This boss is just insulting. I feel genuinely hurt when I lose to him. Like he spends almost all of the fight tripping over his own feet and falling on his ass and he accidentally becomes one of the harder bosses
ikr. out of all the bosses I fought in HK, this by far is the most aggravating because of how actually stupid Zote is in this game. Not to mention hearing him during gameplay is so damn annoying.
Most dream bosses move on after you defeat them. Lost Kin is freed, Maggot realises his failure, Soul Tyrant questions his actions, and Grimm finishes his ritual. Ogrim only does this after being beaten five times, since he refuses to believe the Five have fallen, but he still manages to come to terms with reality. Zote has such a giant ego that even after TEN defeats, even when Bretta is long gone, the bastard doesn't even bat an eye. He just blocks the knight from his mind and continues preaching his precepts to anyone who'll listen. I find that absolutely fucking hysterical.
@@gooselord7068 it's Bretta's dream for the first few fights, until she starts to doubt him. Then Zote takes over, explaining the stupidly high amount of damage.
It is, the most heroic one there is. The one and only Invincible, Fearless, Sensual, Mysterious, Enchanting, Vigorous, Diligent, Overwhelming, Gorgeous, Passionate, Terrifying, Beautiful, Powerful, Grey Prince Zote.
The best swordsman in the world doesn’t fear the second best or the third best swordsman. He fears the world’s worst swordsman. Because he can’t predict what he’ll do next.
@@fleacosmos66 Worst and weakest are pretty much synonym in this case. It would have made more sense if he said that a skilled swordsman fears the unpredictable or the unexpected.
@@mohamedbelbaali659 What the original commenter was trying to say was that the best swordsman can rely on having greater skill than the second or third best swordsman, but when facing an opponent that has no skill whatsoever it would be difficult to get a read on what they are about to be doing.
@@fleacosmos66 I understood what he meant but it didn't make much sense. Lacking skill or being bad doesn't make you ''unpredictable'' in fact in most case it's the opposite but whatever...
Wait, I thought that if you fought him enough eventually he one hits you? Or his max is 4 Masks per hit? In that case, just use Joni's Blessing + Lifeblood Core + Unbreakable strength and you're good to go. Honestly, I don't have the patience or the will to go through all of that.
@@gebdemedici Well, he does 8 mask at 10th fight I believe, he does 9 mask(Normally 1 hitting you) at 11th, which is the amount you normally need to fight him to get his gold statue. Each fight after that he will do one mask more dmg, until even full lifeblood set can't stop you from getting 1 shot. But after 11th it is not needed.
it was only till 4 round until Bretta finds out the truth about Zote and takes a leave, after that it is really Zote's mind where we fight, that's explain the ridiculous amount of damage as well.
Zote:A DUEL FIR MY PRINCESS the knight after the pantheon of hallownest:...............perish in the darkness of the abyss Zote:I SHALL DEFEAT YOU! me:zote don't *Zote *dies* Me:.......told ya so
Blood Lust I want quirrel's fight to not have any dedicated openings for attacks as quirrel is a skilled(?) warrior and he would be smart enough to not give any openings to the knight. You only get to attack him when he attacks you. Like maybe pogo jumping a horizontal dash attack or something. It would be a fun fight for sure
Man, zote fights literally a god before being a god (except if you finished the pantheon of hallownest) It is like making a tiktik fight against Nightmare king grimm or pure vessel
@@sninctbur3726 Thats actually what I did, put on the strength charm and the one that gives you more attack on low hp, went down to 1hp and had him down before you could even read all of his titles
Fun fact the base damage you do is 5. His max attack damage is 8. If you stumble your way to max zote with a unupgraded nail you will do less damage than him
I feel insulted whenever I lose to this boss. Zote absolutely sucks at everything, and that fact remains in his dream battle. Yet he still manages to win most of the time due to sheer power. Amazing job Team Cherry, suffering never felt so good.
He's only strong in the Dream World because that's how that bug lady you rescue (don't remember her name) pictures him. If you defeat him again, and again, and again in the Dream, the bug lady will become bored and realize how much Zote sucks and leaves Hallownest to search for her true love.
I love that this song is titled after the three things Zote lacks. He's a compulsive liar, even beyond his own knowledge of embellishments He's not all that easy on the eyes. And he's so pathetic it's hard to even hate him.
Zote is beauty, Zote is grace. It is Zote’s sacred duty, To fall on his gorgeous face. To face Zote, you are quite brave. *For you’re about to eat some shockwaves.*
I love that one of the biggest reasons Zote’s so damm hard to beat (apart from taking half your health bar in one hit, and then later the entire health bar) is that he has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. He’s one of the only bosses with no rhythm to his attacks to a point where even the mindless hellsake beasts can hold up a better rhythm than him. Especially how he rarely gives a warning on what attack he’s going to do like reeling back his sword for a bigger hit. He just swings it then and there and hopes for the best
Actually, everytime gpz falls and creates a shockwave, the music sorta gets blurred out. And he does this almost every 5 secs, so you really cant enjoy the music
The good news: Zote's only strategy is to become stronger, tougher, and faster, forgoing any real skill to his attacks. This is widely considered to be fake difficulty. The bad news: *He's really, REALLY good at it.*
Salve Vale How dare you speak this way about the invincible, fearless, sensual, mysterious, enchanting, vigorous, diligent, overwhelming, gorgeous, passionate, terrifying, beautiful, powerful, Grey Prince Zote?!
Remember that bug fix Team Cherry did to Zote where if he gets dream nailed in the Colosseum he becomes invincible? Team Cherry said Zote doesn’t deserve that power XD
I love how one of the funniest but ungrateful characters receives such an epic masterpiece as a theme while you are basically in a simp's fanfiction. Ok, but like *HOW DID BRETTA MAKE A STATUE OF ZOTE OUT OF PURE GOLD?!* That's freaking impressive.
@@dhanger3450 RANDOM THAT YOU POINT THAT OUT! It's cuz I'm a kinnie lmao Whole point of the lesson is that simps are powerful; stan them unless they're really creepy ✊💫
1. maybe near GPZ's size or shorter, but a bit taller than bretta 2. their eyes would be hollow yet show emotion, like how in some fan art we have the knight expressing joy 3. their cloak would probably shine, because dreamy hunk and finally four 4. *b i g c h o n k*
How finding this fight went for me. [Entering dream for the first time] "Okay, this is spooky." [Spotlight on Bertha surrounded by Zotes] "What have I stumbled into?" [Grey Prince Zote drops in] "Oh, this is gonna be good." [BGM kicks in] "This is the highest point in the entire game... Nay, my entire life. Nothing can surpass this level of artistic integrity. This is a passionate collaboration of many dreamers who sought to grace this world with something truly sublime. I shall never again look upon anything as magnificent as this, for nothing else can approach this vision's plateau."
You have to respect Zote for not letting his dream die, no matter how many times you kill it. All the other dream bosses let go of their dreams after you destroy them once. (Except for Ogrim)
Truth-how Zote percives himself, as if the boss form was how he always is Beauty-how Zote is percieved by the girl he "rescued" Hatred-THE PLAYER DURING THIS DAMN FIGHT
There’s a reason Zote is one of the last bosses in the Pantheons right alongside Markoth, Failed Champion, Nightmare King Grimm, Pure Vessel and Absolute Radiance. He’s one of the hardest bosses in the game also.
Beauty was marveled with Truth, his actions marveled her, She admired him, for she saw him with honor, Beauty was happy, for she was with a White Knight, But then, Hatred came, Hatred told the true nature of the Truth, He was hollow, for he only was duty, Beauty then followed Hatred, As she heard him, she was slowly bored of his lies and truths, Hatred and Truth battled, With Truth always prevailing, With the duels, Beauty learned something, She learned to only hear herself, For she need to earn love, Not hoping to find it And so she went, To find it, Truth then proceeded to continue his duty unburdened, Hatred then went to continue his hard and dificult road... By the Slowbro poet P.S.: He plays HK like shit, buts loves the game anyways.

Precept One: 'Always Win Your Battles'. Losing a battle earns you nothing and teaches you nothing. Win your battles, or don't engage in them at all! Precept Two: 'Never Let Them Laugh at You'. Fools laugh at everything, even at their superiors. But beware, laughter isn't harmless! Laughter spreads like a disease, and soon everyone is laughing at you. You need to strike at the source of this perverse merriment quickly to stop it from spreading. Precept Three: 'Always Be Rested'. Fighting and adventuring take their toll on your body. When you rest, your body strengthens and repairs itself. The longer you rest, the stronger you become. Precept Four: 'Forget Your Past'. The past is painful, and thinking about your past can only bring you misery. Think about something else instead, such as the future, or some food. Precept Five: 'Strength Beats Strength'. Is your opponent strong? No matter! Simply overcome their strength with even more strength, and they'll soon be defeated. Precept Six: 'Choose Your Own Fate'. Our elders teach that our fate is chosen for us before we are even born. I disagree. Precept Seven: 'Mourn Not the Dead'. When we die, do things get better for us or worse? There's no way to tell, so we shouldn't bother mourning. Or celebrating for that matter. Precept Eight: 'Travel Alone'. You can rely on nobody, and nobody will always be loyal. Therefore, nobody should be your constant companion. Precept Nine: 'Keep Your Home Tidy'. Your home is where you keep your most prized possession - yourself. Therefore, you should make an effort to keep it nice and clean. Precept Ten: 'Keep Your Weapon Sharp'. I make sure that my weapon, 'Life Ender', is kept well-sharpened at all times. This makes it much easier to cut things. Precept Eleven: 'Mothers Will Always Betray You'. This Precept explains itself. Precept Twelve: 'Keep Your Cloak Dry'. If your cloak gets wet, dry it as soon as you can. Wearing wet cloaks is unpleasant, and can lead to illness. Precept Thirteen: 'Never Be Afraid'. Fear can only hold you back. Facing your fears can be a tremendous effort. Therefore, you should just not be afraid in the first place. Precept Fourteen: 'Respect Your Superiors'. If someone is your superior in strength or intellect or both, you need to show them your respect. Don't ignore them or laugh at them. Precept Fifteen: 'One Foe, One Blow'. You should only use a single blow to defeat an enemy. Any more is a waste. Also, by counting your blows as you fight, you'll know how many foes you've defeated. Precept Sixteen: 'Don't Hesitate'. Once you've made a decision, carry it out and don't look back. You'll achieve much more this way. Precept Seventeen: 'Believe In Your Strength'. Others may doubt you, but there's someone you can always trust. Yourself. Make sure to believe in your own strength, and you will never falter. Precept Eighteen: 'Seek Truth in the Darkness'. This Precept also explains itself. Precept Nineteen: 'If You Try, Succeed'. If you're going to attempt something, make sure you achieve it. If you do not succeed, then you have actually failed! Avoid this at all costs. Precept Twenty: 'Speak Only the Truth'. When speaking to someone, it is courteous and also efficient to speak truthfully. Beware though that speaking truthfully may make you enemies. This is something you'll have to bear. Precept Twenty-One: 'Be Aware of Your Surroundings'. Don't just walk along staring at the ground! You need to look up every so often, to make sure nothing takes you by surprise. Precept Twenty-Two: 'Abandon the Nest'. As soon as I could, I left my birthplace and made my way out into the world. Do not linger in the nest. There is nothing for you there. Precept Twenty-Three: 'Identify the Foe's Weak Point'. Every foe you encounter has a weak point, such as a crack in their shell or being asleep. You must constantly be alert and scrutinising your enemy to detect their weakness! Precept Twenty-Four: 'Strike the Foe's Weak Point'. Once you have identified your foe's weak point as per the previous Precept, strike it. This will instantly destroy them. Precept Twenty-Five: 'Protect Your Own Weak Point'. Be aware that your foe will try to identify your weak point, so you must protect it. The best protection? Never having a weak point in the first place. Precept Twenty-Six: 'Don't Trust Your Reflection'. When peering at certain shining surfaces, you may see a copy of your own face. The face will mimic your movements and seems similar to your own, but I don't think it can be trusted. Precept Twenty-Seven: 'Eat As Much As You Can'. When having a meal, eat as much as you possibly can. This gives you extra energy, and means you can eat less frequently. Precept Twenty-Eight: 'Don't Peer Into the Darkness'. If you peer into the darkness and can't see anything for too long, your mind will start to linger over old memories. Memories are to be avoided, as per Precept Four. Precept Twenty-Nine: 'Develop Your Sense of Direction'. It's easy to get lost when travelling through winding, twisting caverns. Having a good sense of direction is like having a magical map inside of your head. Very useful. Hidden Precept: 'Don't let comment character limits stop you' Instead post your precepts under each other.
Precept Thirty: 'Never Accept a Promise'. Spurn the promises of others, as they are always broken. Promises of love or betrothal are to be avoided especially. Precept Thirty-One: 'Disease Lives Inside of Dirt'. You'll get sick if you spend too much time in filthy places. If you are staying in someone else's home, demand the highest level of cleanliness from your host. Precept Thirty-Two: 'Names Have Power'. Names have power, and so to name something is to grant it power. I myself named my nail 'Life Ender'. Do not steal the name I came up with! Invent your own! Precept Thirty-Three: 'Show the Enemy No Respect'. Being gallant to your enemies is no virtue! If someone opposes you, they don't deserve respect or kindness or mercy. Precept Thirty-Four: 'Don't Eat Immediately Before Sleeping'. This can cause restlessness and indigestion. It's just common sense. Precept Thirty-Five: 'Up is Up, Down is Down'. If you fall over in the darkness, it can be easy to lose your bearing and forget which way is up. Keep this Precept in mind! Precept Thirty-Six: 'Eggshells are brittle'. Once again, this Precept explains itself. Precept Thirty-Seven: 'Borrow, But Do Not Lend'. If you lend and are repayed, you gain nothing. If you borrow but do not repay, you gain everything. Precept Thirty-Eight: 'Beware the Mysterious Force'. A mysterious force bears down on us from above, pushing us downwards. If you spend too long in the air, the force will crush you against the ground and destroy you. Beware! Precept Thirty-Nine: 'Eat Quickly and Drink Slowly'. Your body is a delicate thing and you must fuel it with great deliberation. Food must go in as fast as possible, but fluids at a slower rate. Precept Forty: 'Obey No Law But Your Own'. Laws written by others may inconvenience you or be a burden. Let your own desires be the only law. Precept Forty-One: 'Learn to Detect Lies'. When others speak, they usually lie. Scrutinise and question them relentlessly until they reveal their deceit. Precept Forty-Two: 'Spend Geo When You Have It'. Some will cling onto their Geo, even taking it into the dirt with them when they die. It is better to spend it when you can, so you can enjoy various things in life. Precept Forty-Three: 'Never Forgive'. If someone asks forgiveness of you, for instance a brother of yours, always deny it. That brother, or whoever it is, doesn't deserve such a thing. Precept Forty-Four: 'You Can Not Breathe Water'. Water is refreshing, but if you try to breathe it you are in for a nasty shock. Precept Forty-Five: 'One Thing Is Not Another'. This one should be obvious, but I've had others try to argue that one thing, which is clearly what it is and not something else, is actually some other thing, which it isn't. Stay on your guard! Precept Forty-Six: 'The World is Smaller Than You Think'. When young, you tend to think that the world is vast, huge, gigantic. It's only natural. Unfortunately, it's actually quite a lot smaller than that. I can say this, now having travelled everywhere in the land. Precept Forty-Seven: 'Make Your Own Weapon'. Only you know exactly what is needed in your weapon. I myself fashioned 'Life Ender' from shellwood at a young age. It has never failed me. Nor I it. Precept Forty-Eight: 'Be Careful With Fire'. Fire is a type of hot spirit that dances about recklessly. It can warm you and provide light, but it will also singe your shell if it gets too close. Precept Forty-Nine: 'Statues are Meaningless'. Do not honour them! No one has ever made a statue of you or I, so why should we pay them any attention? Precept Fifty: 'Don't Linger on Mysteries'. Some things in this world appear to us as puzzles. Or enigmas. If the meaning behind something is not immediately evident though, don't waste any time thinking about it. Just move on. Precept Fifty-One: 'Nothing is Harmless'. Given the chance, everything in this world will hurt you. Friends, foes, monsters, uneven paths. Be suspicious of them all. Precept Fifty-Two: 'Beware the Jealousy of Fathers'. Fathers believe that because they created us we must serve them and never exceed their capabilities. If you wish to forge your own path, you must vanquish your father. Or simply abandon him. Precept Fifty-Three: 'Do Not Steal the Desires of Others'. Every creature keeps their desires locked up inside of themselves. If you catch a glimpse of another's desires, resist the urge to claim them as your own. It will not lead you to happiness. Precept Fifty-Four: 'If You Lock Something Away, Keep the Key'. Nothing should be locked away for ever, so hold onto your keys. You will eventually return and unlock everything you hid away. Precept Fifty-Five: 'Bow to No-one'. There are those in this world who would impose their will on others. They claim ownership over your food, your land, your body, and even your thoughts! They have done nothing to earn these things. Never bow to them, and make sure to disobey their commands. Precept Fifty-Six: 'Do Not Dream'. Dreams are dangerous things. Strange ideas, not your own, can worm their way into your mind. But if you resist those ideas, sickness will wrack your body! Best not to dream at all, like me. Precept Fifty-Seven: 'Obey All Precepts'. Most importantly, you must commit all of these Precepts to memory and obey them all unfailingly. Including this one! Hmm. Have you truly listened to everything I've said? Let's start again and repeat the 'Fifty-Seven Precepts of Zote'
some of these are just funny, but some other are in fact really good advices if they are seeing from an realistic and optimism perspective like keep your home tidy, forget your past, choose your own fate
I like how grey prince zotes theme shows chaos to show how bretta is trying to see good in zote, and how its so frantic to show grey prince zotes movements, but it also seems slightly honourable and calm at the beginning
I just came from a video with a bunch of people arguing about if the new Sonic Forces theme or Mario Odyssey theme is better, then there's just me sitting in the corner listening to the amazing Hollow Knight music ;)
I need a Hollow Knight mod that makes most if not all of Zote's precepts actually possible to follow. Like being able to make your nail more powerful if your opponent is stronger than you, or not being able to go lower than one Mask in health because you've decided not to lose.
First time hearing this i was like "meh The Broken Vessel, The Radiant was more epic" after getting ass kicked by Zote ( 2nd fight ) for 3 times hearing this over and over again and i finally getting the feeling how epic this song match the fight, and how much admiration that Bretta has for Zote.
Definitely one of the most hardest bosses I faced. His attacks were way too unpredictable due to his clumsiness. Most bosses you can learn and figure out the attack pattern. But this guy? Almost all of his attacks are the same and can change it while doing them, so you cant tell.
Is this a reference to the third playable character never added to the game? Because the presentation image of this kickstarter peak was the shadow of zote
I love how a boss who's existence is essentially pointless besides to make your gameplay more challenging has one of the best themes in the entire game.
Pale king: oh boy sure the knight is right now trying to erradicate the infection Meanwhile the knight: *I'm gonna ruin this girl's whole fanfic TEN TIMES*
I feel like bretta is some sort of spoiled princess, but at the same time not because we all dreamed about us being royalty at least one time in our life. “Omg the Knight is like so cool and he’s a herooooo, he saved me from death!” *5 hours later* Knight: Wonder what she’s dreaming about *Grey prince zote slaughtering knight whilst getting fanned by many other zote’s acting like the zote queen.*
Bravo Team Cherry, you managed to accurately portray the mind of a bad fanfic writer. Edit: And how bad reading their fanfiction is because fighting this boss four times feels like I'm dying inside.
Old proverb from the great nailmasters: Don't laugh at someone your eye didn't saw fighting... Don't laugh at the master that isn't there, watching... Don't laugh at the unexperienced of the pale wield... Because if he doesn't fucking know his doing... You sure as hell don't
The thing that will never fail to amaze me is that very often in fiction characters with a big ego are actually deeply insecure about themselves and know full well how weak and pathetic they actually are. But Zote has such an enormous, unfathomable, gargantuan ego he actually BELIEVES his own lies about himself. And said ego somehow allowed him to literally break in the fucking Godhome through sheer willpower. Also, this theme is fraggin' amazing.
Man his chaotic unpredictable fighting “style” just throws me off. Almost none of his attacks have a set duration or requirement until they’re finished, so he can just kind of feint three different attacks in a row and throw shockwaves everywhere. I mean one time he started doing his signature swinging his nail wildly while charging move and I went to pogo on him but he immediately fell on his face as he started, and as a result my downstroke missed causing ME to fall on my face.
It’s funny how he sees himself as a high and mighty knight yet he nearly got himself killed and is so weak that the Hunter thought to himself that it’s not even worth killing him..yet he has an epic boss theme and despite being chunky is fast as hell
I would’ve left Brett’s to die if in the end she would dream of my certain death, AGAINST ZOTE. I remember when I thought zote was the knight’s cousin, and I save him out of kindness because he seemed important since he looked like me. I save him, and then he lies to everyone about how he defeated a humongous beast even though I did that and saved him. The second time I save him I tried to ignore him but I actually wanted to know what crap he wanted to say to me after I save him. So I save him, more crap about I didn’t need saving and “I know the way out, but I’m not telling or helping you” Coliseum time, I GET TO FIGHT HIM. You don’t understand how happy I was for everyone in the crowd to see how weak he was as I literally treat him like a volley ball. *Rip Tiso btw* But then beretta starts dreaming or the statue I don’t really remember but, I remember very well how I literally died to Grey prince zote 4 times in a row and I kept on using a complete different charm set up. I remember using Grubberfly elegy and the quick slash. Shape of unn pretty sure and that’s it. But if I had known Zote would’ve ended up being such a pain in the ass I would’ve just annihilated him during the coliseum, even though I did annihilate him, I didn’t get to kill him. I got so hype when tiso said these words exactly, “Hey, this shell does something you won’t even believe!”
I know the comment is 2 years old but after you save zote for the first time you can’t let him die in the second encounter,he just appears in the town later if you ignore him
The knight:"truth"-he is a person of ideals, and lives sorely for his mission, all his actions being dictated by it. Bretta:"beauty"-seems to be obssesed with finding a partner,be it the knight (empty shell) or zote (self-centered). Zote:"hatred"-he is probably vengeful, seeing that he starts spewing lies about you after his defeat, and his entire mission may be a revenge against his father.
If the sheer power of bretta's fangirling managed to make a *literal god* than imagine of she continued simping for ghost even when he becomes the shade lord
This might be one of my favorite moments int he game. There is something really poetic and beautiful about fighting Zote, and then fighting Zote's self perception. This is what he wants to be- and his will is a hell of a challange. There is a beauty about it. He reminds me of don kishot in that.
it would be actually really funny if someone did this, like just picture that, Zote trying to hit anything with a nail from shellwood, or randomly tripping while walking and i wonder if player could purchase any upgrades, because Zote can be like ''no i don't want/need anything'' or items that are just a little out of reach for entire game with all abilities just to be there and make you angry tho i honestly feel bad for Zote, like, from game dialouge we know that he had some rough childhood
I feel like zote and tf2's solider would make good friends over their ridiculous stories of war stratagey. Zote with his precepts, and Solider with sun tzu inventing fighting.
The fact is, you can tell that Zote feels like a beginner Smash player who got Mr. Game and Watch. He's basically just pressing random buttons (aside from down-b) but it doesn't matter because he has such a good character.
It's ironic that Cloth, Quirrel, Tiso,... died and Zote - the most pathetic character survived, his fantasy can never be broken no matter how much you beat him up. Dreamnailing Zote reveals interesting things about him. I wonder if he will make an appearance in Silksong.

So we arent hust gonna talk about the "speaking truthfully" precept? Not hypocritical at all?
@@Hiatuuss Most of his precepts are hypocritical of him, and that's when they don't contradict each other.
WHEN THAT DONT WORK USE MORE GUN
Most dream bosses move on after you defeat them. Lost Kin is freed, Maggot realises his failure, Soul Tyrant questions his actions, and Grimm finishes his ritual. Ogrim only does this after being beaten five times, since he refuses to believe the Five have fallen, but he still manages to come to terms with reality.
Zote has such a giant ego that even after TEN defeats, even when Bretta is long gone, the bastard doesn't even bat an eye. He just blocks the knight from his mind and continues preaching his precepts to anyone who'll listen. I find that absolutely fucking hysterical.
thats why i love him. he never gives up.

Nice.

Both of those games dosen't have a music thats actually worth to argue about honestly.
@@pelieskola5708 lol no. hollow knights is better but odyssey does have a good soundtrack
@@nagisashingetsu4274 i can believe that. It just isn't my style i guess. any mario game in general hasn't interested me from any point of wiew.
@@pelieskola5708 of course its your opinion i wasnt trying to offend you just say that odyssey does also have good music
1st boss of this update: fighting the last of the 5 great knights
2nd boss: chomky boi with a S T I C C
Ehem, that "stick" is Life Ender, a nail of great renown
I need a Hollow Knight mod that makes most if not all of Zote's precepts actually possible to follow. Like being able to make your nail more powerful if your opponent is stronger than you, or not being able to go lower than one Mask in health because you've decided not to lose.
*steel soul mode*: am i a joke to you?
@@JC_JN4 Steel soul is litterally the opposite of what was described here
First time hearing this i was like "meh The Broken Vessel, The Radiant was more epic" after getting ass kicked by Zote ( 2nd fight ) for 3 times hearing this over and over again and i finally getting the feeling how epic this song match the fight, and how much admiration that Bretta has for Zote.
Azrael But sadly, the admiration is all a lie. What a happy couple.
Definitely one of the most hardest bosses I faced. His attacks were way too unpredictable due to his clumsiness.
Most bosses you can learn and figure out the attack pattern. But this guy? Almost all of his attacks are the same and can change it while doing them, so you cant tell.
He's the definition of "If I don't know what I'm doing, YOU DON'T EITHER"
This music sounds like a trailer theme for the sequel. At least it’s how it feels for me.
How did you know theres a sequel lol
SILKSO- wait wrong game.
Is this a reference to the third playable character never added to the game? Because the presentation image of this kickstarter peak was the shadow of zote
Hollow Knight: Truth, Beauty, and Hatred edition-
Zoteboat Confirmed!?!?!?!?
I love how a boss who's existence is essentially pointless besides to make your gameplay more challenging has one of the best themes in the entire game.
Pale king: oh boy sure the knight is right now trying to erradicate the infection
Meanwhile the knight: *I'm gonna ruin this girl's whole fanfic TEN TIMES*
If you're on your 10th time battling him, I have only one piece of advice for you
Listen to the 57 Precepts of Zote
The first one will help the most
ouch that hurts
Oooooooor...
GIT GUD!
You want a tip for his 10th and final form?
Use Fury of the Fallen because one hit from Zote makes you much stronger.
1:26 This part here is just gorgeous. It feels like brass and strings are having a conversation. So operatic, I love it ❤
Glad to see someone with the same thoughts, that part is what really captivates me, it is sort of what made me come here in the first place.
WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS MUSIC IS...
The rhythm in 1:26 is really synchronized with the title if you sing it quickly.
*Mindblown*
Stop I can’t stop hearing it, please delete this comment
Mr. Larkin, you are absolutely incredible. Cheers to more amazing music like this.
I feel like bretta is some sort of spoiled princess, but at the same time not because we all dreamed about us being royalty at least one time in our life.
“Omg the Knight is like so cool and he’s a herooooo, he saved me from death!”
*5 hours later*
Knight: Wonder what she’s dreaming about
*Grey prince zote slaughtering knight whilst getting fanned by many other zote’s acting like the zote queen.*
Bravo Team Cherry, you managed to accurately portray the mind of a bad fanfic writer.
Edit: And how bad reading their fanfiction is because fighting this boss four times feels like I'm dying inside.
I love how one of the most epic tracks in the game is used for a literal meme fight
Old proverb from the great nailmasters:
Don't laugh at someone your eye didn't saw fighting...
Don't laugh at the master that isn't there, watching...
Don't laugh at the unexperienced of the pale wield...
Because if he doesn't fucking know his doing...
You sure as hell don't

EEE, KALEP
BEHOLD, ZOTE THE ACTUALLY MIGHTY GREY KNIGHT.
but he ain't need no steroids...
Make your dreams become...actually fucking swoll, holy crap, 3 masks?
fight him even more and he gets more swole until the point where ya need all the masks in the game to survive a SINGLE HIT
If you kill him enough he’ll start to deal a hundred masks
No one will do it, though
The thing that will never fail to amaze me is that very often in fiction characters with a big ego are actually deeply insecure about themselves and know full well how weak and pathetic they actually are. But Zote has such an enormous, unfathomable, gargantuan ego he actually BELIEVES his own lies about himself. And said ego somehow allowed him to literally break in the fucking Godhome through sheer willpower.
Also, this theme is fraggin' amazing.
you vs the guy she told you not to worry about
Man his chaotic unpredictable fighting “style” just throws me off.
I believe Zote represents what it means to be an ego-driven entity.
It’s funny how he sees himself as a high and mighty knight yet he nearly got himself killed and is so weak that the Hunter thought to himself that it’s not even worth killing him..yet he has an epic boss theme and despite being chunky is fast as hell
So zote is weaker than a maggot, yet grey prince zote is stronger than the radiance (not absolute radiance).....wow
even godseeker respect it less by watching at the knight and calling him false god, and dyet still dream about the eternal order.
So I save him, more crap about I didn’t need saving and “I know the way out, but I’m not telling or helping you”
Coliseum time, I GET TO FIGHT HIM.
I know the comment is 2 years old but after you save zote for the first time you can’t let him die in the second encounter,he just appears in the town later if you ignore him
I love how this fandom both despises and loves zote at the same time lol
The knight:"truth"-he is a person of ideals, and lives sorely for his mission, all his actions being dictated by it.
Bretta:"beauty"-seems to be obssesed with finding a partner,be it the knight (empty shell) or zote (self-centered).
Zote:"hatred"-he is probably vengeful, seeing that he starts spewing lies about you after his defeat, and his entire mission may be a revenge against his father.
"what a beautiful track that surely is for a well written and interesting character"

Nice profile
it would be actually really funny if someone did this, like just picture that, Zote trying to hit anything with a nail from shellwood, or randomly tripping while walking
and i wonder if player could purchase any upgrades, because Zote can be like ''no i don't want/need anything''
or items that are just a little out of reach for entire game with all abilities just to be there and make you angry
tho i honestly feel bad for Zote, like, from game dialouge we know that he had some rough childhood
That would be coolsong
"If i don't know what I'm doing, then you sure as sh!t don't either"
As I was playing the game, I never expected Bretta to break my heart the way she did :o

Zote cucked the Knight big time. She even made a whole twice-life-sized pure gold statue of him
I feel like zote and tf2's solider would make good friends over their ridiculous stories of war stratagey.
"You aren't doing it wrong if nobody knows what you are doing"
It's ironic that Cloth, Quirrel, Tiso,... died and Zote - the most pathetic character survived, his fantasy can never be broken no matter how much you beat him up. Dreamnailing Zote reveals interesting things about him. I wonder if he will make an appearance in Silksong.

The prince, his power divine
His love, soon it will be mine
I know all of his stories
I am devoted to his glory

My foes, too scared to fight they shall die
A princess shall have her knight
I shall protect her with all my might
Terrifying, beautiful, powerful
Gorgeous, passionate, overwhelming
Diligent, vigorous, enchanting
I'm the best, I am strong
Go my Zotelings!

If you do he will stab you in the face
He has bested creatures far and wide
You best step off or you will die

Grey prince, once you were so strong
But now, everything feels wrong
The tales I see in my dreams
It seems that they fail when you pull at the seams

The power of Life Ender
My queen, shining serene
Inspires this scene, inspires her defender
