I think this album exceeded most people's expectations. Mikael is better than ever on here. This will be one of their top-tier albums and I'm grateful we got to see some "old Opeth" again.
@@SApcGUY I was blown away , but don’t know if I would say it exceeded any expectations because I just always assume greatness form Opeth and they always deliver, incredible album, the composition is so masterful it exceeds music and becomes an art, they create experiences not just music , definitely their best album since watershed , but not their best , in a ranking of their 14 albums i would put it somewhere in the 5th or 6th spot 🤘🏻
I love this album. It grows the more you listen to it. Probably their best since Ghost Reveries tbh. Love the Tom G Warrior style Heeeyys!!! on a few of the tracks aswell lol
@@petegreenfield3645 yeah is a great album , a blend of all Opeth eras , very progressive but with harsh vocals again , some Metallic riffs, and just master level compositions , not the type of album you head bang to but just put in head phones and enjoy the ride 🤘🏻
@@metalmusicmeltdown First listen i'm very impressed J, might be the best album since Blackwater Park. 9.5/10 and already a banker for top 5 year end list.
@@petegreenfield3645 yeah it’s a insanely good album , will be in my top 5 for sure , may even take number 1 , it’s a strong contender up there with Fracture , Evergrey and a couple others 🤘🏻
Sorry, I heared the first 5 tracks 6 times or so, and I cannot remember them. It's not catchy, and I'm very disappointed. Very well played and arranged, but for me too chaotic, too different, too progressive - simple too much. For february I have a ticket for Berlin, and I think, I shall sell it. That would me make very sad! I love Opeth since The Ghost Of Perdition. I love the older albums much more, were more metal, I think...
@@peterwalliste8232 people hear things differently, there’s never a right or wrong answer just personal preference, I really enjoyed the new album, although I don’t think it’s their best I still prefer albums like black water Park, Still Life, Watershed , Ghost Reveries but I still thinks it’s a great album ranking somewhere in middle of their discography 🤘🏻

Great review! What a comeback album from Opeth. A great mix of old and new from what I gathered.
Yeah man , very strong album , all eras are represented here in a well executed concept album , I don’t think there best album ever but still great
Time will tell, but this might be my favourite album of all time.
Wow, nice there’s no denying it’s an incredible album 🤘🏻
Great review Jeremy, not had a chance to hear it yet but I'll put that right this weekend for sure. Everyone seems positive about it, so happy days!
