I'm a journeyman mechanic for over 40 years. I really enjoy the kind and style of content that doesn't pull punches. Everybody makes mistakes you do, whatever it's all good. Just really enjoy just watching a guy work through a job and and making it happen one way or another!! Without the feeling that you put on an act and are trying to be either naive or being foolish. You're pretty genuine competent mechanic!!

I've worked in I.T. for 25 years, and I deal with the same thing. I recently left the VAR space because I just didn't want to deal with the stress and anxiety anymore. Work 100 hours on prepping a network cutover for a big customer and a week before the cut you get the "pre-cut jitters". What did I miss during discovery? Did I configure everything correctly? Did the customer tell me about any weird corner-case somethingorother? Is there something that the equipment vendor hasn't documented that's going to screw me once I cut this thing over? Every. Single. Project. A million things to think about and all it takes is one or two little mistakes and you're on a 36-hour mission to not go out back and commit seppuku because now everything is down and the customer is wondering why they're paying $250/hr. for you to run the project.

I am a car mechanic. I usally just do brake work and services and stuff. But my mind keeps tormenting me at night. My mind ask me over and over about the same questions: Did you torque the brakes? Did you torque the Oilfilter or Drainplug? Have you filled the car with oil? The answer is always yes but If you ask enough times it will fuck with your memory. Then trying to catch some sleep while your brain plays a scene of somebody not able to brake or an engine on selfdestruct. Ofcourse I double and triple check my work. Wow, it's nice to see it's together and running (forward and reverse, stopping is optional). The ending was a bit "ominous" and I am hoping that's not the real end of your video career on TH-cam. Like other commentors here, I (along with many others) have been following you since your early videos in the old shop, all the content was worth watch and re-watching. I am hoping your just "toying" with us all with the suggestion that your "closing". You have a unique skill set Wes, you embrace "challenges" other shops walk away from, that's what makes you valuable, you embrace the challenge in diagnostics and trouble shooting. That, in of it's self, is a marketable talent and you should be paid accordingly. Not every mechanic or technician can do what you do, nor would they, if it can't be done in a specific time in their minds, it's a waste of money. Some folks like their old gear, it's worked it's make them money or served them well over the years. As the phrase goes, "they have fallen in love with old iron" and as any old vehicle guy knows too well that, "love affair" costs money to have it continue. Hoping your doing well, I as many others hope to see more content from you (I am waiting to see the Goldwing job). Thank You for the time you invest in putting out the videos. Best wishes and stay safe! Sincerely, John in Prince George, B.C. Canada

They literally killed one of the mechanics from overwork and then wound up burning the airplane down because of their negligence in securing the portable gas tank for the APU. It stinks to the high heaven of pilots forcing mechanics to perform miracles to feed their own egos.

One contractor I worked for had a Petibone fork lift. It also went forward, backward but had no brakes. When operating on a hill you had to keep the forward or reverse pedal engaged and engine braking kept you under control. One day a new laborer jumped on the lift and headed around and down the hill. Took his foot off the forward pedal and stepped on the brake. And away he went! Fortunately he had a clear runway and bounced down the hill. Everyone was yelling to step on the forward pedal but that didn't make any sense to the poor guy trying to stop. I don't remember but I think the owner finally fixed the darn thing!😊

Wes i normally dont comment that much on your vids besides some facts. But at this point i have to say: i REALLY learned a freaking LOT from you. Im a mechanic myself over the pond in germany. Working for mercedes and never say no to a job. Besides my daytime job at mercedes i do everything tech related.
From computing devices to washing machines over toys to lawn mowers trucks traktors farm equipment in small to big sizes.
I really try to learn every day.

Yet you truly surprise me everytime you take on a job!

I know what you were saying. My wife and I ran a small motor cycle shop, sales, spares and repairs. I did a full engine rebuild on a Honda 4 cylinder , everything that needed replacing was replaced. Being a small Mom and Pop establishment telephone calls, customers needing to talk, reps. doing the regular calls and so on interruptions were frequent, got to accept those. Finished the rebuild, motor back in the frame, clear up the tools, packets, and oddments before going out on test. Hell what's that damned Honda 4 cylinder oil pump doing on the bench near the vice. Yes I had !. Back to work again, never made that mistake again, but you do sometimes just wonder where you had got to when you had to leave off. Luckily it was a bike bought for stock, not a direct customers.

I had made my mind to comment how refreshing it is to see someone on youtube take time to consider what can be reused, so often you see people just replace everything 'because they are in there', something that is not financially an option for a lot of viewers. Then you hit us with the cliffhanger ending, you are one of the most relatable channels out there, would be sad to see you go.

Wes, I understand your feelings about starting or testing a repair at the end of a long day. I was a field service mechanic for a local crane, telescoping forklift, manlift dealer for over 24 years. I can't count the number of times I went home at the end of a long day (12-14 hours) and had a dream about leaving a hose loose, or not tightening a bolt, or leaving out a thrust washer.... I even dreamed I found a crack in a critical place. The following morning, I would go to where I dreamed of, and sure enough, there was the crack I dreamed of. I always tried to wait until the next morning to start the crane or test a repair if I could. Whatever is next for you, I know you will be successful at it. I look forward to seeing what it is you are up to!

Wes, you look worn out brother. You've done a lot with this channel. I was thinking how many places I've lived at and moved to somewhere new then continue watching your content. You and Diesel Creek are the only real wrench/repair channels I actually watch now even when somebody might see your videos as over 30 minutes. DC's videos are easily an hour now. This kind of content is amazing and even the smallest things, which I've told people in person, you catch by from these guys doing this forever will save you so much time. I used to work at an industrial site and watching the main facility guy basically be Superman jumping from incident to incident on the job site made me really respect and appreciate the blue collar, always in the beating sun "maintenance guy" keeping anything and everything running. At my old job and with it being summer, I'd always tell the guy I had him cold drinks ready whenever he needed to grab one or feel free to sit in my office in the AC for 15 minutes if you need to hide and cool off from the facility management. And you know what's crazy I would be working on my truck or whatever beater I was driving, would hit a roadblock at 5 PM and Mike always came by to check on me before he left to see if there was some knowledge he had or something really really simple for him to do which was causing me to struggle.

As I get older the fear you so exactly prescribe of overlooking a procedure/operation/part etc is very real, stupid mistakes are to easy to make when you are in your prime that why i tend to shy away from he bigger more complex jobs now that i would have leapt at before. Then when you were doing your final testing out in the yard and you said it didn't have any brakes..... I knew exactly what tore up that clutch pack! Just a note confirming what many here have already stated, but I will add to them the following. The fact that you're from "my general area" for me adds to the appeal. Your sense of humor and working style are very relatable, and make your channel a very easy watch.
While I am fearing the cliffhanger ending a bit, I also realize that in life people/families (and with them priorities) can and do change. And how you've been able to keep up with the shop's schedule along with creating the content we see here...I honestly don't know how my favorite contributors juggle both of those commitments, let alone combining those with family life (which is ALWAYS the #1 priority...or at least should be #1).
Anything at all you have decided regarding the future of this channel and any changes coming, you have my support. My personal opinion is I have no right to really desire anything from you because in my book this was all a free look at someone doing something they love to do anyway...so no biggie there.
Therefore, best of luck going forward, I cannot thank you enough for the years of quality entertainment you've provided for me, and I hope to see more content here in the future if at all possible.
