger/Challenger to it. He could've kept the original shape and still made it modern.
This is a nice re-design. It's also one of my favourite Porsches. Will you do a front view? and can you redesign the Mercedes Benz SLR Mclaren? It's really the ultimate forgotten sportscar or the Stirling Moss? would love to see those! Keep up the good work.

Many have tried to turn that turd into something better looking, like a ferrari.
But in the end , you can't turn a turd into something that don't stink

I have owned 944’s for 25 years, I love how you widened the rear and brought the box flares into the doors and added a nice sweeping effect to them. Gorgeous blend of modern with a foot in the past.
This is what I was waiting for, it gives some flashbacks when you did your past redesigns. It has the best balance of keeping it original and giving a modern touch
In 1988 I bought a 944 Turbo S in silver rose. That was a great car and I wish I still had it. This update you did is pretty fascinating. 👍👍
I think updating the 944 was going to be tough right from the beginning. It was certainly unique and had some odd but not necessarily displeasing lines. When you showed the 928 briefly, I thought that that would be a car worthy of your time. Growing up the 928 S4/GTS was one of my dream cars. However, when one is young, price tags mean very little.
I'm glad I stumbled onto this! It brought back tons of awesome memories of the funnest car I've ever owned. (1989 944T) What a beast of a car.

I have searched but can’t find .... any modern 1957 bel air redesigns of current Chevy models? With the return of the muscle car era. Could you re-imagine a Chevy bell air for today. Its gotta have the fins !!! Love your channel.

Ah the 944 Turbo. The German RX-7FC. I love this car--the best example of late 70's mid-80's styling!

@@ABurk2 ok that's fair. I got lucky with mine, got it for 1800 bucks. It was rough, but I got it ready in time to drive it to my highschool graduation in 2016
pollycapNick I’m worried that by the time I have the cash to get one their going to be “classics” or “popular” again and the price will go up. It seems like they have been going up in price the last few years
@@ABurk2 yeah that's true. I dont think it will be at the same level as air cooled 911s though. I think in the next 15 years the value will be around 10 grand for a well cared for NA, and 16- 25, for a decent turbo. And in the case of the na its probably going to stay low because they arnt fast, and in the Porsche community they are considered NARPs (not a real porsche)
Back in the day you didn’t have to be a multi millionaire to own a Porsche the 914 , 924 and 944 were attainable . Lovely restyle very nice 👍🏻
You can still get alot of Porsches brand new for sub 70k. Definitely not a starter car but not crazy wild

You are correct Porsche isn’t like Ferrari and Lamborghini not every car is a fortune but I would love to see the price equivalent of a 914 today that would be a Porsche I could afford !
It looks great! I own a 944 myself (87 base) and was wondering the exact the same thing. I think you did a great job bringing modern Porsche styling to this classic design. Would love to see you work your magic on the front too!
I feel the redesign vibe. Edgier. Bigger steam-rollers. I like that you kept the basic wheel design. Cleaner tail lights. Nice. Higher fenders. Excellent. Nicely integrated outer door handles. Missing, I think: the side windows are too tall still. Very 80’s still. lower roof-line plus higher shoulders would update that 80’s look. GTS bumps on the roof perhaps? What about verticals diffusers between the exhaust tips and license plate...which does take up quite a bit of space, unfortunately? Side skirt winglets? Looks a little clean in an ever more dimensional world of aero-treatments.
Seriously, it would be great if you do this for the Porsche 356 Coupe, specifically the 356A (T2). For me, it is simply the most beautiful Porsche ever made.

Love it! I have a 2001 911 (996) Carrera, in excellent shape with only 38,000 miles. I’ve seen some redesigns and upgrades on some and I’ve only put bigger more modern wheels and tires, as well as a modest rear wing on it, and updated the radio to a touch screen. And I must say that it looks way better with just those small mods. Would love to see you update one of these.

It's now a Viper from the 80's with modern tail lights.
I couldn't help but to keep seeing where the shape of the car curved from the side to the back in the spoiler, then look below it to see the new rear end being much wider than the spoiler suggested. It sort of made the back end look more flat from the fender to the rear end.
Very Nice redesign of a Porsche that never caught my attention. I think it will be awesome to see a redesign of a 959, specially considering that you like so much the new 911 which was the basis on which the 959 was built. If you read this THANKS!!!

The Lexus GS sedans from 1998 to 2005 were iconic and really launched Lexus into the sports sedan category. I'd love to see your take on a 2nd generation Lexus GS, the first Japanese sedan to kompete vith zee Germans.

Was pretty excited about this one as it's been my favorite car since I saw it for the first time when I was 15. And though I think your art and ability to redesign cars is amazing, i dont feel this car was done any justice. Like many other comments said, the rear looks way to dodge like and not very porsche like. Also wanted to mention that one thing that would be important to fix for a modern redesign is the common issue if the back hatch acting as a magnifying glass and melting things like plastic and ruining groceries. Another thing is porsche made a light for in between the tail lights though I think it was only available in certain markets.
Anywho, love your channel man, keep up the amazing work!

944’s are shockingly tiny in person, like I was genuinely stunned first time I saw one.
Try an Amx/3 or Amx/2 redesign, they're both good blends of the 70's era into American mid engine supercars that never got produced

I wish Porsche made more one off cars nowadays like this. I feel like everything is based on the look of the 911 Carrera, which is their flagship car.
I like the modified spoiler and a couple of body changes but otherwise the original looks much better. You're right though - you can't beat the Fuchs!

i think the rear windshield should have been redesigned too, there aren't curved windows anymore in the industry, they much rather include another window than curving glass, besides this it's a very good redesign, respecting the actual brand identity
