I bought a used 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L LML Duramax with 144,645 miles on it. 100% stock and very clean inside and out. I did the oil filler cap blow by test at the end of my test drive, I bought the truck from a chevy dealership, and when I arrived at the dealership to check it out, they had it running and ready to go so I couldn't check blow by at cold start. But warmed up to full operating temperature the cap just sat there and didn't move. I ended up buying the truck, and at cold start the oil fill cap again just sits there when placed upside down on the oil filler neck. I'm going to be changing my oil with Rotella T6 and using WIX oil filters about every 4,000 miles. 3,500 / 4,000 miles. Keeping the oil clean goes a long way. It's cheap insurance, well maybe not cheap with Biden in office but it's still easy insurance.

Love the videos, I have learned a ton from you and the people you know. Your mechanic friends and you have help me learn about diesels. Your videos made me buy my first Duramax (LML). It was the information and videos that you provided, help me decide what truck I really wanted (gas or diesel). I really appreciate your mechanic friends for there time and knowledge, and can’t wait for more awesome videos that you create. Instead of Truck Master, you should be the Truck Professor. It’s great to see you and your wife spending quality time together and building a truck. This encourages females to get there hands dirty and become great mechanics.

Yea, myself as a green horn LML Duramax owner I've learned a ton. This is my 1st diesel I've ever owned and I'm not bad at pulling wrenches, but this is a whole new animal for sure. My trucks 100% stock but my 1st priority is a lift pump. I've got the 100gph Air Dog lift pump sitting on my bench waiting for warmer weather (Minnesota) to get it installed. I'm the mean time, I'm doing resonateor cap, PVC cap, hot side pipe intercooler, cold side pipe intercooler and I'm just going to put a K & N air filter in the stock air box. What exhaust can I do to get it sounding more like it should? I'd like to delete the filter, DEF, and cat but it looks impossible to get er done thanks to EPA. I've reached out to a few exhaust companies and I get a return email saying it's no longer possible to straight pipe my truck, so wondering my options to get it sounding better.

Cummins FSM states blowby test is to be done with a manometer and under load. Obviously this is not practical when looking at a truck in the field so the ol cap dance test is a good secondary.

    Hi
I bought a hyundai tucson 2008 from a friend yesterday and I knew it had an oil leak about a year ago from the rocker gasket and he assured me it was fixed before I bought it
I paid a deposit and drove 75 kilometers back home and the next morning their was oil all over my driveway.
I bought it to my mechanic the next day and he was 22 minutes away and he took the oil filler cap off when it was up to temperature and not only was it smoking bad from the oil filler but also the dip stick hole.
The friend if mine was dishonest but I did get my money back but he is convinced that by Changing a couple of oil seals it will be ok.
I drove it for a while the day after I purchased the car and the check engine light came on and it was running lumpy and I got it home and I could smell the fumes in the cab.
Anyway it was a lesson learned and I honestly never knew that this way an issue was diesel engines before this.

We have LML & LP5 Denali’s currently (plus a few gassers) for the farm , guess I won’t leave out the power stroke... Watching this new build has me wanting to grab a ZF6 maybe a LML engine and convert into a 87 R30/C30 4 door. It would be a very long process not to mention $. The dream/ goal I would go for would be to have some new age on drive terrain, also some interior. Also having the older generation theme as well. Probably ain’t even possible, who knows... Anyways thanks for always keeping me and the rest of us motivated and determined to go for the things we are shooting for while teaching us at the same time! #TruckMaster

The LBZ and LMMs have garbage pistons, aside from cracking... they also have a bushing that’s pressed in to where the wristpin rides on, and when they walk out they drag on the cylinders... LB7/LLY pistons do not have this bushing. This also needs to be talked about, this was a huge overlook in this blow by video that was not mentioned.
