Nice video! One thing that would help to make your videos better is if you could display all the numbers you mention on the screen. So the battery sizes, weigths, ranges would be great to see in some kind of table on the screen instead of just by audio.
I'd seriously consider the Seagull. It's a sector of the market that's totally ignored in the UK. A small, basic city car that will do the occasional longer trip would sell well here. Not everybody needs or wants a £50k+ rocket ship.
I'd have a smaller car, I'm going to be buying one next March, and then hire a larger car if and when I need one for holidays or long distance trips.
Hey mate, that's good to hear. The UK is awesome for smaller cars like the Seagull as you say. If you're from Mossley as your username suggests then you have some of the nicest driving roads around where you live in the UK. Many hours of my life enjoying those roads across the pass.
Let me know which car you get next March :)
It is nice around here, but the vicious war on drivers is killing the pleasure of driving. I'll definitely let you know what I end up getting, if the right car at the right price is available at the right price, but I can see me having a used ICE car if there's nothing like the Seagull or Wuling Panda available here at that time. @@TheChargeShow
After subsidy, it costs 32890aud or 19,700eur in qld Australia for the Dolphin.
The most expensive Dolphin in The Netherlands costs €39.990. The Seagull is still yet a mistary IF it does comes here.
The Dolphin is a lot more expensive in Europe and Australasia because it is the global version that has increased passenger safety and enhancements such as split rear seats and a rear washer/wiper.
I would expect the Seagull to be similarly enhanced.
Maybe a better estimate of the price of the Seagull in Europe/Australasia would be:
Price of the Seagull in country X = Price of the Dolphin in country X * Price of the Seagull in China / Price of the Dolphin in China
By the way, out of the two cars I would go for the Dolphin. My venerable Nissan Note will be 10 years old next month and I am looking for a small electric car to replace it over the next two years. I tend to buy the top(ish) model of a small car and did this with my 2014 Note and 2002 Ford Fiesta. The Seagull is a bit too small for my needs. Out of the available small cars, the BYD Dolphin is the best one for me and would probably go for the Comfort trim if my Note dies on me before anything better is available. The MG4 EV, is a good car but at my age I prefer comfort over handling. I am keeping an eye out for the Tesla $25,000 car (Model 2 to most people), but don't like the lack of a speedometer behind the steering wheel and insurance can be expensive, however it looks like it will have a better battery.
I was also thinking the in China price comparison would be fairer. My excellent Honda Jazz will be 10 yrs old in a few months and I’m thinking a Dolphin replacement is likely for the same reason as you.
The BYD Seagull would be a great city run around. If you had to take on a road trip is possible but not ideal due to less range but for the price can't fault it.
I know right! Such a bargain. I'm writing my next video notes about my top 3 EV's from this year. You'll like the next video :)
@@TheChargeShow your video is absolute bullshit... The Dolphin is between €16,000 and €18,000 in China... so nowhere near double the price.
@@johnsmith-cw3wo Google gave me these results: The BYD Dolphin's price range in China stands between RMB 111,000 to RMB 131,000 (or roughly $15,200 to $17,900), showcasing a fascinating price difference across regions.
The BYD Seagull was officially launched earlier in this year in China starting at 73,800 yuan ($10,690). Just under $11,000 for a compact hatchback with a 30.8 kWh battery is really impressive. Is close to double the price so a fair statement. Obviously, price in China won't be direct cost will be sold in different parts of the world. However, Seagull will be a cheaper car.
The dolphin is between €16,000 and €18,000 in china which is a more comparable price if you're using the seagull Chinese price
Nice comparison with the Jazz. As it happens, I have a Tesla Model 3 as my main car and a Honda Jazz as the second family car. I'd love to replace the Jazz with a Seagull, alas they aren't available in my part of the world yet.
I would defiantly buy a Segull as a run around in London.
I do maybe 20 miles a day at an average speed on 9mph during the week.
That's fantastic. Awesome car for London. :)
Does your trip include the M25 or is it all within the ring road?
@@TheChargeShow I drive from Mill Hill into mayfair every day and back.
I tried taking public transport and its 2 hours each way but only 1 hour each way when driving.
I used to do a similar distance from mill hill to Enfield every day with slightly faster roads but nothing over 50mph for both journeys.
Had a tesla model 3 previously but was an early one that had allot of issues so looming for a replacement.
Borrowing my dad's EV for now.
E up mii electric citigo ev 💁🏻♂️
If only doing 9mph, why bother with a car at all? That's almost cycling pace.
In Cambodia need battery colder right it's hot over there's 😀😀😀👍👌
YESSSSS haha :)
A 10kWh battery costs in Austria 5000€.
If the Seagull would have V2L and you use as battery extension, you have a car for less money per kWh! So you can use all your solarpower self!
I'd buy a Seagull top version for 20k€. The Dolphin starts at 35k€ and if you put out that kind of cash, you might as well think about the Seal AWD at 51k€.
I'd love a BYD Seagull but as a cheapskate I would look to get into EV's for the least money so a Geely Panda is currently at the top of my desirability list!
Agreed. Both awesome cars. Love the price of both. That's where the party is at for me :)
I plan to take my delivery of the Seagull next month here in 🇺🇾.
After looking around I found there's absolutely no 175/55 r16 aftermarket tires over here. Any ideas on what else could be compatible?
Hey mate, I would imagine you could also fit 185's if you wanted to. But it's quite rare that people fit tyres that are a little wider than standard. But apparently not something that mechanics or tyre shops think is crazy or a terrible idea. Probably best to stick to 175's. Just get a good brand I guess :)
What country is the flat from? That's awesome.
195/55/R16 might fit.
I plan to take my delivery of the seagull next range 405 k.m..
Fantastic. When roughly?
You can't compare the European BYD Dolphin price vs the Chinese BYD Seagull price. That's like asking why the UK McDonalds Quarter Pounder with cheese is almost double the price of the China McDonalds Big Mac even though both are very similar burgers
Interesting take on the two, can I ask are you based in the UK .
I'm originally English, but spent my adult life in Norway, and then moved to Australia for a few years. Long term i'm based in Europe in some country or another :) But for the coming days i'm in Australia. And then I'll be back in Scandinavia.
Ty
My pleasure. :)
Dolphin es mucho mejor en todo gente, además tiene más promociones a crédito.
